in my opinion, st anger is just a fun screw around album. frantic, st anger, skom, these songs kick ass to jam with, even though the lyrics and riffs may not be top notch. there is obviously alot of anger and energy, which is what the band was trying to display. i think it's a great album just because it shows more of how diverse they can get, and i can really get into the lyrics and the riffs and go wild

Huber 11-04-2005 10:08 AM

I don't mind the "frantick tick tick" stuff. Still not very good though, it's easily the worst part lyrically. It probably sounded better when they thought of it.

Some of the other lyrics were pretty good though.

edit:

To the above:

I agree. It just sounded like they got together and jammed some heavy tunes. I like it.

Kyle 11-04-2005 10:26 AM
I think the problem with the lyrics is that all the member of the band just sat around and thought them up at random. I didn't mind the riffs so much, they were ok.
Yeah lyrics should come through inspiration, not just randomly thinking them up. I liked how they got the lyrics for 'sweet amber', but then they didn't do alot with them.

Jev 11-04-2005 10:30 AM

They all sat around and wrote for like 2 hours straight didn't they? That's not how it should be done.

Huber 11-04-2005 10:35 AM
They all sat around and wrote for like 2 hours straight didn't they? That's not how it should be done.
Where did you get that from?

If you can make music you enjoy in any way, what's wrong with that?

Jev 11-04-2005 10:54 AM

I don't know, I wasn't really thinking. I just think sitting down, forcing yourself to write lyrics isn't the greatest way of doing it.

Britton 11-04-2005 11:51 AM

You all are saying that they didn't think or be inspired by the lyrics?

James was just outta rehab and really sturuggling with anger and hate
and all the people calling him a sellout...

In my opinion (after watching SKOM) this is a wonderfull album Granted
it needs solo's

I can't wait for the next album...It's going to be more focused and thoughtout
and Rob is gonna have some crazy stuff on there

I want another bass solo and a instremental
you never know what they might do
they might bring out an album like master of puppets(which i hope for so bad)
I seriously doubt they will come out with another thrash album. In fact I don't even think they are capable of making thrash anymore. After all they have been through with bassist changes, therapy, there ages catching up with them etc. I don't feel they've got what they had 20 years ago when they were making thrash.

I have no doubt they could, but I agree that they won't.

Britton 11-04-2005 01:21 PM

Can but they won't

I'm hoping for retro thrash

Six Foot Revolver 11-04-2005 01:24 PM

I am anticipating hearing what Rob can do and what direction he is going to push the band.

Sadbutrue16 11-04-2005 01:36 PM

Somewhere earliear in this thread someone said something like Metallica didnt sell out..it was the fans. I agree wholeheartedly. People who dont like Metallica music becuase of Lars with napster are idiots. Lars by doing that didnt change there music at all. I agree you can hate them but doesnt mean you hate there music.

I always thought that way about Metallica and their fans. The change in musical styles are what KEPT me listening to them for the years that I did. There was a mood for every album, so no matter what I always wanted to listen to them.

I don't enjoy Metallica's music as much as I used too. I got pretty tired of them, but I loved how it went from Metal, to Hard Rock, then symphony it just didn't get old for a very long time.

Yep that was a Brittonish comment. I'm not sure that the fans sold
out but they difinatly jumped off the band wagon and abandoned the band.

So I guess that's a from of selling out

Sadbutrue16 11-04-2005 03:58 PM

but what i was getting at is people jumped off the band wagon becuase of there napster thing...a lot did anyway..

Britton 11-04-2005 05:50 PM

Um...I guess I don't understand what you mean. I think they sold out
when they said all that stuff about Tallica selling out...like they did with
S&M and St. Anger and especially the black album

timmySmi 11-04-2005 06:37 PM

Listen To The Lyrics All Within My Hands, That is such a Jason come home track! Its gonna be intresting how much creative backbone there gonna give Rob most of the stuff Jason played was written by Hetfield & Rock. I just hope they let Rob write his own ****.

Britton 11-04-2005 06:44 PM

Oh they will and I can't wait to hear it

Audiopond 11-04-2005 06:49 PM

I dont know what people have against St Anger it was a great album. I guess people just didnt like the fact they didnt stay the same, but how can you expect the same thing after 20 years?

Are you serious? He is in Metallica, how can he not "look" Metallica. And why does it matter at all? He's a fine bassist.
I hate there new bassist Robert Trujillo HE DOES NOT LOOK METALLICA
i agree that he is a good basist just dont like him (i dont no why)

Jev 11-05-2005 04:22 AM

Who cares what he looks like as long as he plays bass good?

ThrashMaster27 11-05-2005 04:36 AM

I suspect if Rob is given artistical (is that a word?) freedom, then we'll be looking at him making a great contribution. As for the others...

Wagga_Rocker 11-05-2005 06:24 AM

Hey just joined in id hav 2 say and justice 4 all is the best metallica album but black album has heaps of good ones i just likew the older metallica feel
Hey just joined in id hav 2 say and justice 4 all is the best metallica album but black album has heaps of good ones i just likew the older metallica feel
i can agree that AJFA is the best album IMO.
but i like all there albums
and all there eras:thumb:

Jev 11-05-2005 12:14 PM

Meh, never could get into AJFA, I'm a RTL fan.

Josh 11-05-2005 12:16 PM

i like AJFA, probably more than kill 'em all, but RTL is also great.

Huber 11-05-2005 12:18 PM

Who cares if he "looks Metalica" or not, how can you dislike Donkey Kong?

I've gotten much more into AJFA lately.

Britton 11-05-2005 01:03 PM
Hey just joined in id hav 2 say and justice 4 all is the best metallica album but black album has heaps of good ones i just likew the older metallica feel
Well that was clever...

Here's something 4 you 2 think about as a after thought...Nevemind

I really like AJFA I just listened to it yesterday. Blackened is awsome.

Jev 11-05-2005 01:27 PM

I like all the tracks I just find it hard to listen to.

DieterWeber 11-05-2005 01:30 PM

I like the raw sound that the solo's have on AJFA, its just seems....right

Britton 11-05-2005 01:31 PM

Hmm I wouldn't really call them raw...I would say KEA is raw. I think
AJFA is much better sructered and put together...if you don't count the
bass

FU.CKY.OU 11-05-2005 01:39 PM

I've been gettin' into AJFA alot more recently myself...it just sounds so..powerful compared to the other albums. I still likes my RTL better though.
