There's a torrent on torrentspy.com

A lot of Trivium solos piss me off actually... It's not that I don't enjoy them, or find them bad or anything, but I really feel that they could add a lot more to the songs if they weren't mostly just shredding. IMO of course :)

XEmoXTearsX 09-19-2006 01:32 PM

I havn't really heard that many tunes by Trivium, but from what i have heard, they are one of my favorite bands! I'ver listened to: Dying in your arms, Pull harder on the strings, A gunshot to the head, The Anthem, and i think i've listened to one more, but i don't know.....and can't remember what it's called. I really want to get one of Trivium's albums.

Quiksilver26 09-19-2006 02:18 PM

From that list, it sounds like you've heard mostly stuff off Ascendancy.. so that should probably be the first one that you get. I really recommend The Crusade though, i've listened to it almost as much as A Matter of Life and Death (which is a hell of a lot).

If you prefer screaming over singing go Ascendancy.
Otherwise wait for the Crusade (or just get both lol)

LJJPLJ 09-21-2006 08:06 AM

I personally like the new album, i think their musicianship has grown from the last album.

Really? I recommend you dissect there solos once more and give em' another chance. I think they are very good at keeping great melodies and good shred in good balance and harmony.

MRDuCran 09-21-2006 02:11 PM

I think their solos sound very amature tbh.

I actually did this today , can't seem to stop listening to The Crusade. My opinion however hasn't really changed... I can see where you're coming from though. In terms of solos I like the one in And Sadness Will Sear the most, that's a damn good one :).

I dunno, to me it just seems that they're playing fast for the sake of it =\

exup 09-25-2006 09:29 AM

Singing on the last album is crap, can't take this band serious anymore...
aren't they going to far with there "uh yeah we wanna be like metallica" stuff..

Jimi Haze 09-25-2006 11:21 AM

Bah.

New album is really good I think. Although I'm still not sure if any song has the appeal of Gunshot or Pull Harder...

Gunshot and pull harder are like Triviums prized songs. They are the songs that took them from unknown to known unless your a crazy fan that knew them before. If you listen to the new album thinking about those songs your not going to like it. Or maybe you will just an opinion

I never said I disliked the new album - far from it - I think it's bloody awesome. I like how he's singing more even if it is like a certain Mr Hetfield.

Detonation blew me away when I first heard it - as did The Crusade.

Buttloaves 09-25-2006 04:40 PM

The 1st 5 tracks on The Crusade are good, after that, it drops off for me. I like Ignition the best, the vocal melody is sweet.

SimonCore 09-27-2006 01:08 PM

Entrance of the Conflagration is good atm. As is Ignition and Detonation, Anthem I got bored of after like the 3rd listen. There's one called something like "the world can't tear us apart" and it's one of the worst songs I've ever heard.

It's a very decent album, but it doesn't even scratch Ascendancy.

DKMode 10-10-2006 06:41 PM

picked up the new cd today and i love it. i really dont see why everyone is saying its master of puppets but 20 years later. aside from the obvious fact that metallica influenced them, i really dont see that much resemblance, and its certainly not a rip off. and all the people say that matt heafy is trying to sound like hetfield...........shut the **** up. why dont you say dave mustaine, or phil anselmo, or the singer from basically all heavy bands after metallica are trying to copy him too. it just happens to be a good way of singing in thrash metal. kudos to trivium though cuz i think they did a great job on this one.

Buttloaves 10-10-2006 06:43 PM

Contempt Breeds Contamination sounds like a song from a band called.....Nevermore maybe?

It's the 7 string that does that I think.

Drunken Viking 10-10-2006 07:49 PM

Matt described the intro as Technical Death Metal.

Huber 10-10-2006 08:11 PM

Yeah, the way he labels stuff sometimes is odd. Especially after like, you see him wearing a Death shirt and then goes saying that.

But whatever, as a person Matt's kinda lame anyways.

Nepenthe 10-10-2006 08:13 PM

Yeah, Matt reminds me of that 13 year old who found a Nile cd at Best Buy.

Drunken Viking 10-10-2006 08:36 PM

I think he just has no idea of what it takes to be considered a technical band. Yes every band has technical parts, but bands like Necrophagist and later era Death have earned that title because almost all of their riffs are at least a little challenging, and their solos are inhumane. All I can that matt does is tremelo pick with his right hand while moving down the strings, and with his left he does similar fingering patterns.

Nepenthe 10-10-2006 08:51 PM

Well you see, there's a difference between technical and challenging. Matt writes challenging riffs and solos (well, some), but not technical. Technical moreso refers to odd time signatures, different picking techniques, weird scales and all that jazz. I just don't think he realizes the difference between the two.

Eliminator 10-10-2006 08:53 PM

matt reminds me of a 13 year old who constantly attempts to play eruption in a guitar center and yet still has a sense of dignity

Nepenthe 10-10-2006 09:11 PM

He's really ugly too.

Drunken Viking 10-10-2006 09:12 PM

 I can totally see that being true.

Hahahahaha, it's sad how nicely those two sync up.
