Which?

Just another one of the unending birthday wishes, except this time it was written by Danny.

The only good thing you will ever do.

Die.

Sorry, but it was just too perfect to let it go by. :p

Anyways, if you don't like that song, then you either a) don't get Tool or b) are too big of a Tool fanboy to admit that what the dude said was funny, even though he was poking fun at Tool.

No, not that one. There was an update on the 6th which said..'COMING SOON' and then there was a picture of some like...mayan thing or something. I don't know exactly what it was. I guess it was up for a while before taking it down. I saw the picture posted on another board....let me find it and I'll post up in here.

misunderstood 01-08-2006 01:13 AM

Ok, well, I couldn't find a way to upload the darn image on here (don't even know if we can) so I'll just link it...It's the first post on there.

Oh, and turns out it's not Mayan...It's Aztec and someone at toolnavy posted this article about the piece (if anyone's interested):

Anyway, that's the update I saw on Toolband two days ago.

Maybe DVD? :D

ZaaR 01-08-2006 08:44 PM

You guys are my last hope. I'm doing a project on my hero, and I'm doing it on Maynard. I have to do a collage, and I have to make different sections for parts of his life. I want the middle of my collage to be his bands, and his fame. I want the outer of it to be about being raped in a toolshed, but I don't know what other sections I should do. Can you guys please give me 2 or 3 more things that I can do?

Futuro 01-08-2006 08:46 PM

Military, Throw in some wierd art as well.

ZaaR 01-08-2006 08:48 PM

Yes, I was planning on doing something about the military. And what do you mean by wierd art?

Thanks alot!

Futuro 01-08-2006 08:50 PM
And what do you mean by wierd art?
Alex grey, chet zar. Tool seems to have an appreciation for surreal and abstract art.

ZaaR 01-08-2006 08:52 PM

Thank you so much, that's just what I needed!

I appreciate it alot man

Don't forget Cam De Leon, the artists behind the Ænima eye and the painting of those wierd babies and that masked deal. :p

I read a cool thing about him; he uses oil based paints for the actual "painting", but he does most of his work in Photoshop.

I think they're different enough bands that they shouldn't even be compared, they just have the same singer. Who even sings about different topics.

any nerd with enough time on his nands can use photoshop to make something cool. it takes talent to paint something cool. not bashing any artists that use photoshop, there is some cool **** out there done with it, just too many people do it nowadays and cant actually make art.

Dried Muffin Remnants 01-09-2006 05:42 PM

Tool has the coolest, weird-*** art.

I like GY!SE artwork alot as well, probably more than Tool... same with Radiohead and Dredg.

I just ordered the infinity symbol CD, I can't wait to hear it.

As for artwork, I agree, the stuff in Lateralus is awesome. My least favorite album art would have to be Porcupine Tree's. Aside from the IA album cover, they've never had a really captivating cover. Their band PHOTOS, on the other hand, are badass awesome.

I loovvveee F#A#(infinity symbol). The artwork isn't anything really impressive, but I feel it's very effective, and serves it's purpose more than most of Tool's artwork. If I weren't so into Jaga Jazzist right now, I'd probably be listening to that. Well, that or Ágætis Byrjun.

I disagree. I would appreciate that you don't present your opinion as pure fact though, but I, and a ton of people I know much prefer APC to Tool. I love Tool, but I realize they're one dimensional as hell and while their progressive input and lengthy songs are impressive, they're not what I look for in a "favorite band" or anything. Most of their songs sound the same to me.
On the other hand every APC song is a different ride for me. The ambient atmosphere and (by FAR) the melodies and emotions presented surpass Tool in virtually all ways I can come up with. Not to say Tool doesn't do that better than, oh, 80% of the bands I listen to, I just find APC to top them in all manners I find important.

This, of course, disregards Emotive. Decent album, I don't hate it, but I can safely say anything Tool has ever done tromps it it every way.

Please explain this and then name me one band who puts more thought or care into all facets of their art than Tool.

I love that album too.
But I've been listening to Lift You Skinny Fists alot.

It's kinda creepy at some parts.
Well it is for me anyway, especially Storm.
