Straight punk rock? Not at all...are you sure you're listening to the newest one? It struck me as more old school (pre?) speed metal than anything.

Yeah, it has it's NWOBHM moments. I don't know. I prefer Dark Thrones and Black Flags to this one.

I haven't heard that yet. Newest one I've heard prior to this was the FOAD EP and then Cult is Alive, which definitely upped the punx pretty hard.


The clean singing on the new one caught me off guard.

Yeah, there's a few moments of it on DTaBF, but nowhere near as much as the new one.

I actually haven't really got around to FOAD or The Cult is Alive. I left off somewhere around Ravaging Grimness.

I've never really checked out the newer Darkthrone stuff. From what I've heard, I don't think it's my kind of thing, but I probably should give it a try.

I have a tough time with new Darkthrone, just because I can't help but compare it to old Darkthrone. I'm too biased on the subject.
