if you just wanna send a message (not a wall post) just type the names in the TO thing and click.

eh it just shows their names in blue above the message that appears to be seen by everyone

when you tag them it shows their name in blue, linking it to their page, but it will also show up on their wall. they'll get a "Tagged you in his wall post" notification.
