also, I was going through my music library and deleting the old punk-o-rama's I had but I kept the two hot water music songs that were on the ones i had. 'trusty chords' and 'wayfarer' are the songs and are both awesome, i looooove trusty chords especially. someone suggest an album to download, I guess Caution has both songs should I get that?
Definitely get Fuel For The Hate Game. One of my favorite albums ever.

I need to download Caution though, that album was pretty tight.

cbmartinez 10-26-2009 06:13 PM
sorry but we declined because we hate this band, we just can't take them seriously and they totally suck with their promo photos, booking agent, tourbus, major record company and all that crap we feel too much far from. Sorry to disappoint you but fortunately we don't need these kind of offers to tour the US
!!

all the best

Geoff Rickly replies on the Thursday fan site, Thursdizzle.net:

DIY is and has been alive in the US for a long time... I think a lot of the ethics of DIY are great(and I've been involved in that scene in many aspects for years[thanks lost in Paris]- as a promoter of house shows, putting out indie records, playing in bands that play DIY, community based shows and working to help establish a DIY network [allagesmovementproject]) and a lot of the people who espouse them are sincere. And a lot of the people that preach DIY just want to look cool and self-righteous. Great. Just what the world needs.

Thursday has been touring for ten years and played all over the world. We've had people help us, we've employed our friends, payed for their healthcare, made tons of music and art. It's been a full time job and we've loved it. If we had stayed diy and done it all, we would have done 1/2 the touring or less... How many chances have you had to see daitro???

I could also learn to make my own clothes and build my own house but I don't. Neither do most people. When you break it down we all choose what we want to make. Thursday chose music over business as a job.
lol

RetiredAt21 10-26-2009 08:23 PM

hahahah

honourosis 10-27-2009 12:16 AM

respect for daitro

witchxrapist 10-27-2009 12:51 AM

IDK, I can't respect a small band for turning down an awesome touring chance based off of another band's promo photos and how not-diy they are... I mean maybe if Thursday was something like Slipknot, but idk.

honourosis 10-27-2009 12:56 AM

i don't necessarily agree with daitro, they could of honestly handled it better, thursday wasn't the best band to call out on diy ethics etc. but how often do you come across a band with such strong ideals and actually stay true to them RESPECT

Matt? 10-27-2009 07:35 AM

they both are annoying

flesh 10-27-2009 09:44 AM

still totally agree with daitro.

Iluvatar 10-27-2009 10:21 AM

idk why you cant agree with both of them

whiteminority 10-27-2009 10:35 AM

i mean i do.

Iluvatar 10-27-2009 10:36 AM

well thats that.

RetiredAt21 10-27-2009 11:01 AM

I agree with both but Daitro were super lame about it.

whiteminority 10-27-2009 11:10 AM
well thats that.

still totally agree with daitro.
You don't agree with them so much as you just wanna be as "non-mainstream" as you possibly can.

IgniteYourAvail 10-27-2009 12:23 PM

I can't believe you are still talking about this.

Cob: Movie is going to destroy my face.

Doop 10-27-2009 12:32 PM
You don't agree with them so much as you just wanna be as "non-mainstream" as you possibly can.
and what exactly is wrong with that?

Matt? 10-27-2009 12:32 PM

theres nothing wrong with it unless you feel ashamed of your lack of free thinking.

whiteminority 10-27-2009 01:04 PM

just because you can understand positions of "mainstream" culture doesn't mean you are more free-thinking than someone who chooses to reject it. freedom of thought isn't something you can gauge like that.

i hate pop culture, i have nothing in common with it and i have no plans on following it nor have i. does this mean that i am not free-thinking and just subscribe to patterns of thought that are stereotypical for the sub-culture i choose to identify with? no, it just means i'm a ****ing weird person and i want nothing to do with a world that is so repulsive to me that i hate the ideas that seem to infect the mind's of people who don't see the things i do. call me close-minded, i don't give a ****. i think for myself and could care less what anyone thinks about it.

witchxrapist 10-27-2009 01:07 PM
and what exactly is wrong with that?
What isn't wrong with it?

Saying that you agree with somebody who has no point, just for the sake of not being associated with something, "mainstream," is completely retarded and pretentious, see; Martin.

cobert 10-27-2009 02:42 PM

I'm pretty sure not being 'mainstream' just for the sake of not being 'mainstream' is retarded.

I don't even know why we're debating this.

Matt? 10-27-2009 02:55 PM

it's ok if you want to take it out of context then you are right, it is not compromising any thought. i don't think you or martin or anyone actually is so tuned out, more-so that i think mappymassacre and doop in combination are playing dumb and dumber

but if you were to tell me you agreed with someone's point of view because it is not aligned with the mainstream, regardless of the claim itself, then you are letting a movement make your mind up for you. that's kind of stupid isn't it!

that is exactly what's wrong with it

doop are you religious?

whiteminority 10-27-2009 03:12 PM

i reject more than i accept. i think ideas through, but i don't feel the need to think about an idea if it's presented to me through a medium that is within a culture I feel I have no place in. i think about a lot of different ideas on a regular basis, but i will continue to identify and remain outside of the cultural norms dictated by mass society. i don't have a problem with anyone else's choice to do whatever, but i do have a problem with saying i choose not to think when i make a conscious decision to remain apart from something that i see no redeeming qualities in and one that has my whole life taught me that deviance from the accepted ideal that it puts forward is wrong. just be yourself and do, think, say whatever the **** you want, that's what living is supposed to be.

whiteminority 10-27-2009 03:13 PM

also, matt i have no ill-will towards you on this, it's just a rather touchy subject with me personally. i still think you are a solid dude.

cobert 10-30-2009 09:56 AM

my schedule for next semester:

Public Speaking
some dumb science class for gen ed credits, i don't even remember what it is
Introduction to Macroeconomics
Introduction to American Government
Western Heritage II
some dumb math class, don't remember the name of this one either

Easy semester.

RetiredAt21 10-30-2009 10:07 AM

What exactly does Western Heritage II entail?

cobert 10-30-2009 10:18 AM

Western civilization from 1600 onwards.

RetiredAt21 10-30-2009 10:36 AM

Cool.

flesh 10-30-2009 11:09 AM

How many units is that?

cobert 10-30-2009 11:28 AM

Western heritage only has 2 parts but it's pretty much an introductory history class, but I need to take both of those plus both intro American History classes for my major (history).

Next year I start taking cool 400 level history classes. I will do nothing but write papers.

flesh 10-30-2009 11:31 AM

haha that sucks. yeah community college is a breeze. and aside from that i get $1,500 in grant money.

boundbytransience 10-30-2009 11:38 AM

Cob, those are some weird classes for a sociology major.
