Oh man, Irvine is beautiful. I just moved here from Dallas, TX. and UC Irvine is like 5-10 minutes from the beach (Newport). It's a really good school too, they just added new dorms.
Nice, I will definitely give it more consideration if I can get a scholarship.
I see that there are lots of shows down there, which is definitely a plus.

Where do you live right now?

victimofreality 10-14-2004 08:34 PM

I live in Yreka, California. It is right on I-5, about 20 miles south of the Oregon Border. Yeah, I looked at it, only thing is that it is really big.

True, nothing compared to UCLA, but it has about 24,000 compared to 14,000 at Santa Cruz. I didn't apply there though.

Anyway, is it a lot of local bands down there, or is it mostly just tours?

And if you like Terror or Donnybrook be prepared to see tons and tons of them.

AARON27 10-14-2004 08:58 PM

I'm seeing Most Precious Blood/Shotpointblank on the 29 and 30th.

shane italian 10-14-2004 09:00 PM

31st is Terror/It Dies Today/Cold War/Donnybrook/Day Of Contempt

I most likely won't go though.

CONNER_NWHC 10-14-2004 09:02 PM

Why would you miss that?

AARON27 10-14-2004 09:05 PM

Day Of Contempt are awesome

shane italian 10-14-2004 09:09 PM
Why would you miss that?
I only have so much cash.

CONNER_NWHC 10-14-2004 09:12 PM

I can usually only afford one or maybe two shows a month.

AARON27 10-14-2004 09:13 PM
I only have so much cash.
Save your pocket money

I think i'm seeing Terror in January, i missed them last time because it was raining.
Luckier than me. My "scene" is myself. There are some kids that are pop-punk emo (Taking Back Sunday, Matchbook Romance etc), some harder mainstream (Green Day, Billy Talent, The Vines) and some metalheads.
same
Actually 3 other people maybe that like the same music as me.

BuddyBigsby 10-15-2004 01:27 AM
what chu talkin bout, the jersey scene is good. We may not have as many shows as Buddy does, but we do have a fair amount.
I forgot to mention I have DEP / Zao / ETID / Misery Signals next week also.

BuddyBigsby 10-15-2004 01:29 AM
that would never happen because screamo sucks it's just a bunch of whinny pussys
Yeah, my favorite screamo band will make your favorite band sound like N'Sync, pussy.

Gotkookie 10-15-2004 01:30 AM

hahaha, let me know what the pit looks like at DEP, I always wondered what their shows are like, since they have odd time signatures.

BuddyBigsby 10-15-2004 01:32 AM

My friend saw DEP a few months ago and apparently some guy was breakdancing.

Gotkookie 10-15-2004 01:33 AM

Cant imagine hardcore dancing at those shows, must be a challenge to keep up.

PlasticGangster 10-15-2004 01:47 AM

I saw Remembering Never, The Black Dahlia Murder, Terror, and Unearth on Wednesday. It was fawking sweet.

BuddyBigsby 10-15-2004 01:53 AM

I saw that tour tonight but only Unearth. Worst crowd ever. Unearth kinda act like rock stars now too.

Unearth seemed like normal guys to me, they signed alot of stuff and hung out with people after the show, as did terror. Tonight I saw Fear Before The March Of Flames

Nope. I'm at school right now... I'll be going to Most Precious Blood, Anterrabae, The Backup Plan, Zombie Apocolypse at CBGB's the following Sunday.

axeslinga_32 10-15-2004 10:40 AM
I'm seeing Most Precious Blood/Shotpointblank on the 29 and 30th.
what are most precious blood like? shotpointblank aint too shabby, but not the best band in the world. They are fun, they are like hatebreed and pantera's lovechild. mindsnare is where it's at.
wow there is still a scene at cbgb's? is it primarilly hardcore these days?
CBGB's has everything these days. Blindside and Mewithoutyou played their recently, I saw Stretch Arm Strong, Terror, and Between the Buried and Me there in June, I saw Comeback Kid, Champion, and Blacklisted there in July, and Autopilot Off and The Riddlin Kids even played there in June.

There is also a lounge downstairs that a lot of local bands play at--check out www.purevolume.com/yourdaystrong.

I've seen Dillinge twice, and I don't know what pits are like where you are from, but in Philly it was the most violent thing I have ever witnessed, maybe even including Slayer. At on show the pit started as soon as the guitars were being soundchecked, no lie. They had a strobe light going that followed the time signatures which was awesome, it probably would of hurt my head if it wasn't for all the shots i was taking, i got hit with a chain in my arm which wasn't cool at all. People were jumping off the second level into the pit like it was nothing. The other time I saw them two people started a fire in the middle of the pit. And I saw some kid holding like four of his teeth in his hand, and there was one kid that fell and snapped his ankle, I couldn't lokk at it because it was so nasty. Everyone around stopped and helped him out so they could get him to a hospital. Oh yea, I forgot to tell you, the first show I told you about was the last time I saw them, it was with the new singer but on 43% Burnt Dimtri came out and did the song and then they lit stuff on fire. so more or less Dillinger puts on the best show you will ever see and the pits are awesome.

that was the same exact thing said about the show here. i didn't go, but supposedly the crowd consisted of a lot of nu-metal and fashioncore kids and unearth acted like they were big rock stars.

i'm from philly too, they're playing here again in a few weeks.

Yea, I'm trying to get tickets as soon as possible. I think they're playing at the Troc, but I'm not 100% sure. I saw them there before, but the show at the Electric Factory was better. The show will still rule no matter where they're playing at though cause Dillinger owns.

cbmartinez 10-15-2004 05:20 PM

My friend's band is play at the Trocadero for a battle of the bands. They're pretty bad though, Blind Deceptions is the name. They're battling some prog. band called Epistar who is supposedly really good. Blind Deceptions thinks they're hot shit cause they have five members. I told him (my friend, the singer) to tell the people in Philly that they were an edge band, and more people would like them.

NewKindofArmy03 10-15-2004 07:57 PM

what kind of band is your friend's band and is it only two bands?

cbmartinez 10-15-2004 08:13 PM

Their like "emo/screamo (the fake kind)." I'm not sure if any other bands are playing.
