Hahaha. Nice quasi-rap part there, Maynard.

That bassist sucked.

Well it states that refelction is a very clear piece of art, that itīs about the creation of life and the intervention of man in such and also they say itīs abotu the desecration of nature made by man, and in consequence of this the desecreation of man.

Hey Moses, I downloaded Remedy Lane and I fucking love it. I've been listening to it all day, it's unstoppable. Great stuff.

This album is really original in the way the songs are written and the way they use melodic and harmonic lines. The piano is great. Just really original, well-written stuff.

Drummer did a good job.
I just watched this finally. It was a solid cover and the vocalist's voice was REALLY similar to Maynard's, but holy crap. If that's how the band plays all their songs, then they must be the most boring live act ever.

Kage 01-14-2006 11:38 PM

They've got some great equipment. Rich ass people.

Well you know how in english, "nuts" and "balls" figuratively refer to testicles but still mean other things? Well in german Eier (eggs) is the same, it's slang for testicles. The song "die eier von satan" is a joke (it's also worth pointing out there's not really any "context" to take the word out of in its use here). Why do you think the crowd laughs every time he says "und keine eier"? There's nothing particularly funny about the word eggs, but he's pretty much saying "and no testicles," hence the reaction. Also in the rundown of the song the hash is never actually mixed into the ingrediants anyway.

Kage 01-15-2006 03:54 AM

It doesn't sound to me like they're laughing.

Spiritofmosa 01-15-2006 07:32 AM

eggs + testicles = babies

forelander 01-15-2006 08:36 AM
It doesn't sound to me like they're laughing.
maybe not laughing, but there's cheerring applause etc. There's no reason the phrase "and no eggs" would illicit any kind of response whatsoever from the crowd, unless it also meant something else as well - it's definitely intended to have double meaning and is received that way. Also, not specifically talking to you Kage, but I don't see how anyone who doesn't speak german could have any part in this argument.

Kage 01-15-2006 11:30 AM

I do speak German, kthx.

Told you. Prog at its best. Be is supposed to be really genius too but I haven't heard most of it. The concept is really cool, it's about God as a self aware being and he creates all of humanity basically to find out more about himself.

Are you talking about the concept of Remedy Lane or Be? I haven't paid much attention to lyrics, because the music has enthralled me too much.

The other stuff you showed me was meh, but I really dig the full band arrangements. But thanks for the recommendation. Undertow is my favorite song and one of the best new songs I've heard in a very long time.

denboy 01-15-2006 03:03 PM

Man, you're making me want to check out pain of salvation.. hehe

Kage 01-15-2006 03:06 PM

You should. It's well worth it. I still have the link that Moses sent me for Remedy Lane if you want me to pass it on to you.

Prince of Darkness 01-15-2006 03:35 PM

That old video of maynard live still shows his onstage moves he uses to this day. cool. The freaky 'leaning forward;staring at you while singing' moves. I like it.

Well, Mr. Expert of German and Tool, maybe there's cheering and applause because the cheering/applause has no relation to anything they're saying. As has already been said in this thread, one interpretation of the song is that it's a display of how everything is not always as it seems: the song strongly resembles Hitler's Nazi rallys, and they might have made the song knowing that a lot of people will hear it and think it's incredibly menacing and scary, yet it's merely a recipe for cookies.

hello people of this tool forum. i just wanted to add an interpretation of what disposition means to me that is.

Mention this to me, mention something mention anything mention this to me
and watch the weather change.

THese are the only lyrics throughout the song as many of you know.
but, you have to listen to the music as well, to get my view, well
i see this piece as someone who is old, or Dying. They're just sitting/lying there looking outside the window until someone mentions something to this person, and when he looks outside again the weather has changed its shaped.

This is what i got from the beauty of this song.

So it seems as though the Tool site is gonna be going through some big changes. Maybe that's the reason not much has been happening on the site...and that might also be a reason why there hasn't been a damn newsletter. Anyway, I was reading through the toolnavy boards and someone posted this link up:

http://mmusergroup.breezecentral.com/p96636002/

It's some chat going on with this web designer, Joshua Davis, who is supppose to be working on a new layout. It's a bit interesting. He talks about his first visit with Tool and he shows some pictures of the band rehearsing stuff off Lateralus. Also shows a picture of the band's toilet in the studio full of sh!t. Seems like they keep their gold and platinum records right next to it. Anyway, it's a lengthy interview. He doesn't really get into Tool probably until about thirteen mins into the chat. I didn't get all the way through it 'cause I was having problems with my computer but anyone who's bored and interested...there ya go. Nothing great but perhaps a peak into what might be the new art or theme.
