Sup guys, today was registration at my school. Saw a lot of friends again. 'Twas fun.
Are you going into sophomore year at Los Al?

I've been with some friends from school all summer, but mainly I've been with my buds in my neighborhood. I've always felt that people have one set of friends, whether it's from school or church or whatever. I have like four sets.

Shadows 08-31-2005 07:01 PM
Agreed.
and just to prove you wrong...I might do an interview. :p
I've seen how you talk. You could never prove me wrong. :D

Besides, I would just do an interview right afterward that totally PWNED yours.

MBS 08-31-2005 07:03 PM

Yeah, which school are you going to?

Edit: Do you know anyone who goes/is going to Los Al?

Kurtz 08-31-2005 07:09 PM
Yeah, which school are you going to?
The big CYP.

I went to register yesterday, I felt intimidated just being on campus.

Yeah, I know how you feel. Los Al's campus is so much bigger than McAuliffe's. (I went there for 6/7/8 grade)

I've taken SAT prep courses.

They're no fun. The PSAT was extremely easy though.

McAuliffe's campus is practically Oxford's campus. They look exactly the same.

I've heard bad things about the principal at Cypress, and school starts in 9 days /me dies.

Yea it was. I'm already taking one at school and now my parent's are making me take a private one too...

My parents are urging me to take SAT prep courses during the summer. I'm very adament about not taking them. I scored the highest ratings possible in almost every catergory on the PSAT, so I'll use that to persuade them otherwise.
I hate standardized testing. It's bullshit.

I did wayyy worse on the PSAT than I did on the SAT...yet I got a scholarship for my performance on the PSAT and not the SAT. Eh, either way, if you did good on the PSAT you'll do great on the SAT.

I would assume after a course (and really trying) I would do better on a SAT.

They were built using the same blueprints, and every building looks similar except it says "OXFORD" on the 2 story building instead of "EAGLES".

Everyone who goes to Los Al and lives in Rossmoor is so rich, it makes me cry.

Wow. How'd you manage to do that? I did better freshman year than sophmore on the PSAT, but we haven't taken the PSATs yet this year.

Because all my scores dropped about 100 points per section on average. Meh..whatever. I had a high SAT score at least :)

Joe 08-31-2005 07:30 PM

Ah ok.

Well I'm off to bed. I was up late (AT GREEN DAY! They really kicked ass, I don't care what anyone thinks. He's a better guitarist than the albums show)

I don't care man, he could be John fucking Petrucci for all I care, it's still pop-punk...

Hopefully I'll do better on this year's Junior PSAT than I did last year on my PSAT.

All of these acronnyms and abbreviated titles are confusing me.

Holy crap, I'm almost done organizing my music on the computer!

I may even be trendy and get an Audioscrobbler account

Of course, it will only work for eight months (since it counts all music played, and my brother listens to some awful material), but heyyyyyyy.

Get one, and revolt!

:p You could use it when you're at home, but when you log off, you could turn off your plugin with the click of a button.

ATM 08-31-2005 08:46 PM

What does your brother listen to?

Jom 08-31-2005 08:53 PM

Jake: I forgot that I could shut it off, thanks; however, I don't have any music on my desktop at home. I mean, I could throw on my external to the desktop, but that would be a pain in the ass.

He doesn't listen to horrible things, I guess.

Mainstream rock bands like 3 Doors Down, The Killers (for the sake of this discussion, I'm calling them rock), etc. He listens to a lot of modern pop-punk... Green Day, Blink-182, etc. I can't count the number of times he had Bowling For Soup blasting while he was on the computer. I would have embraced that band's execution over the summer. He has one of those iPod minis, but it's not full and not very organized. But if I had to name five bands, those would be the big five. Oh, and he has some Smash Mouth on there, for a sixth. Everything else is random crap that I don't recognize or care to acknowledge, heh.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-31-2005 09:05 PM

Wow, I used to have a real thing for Smashmouth(Back when All Star was released) I heard that song on the radio the other day, and wow! I used to be into bland music. The song was extremely boring, and just bare. :-|

NP: Symphony X- Inferno

Endless Obsession 08-31-2005 09:07 PM

Smashmouth has always been one of those bands that I found REALLY annoying. His voice, and just the way the music is put together, very annoying.

Jom 08-31-2005 09:08 PM

I don't really get what your message entails. I listen to bland music. Not everything has to register a ten on the holyshitometer of technicality. Everyone started their musical listening experience somewhere. Some are hellbent on shying away from it, some don't mind spinning "bland" music once in awhile. Music listening would be so uninspiring and, well, bland if everything was super technical wankery.

EDIT: the obvious discrepancy would be Slug, who was listening to Radiohead as soon as his mother ejaculated him from her vaginal canal.

NJMetalMeister 08-31-2005 09:09 PM
In America, it gets confusing as soon as a non-American calls a sport 'Football'.
As an american i confuse the hell out of people because of my year in europe i almost always instinctively call soccer "Football", especially because i dont enjoy american football in the least. I am one of the few americans who does not watch the superbowl, not even for the commercials.
The first Dimmu Borgir song I ever heard was on an Ozzfest 2003 sampler, and I didn't like it at all. But this song is apparently one of their older songs: Puritainia. It's rad. :thumb:
Haha thats not that old really at all, maybe a few years. When people say "Older dimmu borgir" i think back to when they still sung in norwegian.
Bodom After Midnight always makes me think of Living After Midnight by Judas Priest. :p

Bodom after midnight!
Rocking till the dawn!
Loving till the morning, then I'm gone! I'm gone!
Living After Midnight > Bodom After Midnight

No doubt bodom took the title from the old priest tune though.
I like A7X... they went power metal... :D
"Bland" doesn't automatically mean "not technical"...I wouldn't consider Dylan, Neil Young, or the Beatles to be bland by any means.
