I wanted to look into his stuff... whats wrong with it?
Its good stuff, but just not for everyone I guess (Some consider him a wanker, other consider him a god). I love John's solos. He was the reason why I got a guitar 5 years ago. I recommend looking into some of his works before deciding if you like it or not. EDIT: Most of it is shred. |
Recommand me something? I love his solos to, I hate when hes called a wanker... so what if he plays fast?
|

I dunno, I really liked him in dream theatre but I really dont like him solo. |

The Glass Prison Under a glass moon As I am This Dying Soul Metropolis Part 1 In the Name of God Pull Me Under Endless Sacrifice ... I could just continue, but those are some of my favorites. Or did you mean Liquid Tension Experiment stuff (Side project)? |
Were talking about John Petruccis solo stuff... not Dream Theater.
|
Were talking about John Petruccis solo stuff... not Dream Theater.
The stuff i heard was from flight of the mosquito(song) `does anyone know how to check how you got your reputation points. I'm at -10 and i cant figure out why. |
Were talking about John Petruccis solo stuff... not Dream Theater.
Oh, sorry. About that. For his solo stuff, I like Jaws of Life, Glassgow Kiss and black ice |
Yeah just click user CP.
apparently, I'm at -10 because i douple post too much. Since when is that a crime? |
Its just frowned upon, use the edit button.
And thanks for the recommendations. |

Well, I picked up Scenes From A Memory today (along with Dredg's new album) and I think it's my new favorite Theater album. The instrumentals are fantastic and the concept is really cool.

It's absolutely excellent, some of Labrie's vocals on it are nothing short of beautiful. |

LaBrie is so underrated. :upset: |
indeed
LaBrie rocks dämn people for hating him bacuae he sounds like 'he got his balls cut off' |
LaBrie is so underrated. :upset:
He's one of my favourite vocalists for a good reason, he rules so much... |
The stuff i heard was from flight of the mosquito(song)
I think you mean Bite of the mosquito, that was actually a bonus track on the An Evening with Petrucci and Rudess live album |
LaBrie is an increadable singer his rage and pitch are amazing
its just that the timbre accent and sound of his voice are irritating (nowhere near Mustaines leuge of irritation) now eventually it just sets in and you don't mind anymore but in the begining its irritating |
indeed
LaBrie rocks dämn people for hating him bacuae he sounds like 'he got his balls cut off'
I only hate him when he "jams" along with the band with his shakers or tamborine. |
Do we have a bassist in here who can do the solo in Metropolis Pt. 1?
Because if we do, help me out!
What do you need help with? |
I only hate him when he "jams" along with the band with his shakers or tamborine.
Hahaha it makes me laugh when i see that, its pretty much pointless, and his credits say vocals and percussion, i guess he never wanted to give up being a drummer, hahah it still makes me laugh seeing him shake that tambourine, it is a hard instrument to play... |
I only hate him when he "jams" along with the band with his shakers or tamborine.
it's kind of funny indeed :p but it sounds very goo in the beginning of Hollow Years I find it a bit annoying when there is an instrumnetal part and James just goes backstage. I mean the instrumental part is part of DT too, and so is LaBrie, so IMO he should just stay ob the stage and rock along. he is the vocalist/frontman, although one could argue about Mikebeing frontman, but still |

Haha, Mike is the energy of the band. Has anyone noticed the transion of Myung? like, watch him on the Tokyo DVD, he's head banging and walking around on stage (most notably on the Ytse Jam) and then you watch the Budokan, he just stands there. Makes me kinda sad :( |
also Spock's Beard
and of course Liquid Tension Experiment
spock's beard is incredible. it's incredibly rare to find a band in the 21st century that understands vocal counterpoint as well as spock's beard . . . |
I love having Images and words on Minidisk...
I get funny looks if I sing random parts like "This one will last for ever!" |

It has always been something that has annoyed people. The edit button is there for a reason. and -10? I have been -600 before so count yourself lucky. I am +159 now though :p I must admit it took alot of redeeming. |

Has Myung had some sort of accident on stage or something so now he doesn't dare move? hmmmm.... what about when Myung rugby tackled Labrie for a bet. I can't imagine that of him now. It's funny on LSFNY(or Budokan... i can't remember) when LaBrei has his hands over Myungs shoulders and he looks really scared, and when DT did the cover of Damage inc with Barney Greenway(Nalpalm Death) and Myung is just standing in the corner playing along and laughing Barney's vocals. ahhhhh.....Myung, what a guy |

Myung just looks tired on the Budokan DVD. When did he tackle LaBrie? I wanna see! :) I think he's just really reclusive. I really think he doesn't feel appreciated by the band. They don't seem to really acknowledge him anymore. If I was in his place, I would feel really hurt with LTE, I mean, he wasn't good enough to do it, but Mike, John and Jordan just decide to do something together without him? Then with Mike and John really just stiffling his creativeness (for instance, they said that they told Myung to come with a song in proper format or dont bring it up, which is sad because Learning to Live and Lifting Shadows off a Dream are amazing songs!). I don't know though, that's what I've observed. He's naturally been pretty shy guy, so maybe he's just gotten more reclusive. |

yeah, I kind of agree. Myung is one of the best musicaians I know of.. :p So laid back, so quiet, all he does is play bass.... :D |

I got live at the marquee today, impressions of it when I get in from school, guys...

So you basically had it right just backwards. Anyone with a booklet handy corroborate this? |

OK...live at the Marquee is pretty amazing... Bombay Vindaloo sounds like a mix of Rush and Iron Maiden and Led Zep...
