was it picking his nose cos i remember Angus mentioning that during an interview before

ok lateralus 08-11-2005 06:25 PM

Back in Black is a good record, and Angus is a great guitarist but thats about it.

BassMasta2487 08-11-2005 06:25 PM

Bingo. He picked his nose with his sticks.

Next question...

What was Angus and Malcolm's joking reason for why they picked Brian Johnson?

This one might be hard...

his name was johnson! duh

maddog87 08-11-2005 06:33 PM

he was playing pool with a bunch of their freinds during the audition and they were about to end it when they started talking to him

other than that i cant think of anything right now.

BassMasta2487 08-11-2005 06:54 PM

No, they jokingly said they picked him because he was the only one who didn't ask them to play "smoke on the water". I didn't think anyone would get that.

angusmaster 08-11-2005 08:17 PM

Man , you all know alot about ac/dc , i thought i was a big fan.

That's because it's not true.

Brewer14 08-11-2005 08:54 PM

How do you all know all this stuff? Jeez..

BassMasta2487 08-11-2005 10:05 PM

No, it's true, I read it in an interview that Angus and Malcolm did after AC/DC got inducted into the R&R hall of fame in '03. I read it about two days ago.

Ulysses 08-12-2005 01:37 PM
Anyone else think Bon was underrated as a songwriter?
He wrote lyrics that suited the music perfectly and that is all that matters in regards to this circumstance.

^^thats true..

BassMasta2487 08-12-2005 03:13 PM

Yeah that's true, they said they almost skipped over him cause he was so little.

Really, cause I just read the same article in Guitar Legends and they say nothing of it.

BassMasta2487 08-12-2005 06:30 PM

It wasn't in guitar legends.

rippa32 08-12-2005 06:54 PM

It did happen ive heard of it as well.

BassMasta2487 08-12-2005 06:55 PM

Yeah, I found the interview on some random site while I was looking for clips of the induction. I tried to find the site again but I forgot what search engine I used and what I actually searched for. But rest assured, it's true.
I've heard from a few sources that Malcolm got stuck into him but nevertheless, I read a book on AC/DC about a year ago that outlined the inicident. Anyway, another good one is when Bon Scott and some bloke from Atlantic were at the same urinal and the bloke said something about the lightning bolt and and what it meant, Bon gave him an upper cut for his troubles.
An uppercut? Is that figuratively speaking?

BassMasta2487 08-12-2005 09:53 PM

If what most people say about Bon is true...it's probably literal. Remember, the dude got turned down from the Aussie army because they said he was mentally unstable.

lightningmetal666 08-13-2005 12:38 AM

Hey, I heard a rumor that Bon was a limo driver for the band before he joined with them. Is this true?

BassMasta2487 08-13-2005 07:40 AM

Yeah, that ones true too. When he first joined he asked if he could play drums. One time he actually did. Mark Evans and Phil Rudd were late to a gig so Malcolm played bass and Bon played drums and people just thought it was part of the act.

Brewer14 08-13-2005 09:12 AM
He wrote lyrics that suited the music perfectly and that is all that matters in regards to this circumstance.
Right, I agree with you there. I also meant songs like "Ride On", "Overdose", and "Night Prowler", to name a few, are excellent songs, but people still say every AC/DC song is about "balls and drinking and rock n roll".

Actually, Mark and Phil weren't their so Bon played drums, and Malcolm and Angus still played their regular instruments.

So Bon sang while drumming? And they didn't have a bassist?
So Bon sang while drumming? And they didn't have a bassist?
Of course they has a bassist, Cliff Williams.

AC/DC, imo, is ok, but the music doesn't have much to it. And just so things might get cleared up....

I know they have a bassist (although you can't tell by listening to most of their songs :p ); I was wondering if anyone played bass at the gig Reaper was talking about.

BassMasta2487 08-20-2005 06:23 PM

Yeah, read the thread before you say that. We weren't talking about the lineup. We were talking about a specific gig where Mark Evans and Phil Rudd were late, so Bon played drums.

BTW: I'm 99% sure that the article I read that in said that Malcolm played bass until Mark Evans got there. He was the bass player for awhile before, so its not like he didn't know the songs.

Weird, I never knew Malcolm could play bass.

BassMasta2487 08-21-2005 01:26 PM

Well, it's not hard if you're a guitar player to just pick up the bass and play it. But there was a point after Larry Van Kreidt left and before Mark Evans came where it was a four piece and Malcolm played bass, Angus on Guitar, Phil Rudd on drums, and Bon singing. Actually their brother George played bass sometimes. I think he sang too.
