Meh.

I play most of Cliff's work with fingers, and most of Jason's with a pick. With a few exceptions. Blackened and MFOM both get the finger treatment :p

I just played Battery through to prove I could. Damage Inc. is harder.

:smash:

nowitzki 11-03-2005 06:08 PM

Do you pick with 2 or 3 fingers?

fatbandit 11-03-2005 06:11 PM

Both.

:smash:

fatbandit 11-03-2005 06:21 PM

Meh, just played Damage Inc through. Changed my mind. Battery is harder.

:smash:

nowitzki 11-03-2005 06:27 PM

Damage Inc. seems easy as long as you can keep up the speed. I need to improve my accuracy when picking fast with 3 fingers for songs like that.
I can play Battery and Maiden triplet-like riffs easily and accurately with 3 fingers, but not just fast 16th notes.

fatbandit 11-03-2005 06:30 PM

I just played through Damage Inc with 3 fingers, no problem (for straight rhythms, work on your RMIMRMIMRMI pattern).

I'm just going to quickly play through Damage Inc again with 2, see if I can do it.

I can do Battery with 2.

EDIT: Yups, 2 will do. I just don't see the point when 3 is easier :p

That's my thinking, it doesn't seem to bother Steve Harris though.

JACKROXYOU 11-03-2005 08:46 PM
Do you have any details on there new album. I've been curious to see what its like. I thought that st. anger was good but it was somewhat disapointing compared alot of there other albums. I was also suprised by the lack of solos, considering one of the things there known for are kirks crazy solos
ok for everyone!

no i dont know the exact details. if you ask me it will be released at earliest next spring. Rob will help the sound and i am very optimistic

Me too. I play Battery with 2 fingers though. I only use 3 for Maiden and Dream Theater.
I'm from Ontraio Canada, yourself?
I'm from Australia :D

Just wondering, you said I could ask you guitar questions, that's cool!
Most people in this thread like being asked guitar questions too, so you should feel right at home.
And yeah I gues my trouble with Ktulu is the fact I don't fingerpick.
I do it with a pick, I can do it pretty good too... Well good for me is probably sloppy for you, but meh :p
Chu it's good to have a teacher but with the internet you can reach out and teach you're self a good bit. Now that's not something you're always gonna wanna do but it's a start
The real problem is, I think I could be teaching myself some bad technique, where a teacher could otherwise sit with me and explain what I'm doing, how I can improve etc. You know?

So my guitar problems come again.
My picking has basically got from being horrible, to not so bad, to brutal again..
When I pick the pectrum slips out of my fingers (Eventually), and starts to slice my finger on the strings, I wouldn't usually care as I have nerve damage to my fingers and can't feel a lot, but when there's blood dripping on my guitar...

Britton 11-03-2005 11:17 PM

Well in that case I would start asking slapping P to help you with some
technique...from what I hear he's pretty good.

and if it bleeds you need to chill out man...I'm haveing a muslce problem
with my palms so I'm taking a break for a while...you might just brush up
on some theory and maybe try to tab a little. If you have sound clips
I would like to hear them...just to see if I can help any. and maybe
take a picture of what you're with the pick looks like so maybe we can
help you out.

I'm not the best but I'm willing to try and so are the other guitarist
in themighty Metallica Thread.

Night buddy

Chu 11-03-2005 11:21 PM

I'll get a clip, I would love to be able to play guitar PROPERLY, only recently have I been thinking how much I need a teacher, finding out I was picking wrong, and now this, it's enough to make me want to give guitar up (Although, I love it so much :p).

I would also love to be able to tab songs, although.. I really have no idea where to even start :(

Edit: Yeah Slapping Penguin is very good at guitar, I don't know if he's still in our band though, we're apparantly not 'metal enough' for him :(

Thrash em all 11-03-2005 11:32 PM

Britton 11-04-2005 12:52 AM

It's better for you're rep if you don't double post in here man.
Chu please don't give up guitar! it doesn't really matter how good you
are it's how much you enjoy and you seem to enjoy it plenty.

If he's not in the band anymore that's okay...you can still ask him for help
right?

Let me know if you need anyhting
The real problem is, I think I could be teaching myself some bad technique, where a teacher could otherwise sit with me and explain what I'm doing, how I can improve etc. You know?
I know exactly what you mean. I also taught myself how to play guitar and I'm sure there's probably something wrong with my technique. So it would be nice having a teacher guiding me and helping me improve. Although, I'm glad to say that a bloody fretboard is not one of my problems.

Jev 11-04-2005 01:51 AM

Yeah same here, I taught myself and my picking techniques not so great but my guitar teacher told me he had the same problem.

.:Thrasher:. 11-04-2005 03:52 AM

hey you no in frantic on st anger does he say in the pre chorus your living and lieing or your living a lyant?

'You live it or lie it' I think.

Heh heh Yeah, 'My Lifestyle determines my Deathstyle'.
What were they thinking?:)

.:Thrasher:. 11-04-2005 04:10 AM

or what about
wash your back so you wont stab mine, get in bed with your own kind

Jim 11-04-2005 04:29 AM

"Been here before - couldn't say I liked it,
Do I start writing all this down?"

The St. Anger lyrics are more literal than their previous albums. I appreciate that. :thumb:

Sph 11-04-2005 04:40 AM

I still prefer their old lyrics. And Guitar. And Logo.

Jim 11-04-2005 05:26 AM

Me too. All that epic, grandiose stuff of the earlier albums = serious pwnage. Then again, I like all Metallica.

.:Thrasher:. 11-04-2005 06:58 AM

metallica are a great band and i like how they try new stuff like st anger is nu metal, but i dont mind st anger it pretty good
and metallica are my most favorite band

Sph 11-04-2005 06:59 AM

It would be cool if they go back to thrash though. But they're not going to:upset:

.:Thrasher:. 11-04-2005 07:08 AM
It would be cool if they go back to thrash though. But they're not going to:upset:
you never know what they might do
they might bring out an album like master of puppets(which i hope for so bad)

nowitzki 11-04-2005 07:08 AM

The lyrics are probably the best thing about St Anger. That isn't really saying much however.

mr black 11-04-2005 07:13 AM

I thought the lyrics were terrible on St Anger, "tick tick tick tick tick tick tick tock".... no Hetfield... no. Some of the guitar riffs i thought we're really cool, (st anger in particular)

Sph 11-04-2005 07:18 AM

That 'tick tick tick tock' part gets more annoying everytime you hear it.

.:Thrasher:. 11-04-2005 07:30 AM

oh i dont really mind it
this is what i recon that st anger is a great album but just some of the lyrics are a bit fuked up

Steve DeBerg 11-04-2005 07:36 AM

I think the problem with the lyrics is that all the member of the band just sat around and thought them up at random. I didn't mind the riffs so much, they were ok.

.:Thrasher:. 11-04-2005 07:46 AM
I think the problem with the lyrics is that all the member of the band just sat around and thought them up at random. I didn't mind the riffs so much, they were ok.
i like the riffs there mad
and have you watched SKOM cause yes they do that to make up the lyrics

Sph 11-04-2005 08:15 AM

Frantic is kinda thrashy...but not really

:smoke:

.:Thrasher:. 11-04-2005 08:17 AM

i can sort of agree with that 50 50

Jev 11-04-2005 09:51 AM
