Darkthrone's whole discography is pretty solid, idk if anybody else here realizes this.

Like yes, later BM material can't stack up to TH, ABITNS, and UAFM, but it's still not bad.

[i]Panzerfaust[/i] is pretty awesome too. First track is ****ing great.

Also, don't care what anyone says, [i]Soulside Journey[/i] is like if Entombed didn't suck.

Soulside Journey is good but not better than Left Hand Path. It's not Darkthrone's fault that Entombed evolved into some weird bro-death band.

Ravishing Grimness, aka their most underrated album.

I never bothered with anything after the first 4 up until [i]the Cult is Alive[/i]. Might check that out.

Their entire discography is worth listening to imo, though the first four black metal albums are by far their best material.

Well the demos aren't worth listening to, but as far as their DM material goes, Soulside Journey and Goatlord rule, even if the vocals on Goatlord get downright silly at some points.

I'm actually making a point to listen to their albums I skip over today, just because mediocre by Darkthrone standards = 666x better than most other bands.

Just listened to the Claws of Time on youtube, it reminds me of Burzum more than the Darkthrone material I've heard

I kind of see what you're saying, but at the same time idk.

It reminds me of older Darkthrone + a more modern bm sound (though it wasn't really like most BM coming out in 1999).

Love that album so much tbh, was my favorite Darkthrone album before I got over the older material's production.

I've just always looked at Darkthrone as being more punky and not so typically "metal". That opening riff is alot like the one in "Ea, Lord of the Depths".

Which riff in Ea...? Cause I don't see much similarity between the opening riffs.

And yeah, the punkiness is what attracts me to Darkthrone so strongly.

I can see the Burzum comparison in the second riff of The Claws Of Time though, def.

It's definitely the best song on the album fyi.

The whole thing's good, but that's really the stand out track.
