I never really saw the big deal about The Wall. I liked it don't get me wrong but I don't think it was as good as Dark side of the moon or Wish you were here
|
I personally just like the feel of the Wall, and the solo in Comfortably Numb is untouchable.

Pigs solo > Comfortable Numb solo. |
Pigs solo > Comfortable Numb solo.
Comfortably Numb Solo on Pulse > Pigs solo |
Comfortably Numb Solo on Pulse > Pigs solo
Truth. |
Comfortably Numb Solo on Pulse > Pigs solo
Yeah, the pulse version is definately the best. |
Pigs solo > Comfortable Numb solo.
What but then after you say it is worse. I am confused. |
Ive been learning Comfortably Numb and I found its really not so difficult. Just up and down the scale on the 7th fret, then it goes right back down moderatly fast.
Live, its amazing though, it just suits the song so well, so Id have to say its better then Pigs by a landslide |
I'm listening to the solo off PULSE. Probably the only solo that can truely bring me to tears, as stupid as that might sound.

So I saw Beyond The Darkside: The Ultimate Pink Floyd Tribute on their farewell to Australia tour. It was absolutely brilliant. "Gilmour" sang and played so much like the real thing, it was startling. Although "Roger" didn't sing, most of the songs were still really great.
They played: All of Wish You Were Here (The Album) A really smooth transition from Shine On You Crazy Diamond (6-9) to an abridged version of Echoes. Then "Gilmour" talked for a while, before the band started to play Learning To Fly, Dogs Of War, On The Turning Away, One Of These Days, and a shorter version of Pigs(Three Different Ones). After intermission, they came back, and played ALL of Dark Side Of The Moon, complete with the best rendition of Time I have heard live (yes it was better than Pink Floyd itself  ). They then played In The Flesh?, Mother, Goodbye Blue Sky, Another Brick In The Wall (1,2 and 3), Comfortably Numb, and Run Like Hell as an encore. I loved it. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. And at three hours, it is brilliant value for money. So check them out if you hear them coming to a place near you. |

I use a flanger for the first solo to make it sound better. The second solo is all about the low end and fuzz. |
Hey Everyone! I've been on and off of Musician Forums for quite some time now, and over the past 6 months, Floyd's become my favorite band, and I like pretty much everything they ever did. So I'm probly gonna post in here a lot. Uhm, I'm not really gonna have time to read through all the posts anytime soon, so if I said something that was already said, just punch me. Well, Bye all.
|
O yea...I also play guitar too...and yea, I was wondering what to use for the Comfortably Numb solo, so thanks. Awxome.
|
/e-punched.
And I've always used chorus on the Comfortably Numb solos. How does the flanger sound? |
what kind of amp/guitar do you have?
|
Ibanez guitar and amp (both cheap). I'm gonna get an American Strat eventually.
|
The flanger (Boss) makes it sound really smooth. It's hard to explain in words, but it;s just awesome.
I'm pretty sure Comfortably Numb on Is There Anybody Out There? uses one. |
Ok thanks bud.

My amp has a bunch of effects in it (only can use one at a time though :upset: ) , and flanger is one Im gonna end up buying as a pedal, along with Phaser and Delay. But when i have flanger on, i make it incredibly noticable. |
It's only used on some versions of the song, but it sounds better though.

I saw Aussie Floyd last summer. They were pretty good for a cover band, I guess. It was mainly for your viewing pleasure. Some of the technicians who worked on Pink Floyd's shows work with Aussie Floyd, and it was amazing. My favorite part was when one of the members did the Careful With That Axe scream, and the place turned red and black flashing and alternating, and it looked like the whole stadium was going to blow up or something. They played some other good songs, like One Of These Days, Shine On (only the first half disapointingly), Great Gig In The Sky (amazing vocals), Money (great sax), Welcome To The Machine, Us And Them, Comfortably Numb (with a pretty impressive "improved" guitar solo), and a bunch of other stuff.
