Oh dude...thank you SO much. It's great for auditions, it'll work, don't worry about the timing.

Good luck with your exam.

Drum Phil 03-08-2006 06:47 AM

Alright kids,

I can either get a Roland TD-6 or a Yamaha DTXpress III for about £700.

Which do you reccomend?

Corkofski 03-08-2006 06:49 AM

dont ask me phil, im looking as well...

Drum Phil 03-08-2006 06:53 AM

Can i point you in a nice direction as to where to get them? Both those sets normally land around the £8/900 mark.

Get your gear from http://www.thomann.de :) Ships from germany and avoids customs and all that crap :)

Corkofski 03-08-2006 06:54 AM

ok, thanks!

Actually, that looks like a killer list. I'm assuming you're catering to some metal-heads, huh?

\m/>_<\m/

I'll reccomend Freur Frei over Keine Lust for Rammstein, but that's just my taste. Children of Bodom. Nice. You may want to throw some Opeth into there, but I know how you despise them.

Drum Phil 03-08-2006 07:59 AM

I have the latest Opeth album anyway. I dunno bout feur frei mind. I love Keine Lust too much :p

Im not sure wether i prefer the Tokyo Warhearts version of Silent Night, Bodom Night or not.

I cater to metal heads and punk kids mainly :)

crazyguy832 03-08-2006 08:12 AM

Ghost Reverries is amazing, isn't it?

The Grand Conjuration = friggin amazing song

\m/RAWR\m/

If possible, I'd avoid playing Bodies. Yeah, it's good, but overused... they probably won't notice, but that's one sour spot (imo) on your list.

Drum Phil 03-08-2006 08:24 AM

I dont think its EVER been played at all since the days of me playing there with my old band :|

Im gonna give that album another listen, see if it can change my mind about it.

Drum Phil 03-08-2006 08:27 AM

No i cant do it. Its still terrible.

The Ska Man 03-08-2006 10:19 AM
How close is the next nhbr? Thats cool to be polite. I hate those "Its my dang land, I do what I want"
Sorry about not seeing this earlier. Ummmmm, it's a town house, meaning our house share a wall, and luckily, that wall is in my room, no basement(FLORIDA!), soElectronic is pretty much the way to go IMO.

Jezen 03-08-2006 11:12 AM

Phil your setlist is crap without Tool.

Drum Phil 03-08-2006 12:12 PM

Biatch.

I might sneak some Dream Theatre in, see if anyone notices

Tim 03-08-2006 12:17 PM

making coffee. :D:D:D

psychocream 03-08-2006 12:22 PM

well i shall start to post here.

my name is dan. i have been playing drums for 6 years and i am 14. i mainly use vic firth american classics (5b) because i love the feel of them. My kits brand is bad karma to say, because its not very good lol and i use zxt's which i like even tho some people tryed to convince me not to get them. i am mainly into rock and punk but i do listen to metal, jazz, blues r&b ect. i am in a band which isn't going to well as the bassist is a mardy mother Fo, so thats about it. im getting a new kit soon (99% chance it will be a mapex).

Drum Phil 03-08-2006 12:51 PM

Welcome to the forums, ignore the knobs and you'll be fine :)

gimp fest 03-08-2006 12:55 PM

yes, welcome indeed, you will learn so much here you won't believe it.

on a side note, does anybody want to by an AA rock cymbal set brand new?

Tim 03-08-2006 12:55 PM
That photo is awesome :D
yea i wanted to be a smart ass so i googled door knob and that was like the 4th pic i saw.

Jezen 03-08-2006 01:26 PM

That sort of thing would look nice if it was the same style but hand hammered brass..

RushHourSoul 03-08-2006 01:34 PM

I had a university audition today.. played drums. Kicked some arse too if i dont mind saying so myself.. Was supposed to play to a backing track but in the end I couldnt hear it and there where no headphones about, so I just did a little improvised 'solo', tried to show off some jazz and reggae styles and did some nice funk & rock grooves. Went well and they offered me a place at the uni. :)

Jezen 03-08-2006 01:47 PM

NICE! Great stuff man glad to hear it!

RushHourSoul 03-08-2006 01:55 PM

Thanks! I'm really pleased. All of the other drummers I heard where just generic metal/rock drummers who where just banging on the kit for 10 minutes.

Was my birthday yesterday, and one of my friends got me 'The Legendary SKATALITES In Dub The Skatalites meet King Tubby' on vinyl record. I havn't played it yet but its a collectors limited edition on red vinyl, looks so nice.

The Ska Man 03-08-2006 02:49 PM

Sweet-ness.

And, Phil, hows your uncle man?

-Obscurity- 03-08-2006 02:55 PM

Ok, quick question, which 18" cymbal would be best suited for crash riding on a recording? I was thinking about an A-custom projection or medium crash, but I wasn't sure about the projection because the Z-custom projection is seriously the worst crash I have ever heard. I was worried the similar enlarged bell on the A-custom projection might give a sound I'm not looking for as well.

Corkofski 03-08-2006 03:09 PM

:(

my ex gf just told the whole of myspace i have a small **** :(

Jezen 03-08-2006 03:18 PM

Ouch. Sorry to hear that.

Corkofski 03-08-2006 03:21 PM

funny thing is, im actually quite big, but she was useless at turning me on :P

Janeway 03-08-2006 03:21 PM

I want to see Akira.
They've got it at the library, but my mom doesn't let me take videos out from there anymore because I accidentally ran up an $18 overdue fee on the last one I got.
