Greatest hits are crap...
NP: Liar. One of the better songs off SFSGSW! |
He started the band Death and basically the whole genre of death metal. Their first album was pretty brutal, but later in Death's career they moved more towards progressive death (download Voice of the Soul and you'll see), great stuff all throughout their career. Chuck was the only original member, they went through lots of lineup changes. He died in I think 1997 of a brain tumor.
bought scream bloody gore today ... also cryptic writings which is pretty good so far too much dream theater today I got three of their albums and am currently od'ing |
Lately ive been getting into Cryptic Writings, I love the guitar in the begining of A secret place.
|
I think it's sitar
|
Cryptic Writing is a good album.
Incredibly underated. The song "Have cool will travel" is truly great. |
Me either, though every song off of it that I've downloaded is awesome.
|
Can anyone post a track listing from Cryptic Writings? I must have some of the songs from that album on Rude Awakening.
Just go to http://www.metal-archives.com and search Megadeth. You can find a track listing of all their albums there.
Rust in peace is the most thrash IMO.
KIMB |
yeah, Rust In Peace had a lot of speed metal, so I would agree and say KIMB was the thrashiest and the least speed metalish
|
man KIMB is the ultimate thash/speed combination! listen to loved to death or rattlehead and see what i'm talking about.
|
I still have to get KIMB, but I haven't seen it in any stores.
|
I completely agree that KIMB is the most thrash, I havent listened to it in a while. Ive been completely loving rust in peace though.
|

You probably won't find it in stores, just order it from amazon. Or hit me up on AIM, Zephyr2k3 |
Most Speed Metal - Killing Is My Business
Most Thrashy - Peace Sells Most Melodic - So Far So Good So What Most Expiremental - Rust In Peace |
KIMB is definitely the thrashiest. And IMO SFSGSW doesn't really have a defining feature, its just a great album.
|
No, KIMB is speed metal ! Do you know the difference between thrash and speed? I'm not very good in comparing those two genres, but as usually most people confuse them and consider as the same thing, I'll try to help as much as I can.
First, speed metal is not faster than thrash (even if it's called speed). Speed metal is a child of heavy metal and punk rock. And thrash was born when speed metal lost it's "rock'n'roll" sound (Motorhead, anyone?), remained melodic but got heavier. A Megadeth example: 1. Rattlehead has a very Rock'n'Roll sound, so does The Chosen Ones and Mechanix. Singing is melodic and happy (even poppy, if you allow me to say so). When Black Firday, Devil's Island, Wake Up Dead, Bad Omen......in short, everything except I Ain't Superticious and My Last Words remains melodic, but adds a mood of agressiveness and darkness. Peace Sells is a different case. I'd say that song is more Classical Heavy Metal sounding to me. I might be wrong though. 2. The only song on KIMB that is very close to thrash is Loved To Death. I think it completely loses it's rock'n'roll sound and happy singing balance. Which makes the album even more interesting. A Metallica example: 1. No Remorse, Seek'n'Destroy, Hit The Lights, 4 Horsemen, Jump In The Fire - all of these songs have a rock'n'roll mood. They might sound heavy, but they're not agressive. When Fight Fire With Fire, Creeping Death and Trapped under Ice are agressive and dark-sounding. 2. Motorbreath sounds very punk. Whiplash may sound thrash but it's still speed metal. The only pure thrash songs on the album are Phantom Lord and Metal Militia. (However, Phantom Lord has a very Motorhead like happy main riff) So Far So Good So What is indeed the most melodic. The intro instrumental is heavy but very melodic. Set The World Afire (my least fav) is thrash, but I can't get into it. It's a complete wank. The rhythm and music keep changing all the time and thus the song loses it's balance. Mary Jane and In My Darkest Hour are very melodic and heavy, what else to say??? 502 sounds very speed metal to me. why? read above ! Liar is a bit confusing to define, it sound both rock'n'roll in some places, both dark and has a never ending melodic mood. Hook In Mouth??? I can't define it. All I can say - Kick A$$. Just a great piece of music. Thanks for reading :thumb: |
I just found the Mortal Kombat Annialation (spelling) soundtrack and there's a remix of Almost Honest. It's pretty different for Deth, though I haven't heard the orginal.

i think ive heard it before,im not sure though |
I would say Rust In Peace is both the most thrashiest and melodic.
Thrash doesn't ALWAYS have to sound agressive, btoto. |
Well i never considered them to be very melodic, but thrashy, yes.
|
I consider them melodic, very thrasy, but melodic as well
|
what songs would you consider melodic by them?
|
Holy wars, The scorpion, count down to exctinction
|
what album is the scorpion on?
