Guess it was a mandolin I was hearing, I can't really tell.

The guitar playing in Old & In the Way has never really excited me. Though, it really shouldn't. Being that Old & In the Way is a traditional Bluegrass band the guitar is strickly a rhythmic instrument. So, as you can see, Rowan does come out that much. Lead Bluegrass guitar didn't really come around until Clarence White of The Byrds and various other bands.
Badmoon, Do you have any samples of Old & In the Way? or any other good bluegrass?

*has become a leecher* :upset:
I don't mind the Bluegrass band "New Grass Revival", i recommend you to check them out. "I'm Down" and "Love Someone Like Me" are good tracks among others.

Nothing all he is saying is: Allman Brothers > Skynard

In which maybe all of us would agree.

He probably just asked DBJ. He's the onlyperson that can change names.

You should change your name to JPJ. You Fanboy.
You should change your name to JPJ. You Fanboy.
I want to, but it would be like a complete name change rather than just taking away numbers or something of the sort. So I'm afraid it would cause confusion.

That song got stuck in my head for 2 days. I kill now

Distant Echoes 02-05-2005 10:46 AM

I love the riff from fly by night, but when i play it, i always get the aggresive natural distortion from my cheap *** guitar, so i enjoy listening to it rather then playing it

Woodstock 02-05-2005 11:55 AM

I've been playing my guitar more lately. Do you guys print out your tabs?

Allmans>Skynyrd

Badmoon 02-05-2005 12:12 PM

No, I either use Guitarport, The Dead tab site or http://www.bluegrassguitar.com
I've been playing my guitar more lately. Do you guys print out your tabs?

Hell naw biatch.

I usually just learn them beside the computer unless they are solo's where I need the amp to know if I'm doing in right or not.

I like to save paper.

JPJ change your name people will know who you are because where does a guy with 3000+ posts come from?

Broken Arrow 02-05-2005 01:30 PM
Fine. What dance music do you think I would like? Keeping in mind that I like mainly loud *** guitar rock.

I also think Warren is better. Though I do find him a bit choppy, and Derek a bit more smooth, it's irrelevant. Because look at Neil Young, or listen to "Woodstock". He can not be playing anymore jagged and choppy, but Neil is stills a fabulous guitarist. And so is Warren, as is Derek :).

Duane>Dickey>Warren>Derek
Here are some old posts that I'm going to quote.
I've been playing my guitar more lately. Do you guys print out your tabs?

Allmans>Skynyrd
I don't learn a lot of real songs from tab. I usually just improvise/write my own songs, or just try to learn a song by ear. If there's a song that I can't figure out though, I will usually print it off. I don't learn a lot of mainstream songs though, mostly bluegrass (unless I need to impress someone).

Do you guys ever go to parties, and there's a guitar there that keeps getting passed around by all the drunk people, and you get really nervous it's gonna get broken? I can't stand seeing a guitar sitting in the middle of the room, with drunk people stumbling all around it...even if I don't know who's guitar it is, I get very protective.

And I have heard way more Skynyrd than Allmans to make an educated decision on who is better...although I'd say I like Skynyrd more, just because they seem more accessable, not as good at jams though.
Here are some old posts that I'm going to quote.
As far as technical ability goes (though melodically, slide wise, and writing wise the list would be different).

Duane = Herring > Haynes = Betts > Trucks

BludgeonySteve 02-05-2005 04:01 PM

I think that we were talking about in The Allman Brothers that time. I'd put Warren ahead of Dicky for pure talent. But Dicky did better work with The Allmans.

Broken Arrow 02-05-2005 04:16 PM

I was acctually pointing out that Badmoon said Neil is a fabulous guitarist.

I also thought it was funny how Rock said he liked loud ass guitar rock.
