I forgot Hermano's "Dare I Say"....fans of Afghan Wigs and Kyuss must check this band.
Yeah I got into Hermano through my Kyuss exploration. They're pretty badass, but they get tired. Kinda like Unida.
Here's the tracklist:

10. The Polyphonic Spree - "Happy Christmas (War Is Over)"

Where's this song from? I have not heard of it previous to the moment in which I saw this listed in your mix of Christmas tracklist listing post which I saw moments ago.

It's on this album called "Maybe This Christmas Tree", it's got xmas songs by the Spree, Death Cab, and some others.

You can stream the entire album here: http://www.maybethisxmas.com/home.html

Yup, a nice portion of my list was lifted from that

There's an infomercial on now for "Classic Country Hits." I've become more and more interested in old-school country since playing San Andreas, and just listening to these samples in the commercial is great. Even though they all sound the same (except Johnny Cash), they're still pretty fun to listen to.

Tomahawk 12-12-2004 05:06 AM

That reminds me... on that country station on San Andreas, there's this song about gators in the swamp or somecrap, and it's awesome. Anybody know what that song is called?

I think it was called "Amos Moses"... Maybe... I forgot who it was by.

But I agree, what little I've heard of that old school country (basically a bit of Johnny Cash plus the GTA station) is some pretty good stuff. I'd go over yonder to Soulseek and download some crap, but my soundcard died. :upset:

Anyone know any good albums that I could look into getting with the gift certificates I'm almost guaranteed to get for Christmas? Possibly compilations or best of albums, since I'm not that big into country and I probably won't buy very many CDs of it in the near future...

Zmev 12-12-2004 06:43 AM

Ive been listening to Too YOung by Phoenix all day long. Every couple minutes the opening effect pops in my head and i have to listen

Sep 12-12-2004 06:48 AM

The Fall Of Troy. There are oh so amazing.

Interstate 12-12-2004 07:02 AM

NineBitFable 12-12-2004 08:41 AM

Tomahawk 12-12-2004 09:52 AM

I've been digging Damien Rice, finally. I've had his album for ages, but it never really clicked with me, but a couple of nights ago it went click. So uh, hooray. It's a really nice album.

You should definitely pick up some kind of Johnny Cash compilation. I've got a couple that are awesome, and they were both cheap as hell.

Aren't they the band that did Run, Run, Run?

The Ashtray Girl 12-12-2004 09:58 AM

Damien Rice is awesome, welcome to the club.

Today I'm really enjoying The Streets.

Luxor 12-12-2004 10:21 AM

My girlfriend likes Damien Rice. He's not bad, once in a while.

It's "Amos Moses" by Jerry Reed. Primus did a cover of it for their Rhinoplasty EP. The original is still cool though.

The Essential Johnny Cash
Take it Easy - The Sound of California Vol 1 (more country-rock, but its great)
Hank Williams - I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry
The Complete Hank Williams
Columbia Country Classics Vol 1 and Vol 3

Those are what I have, and they're great. I can also recommend you some single albums if you're interested.

Wanker 12-12-2004 11:23 PM

I just downloaded a bunch of Nick Drake and Damien Rice. I'll listen to them extensively over vacation.

Thanks man (ditto to Tommyhawk for kinda helpin' back there). These will do for now, I have way too many other albums I need to get before I start getting into normal full albums of the country persuasion.

YDload 12-13-2004 01:13 AM

Primus: John the Fisherman. Thanks for that one, Zappa. It's a lot of fun.

Plainlazy 12-13-2004 04:13 AM
