When do you use the flanger and what level do you put it on for comfortably numb? I just about got that song down and i want to get it to sound good all the way through now.
Ive seen aussie floyd too. Amazing vocalist for the great gig, probably the best part of the show. They played alot of great ones, its ashame i didnt know half of them the time i saw them. |
i used the flanger on my amp and it sounds much better, thanks :thumb:

Have any of you heard the album of Pink Floyd covers that the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra did? I was lucky and picked up a copy for £3. It's absolutely jaw-dropping. There's no-one for mustering truly epic scopes like a full Philharmonic Orchestra...

I got it on my computer. Us & Them is excellent on it. Where did you pick up your copy of it? |
HMV Lancaster, which was bizarre. They normally stock very little outside the mainstream. I love the version of Hey You on it, but it's all good - if I listed the tracks I liked on it I'd basically be giving you a tracklist. I was a little surprised to hear them using an electric guitar, but when you get right down to it you can't fully replace Gilmour with violins, it really is needed for some moments, like the climax of Shine On.

:-/ I guess there is little chance of me finding it in America.

I picked that album up yesterday *cost me 4 pounds!* and it is great stuff. Do you know how it was recorded? |
hey Distant Echoes, I use the flanger for more of a Uni-Vibe type setting, with alot of depth and not as much rate. you want it to really swirl around you.
I use it for the first and second solos all the way through. |
I smell some foul play in that poll, how could tool gain almost 40 votes in a period of a few hours??
DSOTM was up by twenty when I got home today, and now it's down by 10?? bs..... |

That really made me mad. I can't believe that shit. |
We need a more efficient way of get floyd to win.
Im not against fairness and votes majority winning, but stuff like that is bs |

same here |
I konw this is a delayed post, but I'm guessing the flange on CN solo is fairly light, right? and on the second solo, their is quite a bit of gain, enough to get a harmonic, correct. Also, what kind of harmonic do you use for the opening note of the second solo. I do a natural on the 9th fret of the 3 string. Sounds close enough.
Thanks :thumb: Stupid Toolboys. /Listens to Lateralus |
Something I tried was playing the begining of the second solo with wah, it sounds really cool |
what does everybody think of the job that the guitar player on roger waters "in the flesh live" did? I thought it was really impressive, I mean he can't touch dave, but I thought he was one of the few people who could fill in for him
|
He seemed to do a good job filling in.
|
I haven't seen the DVD. I should check it out. No one can touch Dave. He's the best.
|
yes he did fill in quite well. Gilmour is one of those hard rto replace people and Roger found sound someone to replace him and for that I think Roger deserves cred for having the sweet hookups
|
Meh, it's not hard. When you're as big as Roger, you just talk to a producer or something and say "I need bands to play with me." I'm sure any guitarist would jump at the chance to play with Waters.
|
Yeah but would they be able to fill in for Gilmour well?
|
True. Gilmour does leave big shoes to fill.
|
True. Gilmour does leave big shoes to fill.
yea what I like about this guy is he adds his own element to the songs. Most people would just play the song note for note, whitch is just boring |
A sign of a really good musician is his/her ablility to improvise well and make it fit into the song perfectly
|
A sign of a really good musician is his/her ablility to improvise well and make it fit into the song perfectly
Yea I would have to agree with that. If I buy a live album and there Isn't any improvments made to some of the songs then I usually stop listening to the band. I just can't respect the band anymore. |
So, I talked to Riva, and he says DSOTM won, officially, I suppose, and in honor of the victory, I have learned the Money solo as well. Now THAT sounds awesome with wah, Potw.

Yea I never play Money without it, I find with most Pink Floyd solos the wah adds a lot to the song, I guess Gilmour just wasn't a fan of it |

Wah adds a lot to most songs in general me sucker for wah |
