the DIY turned into the community thread
|
So, My hair didnt turn out the way i wanted it too, so im thinking i should just re dye it, But my mom seems to think it hasnt been turning out because im over dyeing it, Is that possible? ( I use the Semi Perm Dye)
|
Probably. One layer'll fade and stuff, plus dying it to much just isn't good for your hair, which I'm sure you knew anyway.
|
I finally started sewing the patches I made onto my jacket. I lost one of my patches, though, so that sort of brought me to a stop. I'm in no mood to re-make it, but I guess I have to.

Semi-Perm's can actually be good for your hair, a lot of them are really conditioning. |
Can using soap make your hair fall out?
|
Semi-Perm's can actually be good for your hair, a lot of them are really conditioning.
Yeah, I Use Semi's cause i know it wont really ruin my hair, But I figured out that i think it becasue i have so much dye from previous dyes still in my hair that the other dye wont set in enough, Casue i noticed that near the top is much brighter ( Roots maybe?) I think im gonna either bleach it.... or just let it grow out. |

I heard that but I don't think thats true. If it is, it's one of those long term effects |
i want a mohawk but ive got wavy hair...
so do i. makes no difference. if you really need to, you can even straighten it with either some cheap hair straightener (or steal the expensive stuff, or whatever) or use a straightening iron (ebay one, they're not too expensive there). |
Cheap hair straighterns dont work at all, so its a waste of 30 bucks. I Used a regular iron( Clothes Iron) For the longest time, it works but kills your hair. Now i finally got a really good flat iron and its amazing, i can do my hair in 10 mins, It takes people on crap iron like an hour.
And if you have the money you can get it permently straightened. |

*shrug* i got mine for five bucks, and it works. |
Then you got a good deal, Mine was originally like 150$ but i got it off some place for 50 dolla.
|
o.O
wow. awesome. to be fair, it isn't super great, it's not like my hair is silky smooth shimmering strands of straightened goodness. but it gets the curl out pretty well for at least 24 hours, and certainly works well enough to straighten and then put up in my mohawk. |
it's not like my hair is silky smooth shimmering strands of straightened goodness. .
Yeah, Mine is. haha And if i wanted to, it will stay straightend for almost a week, but i wash my hair so i have to end up doing it everyday still. |
that's bad for your hair. you should go about 5 days without washing it, at least.
according to me. but i'm no expert. |
I dont go a day without washing my hair, but because of that habbit it kills my color.
Yes, I'm aware that the bands aren't very punk. However, the whole thing is very DIY.
Yeah, those bands aren't very punk at all, but very, very, nice patch work. Those look like some of the best self-made patches i've seen in a LONG time. :thumb: |

Thank you  |
has anyone here ever put on a DIY gig?
|
I dunno, a few people were talking about it a while back, dunno if they ever even came back to the forums though.
what should i put on my jeans jacket keep in mind i ripped the sleeves off
Sleeves would be nice :) seriously, do you have to ask? well, anyway, for the sake of being nice and appearing like i had something to say to this old post other than a sarcastic, barely witty one-liner, i would recommend a big f**king patch of your favorite punk band on the back. I just started a new jacket and right now i've got a big minor threat patch on the back (maybe not the most original, but i don't care. they're my favorite.) the jacket itself is a military jacket i got at a surplus store, and on the shoulders there are these little straps i covered with studs. sleeves i'm covering with patches, but you don't have to worry about those. On the front, on a pocket or something, i'm putting an upside down american flag and writing something like "American Pride?" over it. for you, i'd put alot of studs on it and write some good band names on with fabric paint or something. want a good idea in the form of a reference photo, i'd look at the casualties on their last cd, one of 'em has the same style of jacket you described. oh, try and be original though. i mean, alot of people have the same jackets themselves and similar patches, but try and do it slightly differently than others. think of something witty or cool. my jacket is similar to some, but i'm making it my own with little sarcastic political things allover it. there you go. oh, and to the kid with the turtles jacket, "tubular". ninja turtles were hardcore. no joke. |

i know this has probably been already asked before, but i couldn't find it and seached it and couldn't find it so point me in the right direction? how do you make patches and t-shirts?
