is that a serious question
Yeah, why? Should it not be? Am I displaying a level of ignorance of the genre that astounds you? I make no claim to know even the first thing about post rock or how to classify a band as such.

keyboardxmosh 09-01-2008 12:38 PM
I am pretty much a Post Rock noob, so other than Sigur Ros and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, I don't know any post rock.

Any recommendations.
AfroMan 09-03-2008 06:03 PM

Post rock bands I've seen live - Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, ISIS, Pelican, 65DaysOfStatic, Eluvium, *shels, Red Sparowes, Battles, Cult of Luna, Russian Circles

Anyone know when Yndi Halda are gonna release something new?

Angmar 09-03-2008 06:04 PM

Are Sigur Ros really good live? tbh I haven't seen any of their videos, too lazy.

oh gawd 09-03-2008 06:06 PM

what does everyone think of The Ascent Of Everest? someone just reviewed their album on sputnik a few days ago. the song "Alas" is like ohmygawd wow.

I saw them in 2005 when they played their first show before the release of 'Takk'. They were unbelievable. Going to see them again in November. You should buy their dvd if you wanna get a better idea of what they are like live... its well worth the money.

Angmar 09-03-2008 06:20 PM

Well, at $400+ a ticket right now, I'd say not so much. :(

AfroMan 09-03-2008 06:26 PM

$400?

It's costing me £23.50 to see them in November.

Angmar 09-03-2008 06:27 PM

I think it's all sold out over here, and people are charging ridiculous prices.

I'll look around some more but it looks grim.

I saw them about 2 months ago and yeah they were very very very good.

And I support the notion to get Heima, it's awesome ... and it shows you what to expect if you ever do see them.

LifeInABox 09-04-2008 03:30 PM

tickets here are $25 to $35, but I couldn't order them for some reason, even though they weren't sold out :upset:

jrowa001 09-04-2008 03:31 PM

no, not at all. I would say the song comforting sounds has a post rock feel and maybe be passed off a post rock song, but thats it really.
**** you pelican **** you playing 18+ ****ing venues

****
See, normally I'd be mad.

BUT I'M FINALLY 18!

Sponer 09-04-2008 09:15 PM

i've never seen an 18+ venue tbh.

but i was pretty pissed when i saw EVERY Rosetta show was 21+ (last time I checked, anyway, which like like 3 months ago). the band is from like ten minutes away from me (I think) and I can't even go to a fckin show.

gmoneyguy 09-04-2008 10:56 PM

18+ and 21+ make for better shows tbh.
