I saw the Portland show as well!
Maybe he was that stupid teenager I stood next to during the encore. |
What a dork.
John, make sure you troll that guy like nothing else |
Ok guys I have Endless Wire for download. Rather then ask for emaill addresses I'm just going to post the link on the board, as we're all fans here and i would suppose its cool as long as no one turns me in:
http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=B529E5C7470BE057 Here is my review on sputnik: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/album.php?reviewid=9683&page=1#lastpost The Who have lots of good material on here. Unfortunately Pete Townshend gets in the way of it with his arty pretentions. What he added to the mini opera Wire & Glass which comprises the second half of the album sounds much like filler and the first half of the album (Endless Wire) doesn't quite come together and is a bit uneven. Therefore I have trimmed the fat off my copy and rearranged the playing order of the songs. You may want to do the same after you here the album. Or even before. It makes a substantial difference. Here is my final track listing taken from the 19 tracks included (21 with the extended cuts of WGOH and EW) 1.Fragments 2,We Got A Hit (Extended Version) 3. It's Not Enough 4. Black Widow's Eyes 5. A Man In A Purple Dress 6. Mike Post Theme 7. Two Thousand Years 8. Endless Wire (Extended Version) 9. Sound Round 10. Pick Up The Peace 11. They Made My Dreams Come True 12. Mirror Door 13. Tea And Theater 14. You Stand By Me I must say if this had been the album The Who released it would of been easier to digest, as trimming really does improve the whole. What they released needs some editing, IMO. So the above is what I recommend for a true Who experience. You can forget the rest, as you aren't missing anything and IMO it intrudes on things. Enjoy... EDIT: If you are one of the first few posters to grab this and the page turns over please quote the download link in your post so it will carry over to the next page. Thanks.... |
have you guys seen the tommy/quad dvd? its pretty awesome. im currently working on a major review for it that i was hooping to get out either today or tommorow, but it looks like that's not going to happen.
|
and where is the "God Speaks of Marty Robbins" ?, best song from the record by far. Uncertain Girl was also far better than most what is on it now. I guess Roger just couldn't sing it (just like he can't sing "2000 Years" either) like Pete was talking about on ITA. Should have been included with Pete doing it.
----- 1.Fragments 2,We Got A Hit (Extended Version) 3. It's Not Enough 4. Black Widow's Eyes 5. A Man In A Purple Dress 6. Mike Post Theme 7. Two Thousand Years 8. Endless Wire (Extended Version) 9. ^ "Marty Robbins Speakes To God" is fine. I suppose its interchangeable with a track or two here. But for my taste it makes for a little too much acoustic stuff on the album.

Alright, I just uploaded these. Enjoy.
http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=-3099526434105125496&hl=en-CA http://video.google.ca/videoplay?docid=8562053248208051648&hl=en-CA The first is A Quick One from The Rolling Stone's Rock and Roll Circus, which is one of my favorite pieces of live footage of any song ever. The Second is Man In A Purple Dress from Letterman. Really good performance too. |
i love the rock and roll cricus performance.
legand has it that the rolling stones withheld the footage for ages because they felt the who's performance overshadowed them. not sure how true that is... thanks alot, great stuff |
Great videos! Thank you!
|
Wow. "Man in a Purple Dress" is so beautiful. I'm glad that Pete and Roger were able to write a mellow, acoustic song, and not have it sound cheesey (as many musicians have when they reach that age). I'm looking forward to the album more and more.
It's due out tommorrow, right? |

Thats what I like about it. Moon was fantastic in that clip. What a loon. |
I've been listening to that song non stop lately. It's just so good.
I learnt how to play it on guitar today. I think I'll try to get together a band now that will play it with me. : o |
This is pretty nice. New live stuff from a TV taping:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsIhAAHC2bA Also just want to say Best Buy stores will have this available Tuesday with the included 5 song bonus live DVD and a Best Buy Exclusive bonus CD with seven live songs, so far as I understand. All for the low low price of $9.99 while supplies last. |

some 1966 live footage
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qPusoBVN69M Here is some live footage from 1972 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJb4qnV7ir0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRpuLnfTnHI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_Q6HrMX5-s If people didn't notice these check them out, http://youtube.com/watch?v=37J91o-GyvM http://youtube.com/watch?v=YSAnHDLvkes http://youtube.com/watch?v=N03mUxdzOAs http://youtube.com/watch?v=5aadBKgetqA http://youtube.com/watch?v=U4xl2RtNqOQ Townshend doing seriously good acoustic versions of Psychoderelict stuff , they great and much better than the new stuff. Pete really dropped the ball with the Endless Wire which was unexpected and quite disappointing |
its not legend, its actually a very common fact.
ok then, but there's alot of things like that which are just hearsay. it is a great performance though |
I'm skipping school tommorow to get the album right away. The colletion will be complete.
|
is it gonna be in stores tomorrow or just shipped to stores tomorrow?
|
damnit **** I'm confused.
I want to get the limited edition one, as it comes with a DVD according to this: http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFSM2124883&catid=21010 But I don't know if that if best buy only, as John said. I can get the album tomorrow no problem, but if they don't have the special edition at the music stores, then I will want the one from Best Buy or whatever, but my friend is going there tomorrow, and I have to phone him but he will probably buy the cheapest. -_- brb whilst i get my thoughts together |
There is a store around here selling the cd+dvd for $10 US.
As far as I know, it's not just Best Buy. |
my computer at home is down thanks to HD failure and some bios problems installing the new one. or something. so i may not be around a lot for the release so far as posting is concerned, but here is the info on the release.
most/many/all releases of Endless Wire i believe come with the DVD. the best buy info i saw has an additional disc, an audio cd. its a live disc. seven songs. so that makes a total of 3 discs from best buy. and yeah i think its an exclusive. |
Oh, that's different then. I'll have to look for that!
|
damnit
|
Just though this was worth posting:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Za1DWb3dTNo&mode=related&search= Anyone buy Endless Wire yet? |
I have class at two then I'm going to the store after to get it.
|
Holy crap it comes out today!
Eh, I'm waiting for my birthday (Nov 26th). I'm already buying the 'official bootleg' of the Portland show as soon as I get my check in the bank. |
