i think it's just funny that in r&m the bands i've seen the most over the past couple pages as being bands in common have been hardcore bands that's all.

Yeah I get where you're coming from.

Barring death metal I don't really listen to a whole lot of metal (I'd class metalcore as more of a sub genre of hardcore) and a lot of the dudes who post here listen to variants of hardcore in the shape of metalcore, and then variants of metalcore in the shape of deathcore, specifically guys like elder brent and jakey, and they like me listen to a ton of hardcore, so that's why the common bands like converge, alpinist and ceremony keep coming up.

I jumped on the hardcore bandwagon in a strange way actually. Started going to shows in my local area and got more acquainted with the underground UK hardcore scene and through bands like Dead Swans, More than Life (find it funny I was listening to these guys 2 years ago and now everyone loves them) and Brutality Will Prevail before I heard of ceremony or black flag.

i got into it from just being into punk. my uncle who was really involved in the 90s chicago scene hooked me up with a bunch of burned cds when i was 12-13-14, and i was hooked. of course then i didn't know what i was listening to was "hardcore", i just thought it was punk. the first time i head the term hardcore used in connection with specific bands were the fashiony metalcore bands of about 6-7 years ago, i.e. norma jean, 18 visions, atreyu, et al. i found this site and got into a bunch of different shit from the old hardcore/emo forum, and then started going to shows about 4 years ago. <3 the core.

I got into hardcore because a friend in school gave a Gorilla Biscuits/Black Flag mix cd.

Hah my dad was really into 2-tone and Ska/Ska punk from back in the day, so I grew up with that influence, had a bit of an indie fag phase from 14-16 though before I started going to local metalcore/death metal shows though.

i used to listen to a bunch of punk/older hardcore back in the day, but never even knew shows happened until i was like 16 or so. still didn't go to a real show outside of warped tour type stuff until i was 17, and that was whitechapel. the overwhelming examples of hatemosh witnessed that day changed my life.

i miss when whitechapel were still locals and played floor shows to like 2-300 kids here. half of my friends are thanked on the somatic defilement lol.
