Considering the movement started in the 80s, and most people into hardcore were teenagers or in their twenties, the oldest they could even really be would be 45, and I'm sure there are people who are still edge, or at the very least people who are still clean, but don't claim edge or listen to hardcore anymore.

I'm getting my wisdom teeth out soon. Should I not take my Vicodin perscription? Would I really be doing what's in my best interest by sitting there in excruciating pain for two weeks?

Look at the big picture.

The elders will probrally be "drug-free", but not edge since they won't claim it anymroe or listen to hardcore. But someone can stay drug-free for their whole life.
