BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 04-17-2005 11:04 AM

Then you would be 80% correct.

Badmoon 04-17-2005 11:08 AM
I am not Christian and I couldn't give 2 hairs about it. My family is ALL Christian (Cathlic to be specific) and I have to go to church to listin to some guy babiling on about how Jesus apparently rose from the grave on that day. Does it mean anything to me? No. Can I compare the two? Yes, it's a matter of my opinion and no one else. Not even you Tom Brooks.
Thank you for disreguarding half of what I said. The significance of the two are incomparable. By saying 4/20 (Do you even know what that date is about, honestly?) they because you don't give a **** is ignorance and out to piss 2 billion people of in the world.
Cathlic
Catholic*
Yes, it's a matter of my opinion and no one else. Not even you Tom Brooks.
Yes, it is your opinion (I don't know your name, nor do I feel it adds emphasis if I add it). But what I am doing is presenting my opinion, by stating how over exaggerated and possibly ignorant yours is.

I am not Jewish, but I am from the Illinois. Now, when Lincoln's day roles around here, though I appreciate and rather love what I do on the day (We have it off school), and will not be foolish enough to compare the importance to a day like Hanekuah. Though, I do not celebrate the day by any means I am not that ignorant to the meaning and importance of the holiday to actually claim it is where near as important. That would be an insult to all Jewish people around the world.
The Drive-By Truckers suck. I had thier album a while ago listined to it and all it is is a LS ripoff so I sold it.
They sound loosely like Lynryd Skynryd. The have much less emphasis on Blues and much more emphasis on Hard Rock and usually Country.

Badmoon 04-17-2005 11:10 AM
Isn't the signifance of 4/20 that that was the time kids all got home from school and lit up?
Apparentley that is pretty much correct. Some kids from California or whatever had stated that. Kind of silly.

RockAndRoll 04-17-2005 11:11 AM
Then you would be 80% correct.
? what's the other 20%?
It still seems like nobody really knows
Well, if you read the article you would know.
'420' began its sub-rosa linguistic career in 1971 as a bit of slang casually used by a group of high school kids at San Rafael High School in California. '420' (always pronounced "four-twenty," never "four hundred and twenty") came to be an accepted part of the argot within that group of about a dozen pot smokers, beginning as a reminder of the time they planned to meet to light up, 4:20 p.m
That is the only legit explination, but it's amazing that a phrase thrown around in some random high school 35 years ago is now a universally recognized term for something/everything having to do with weed

Badmoon 04-17-2005 11:41 AM
Hanukkah*
The point of that was, that it is silly that he is Catholic and cannot spell the word. I am not Jewish, I sould be able to spell the word, but can't. I really doesn't go against that much. But I do like how that is the only part of my rant that you are fighting. ;)

Ambidextrous 04-17-2005 11:42 AM

Is it just me, or is this board supposed to be dedicated to the likes of Queen and Zeppelin... not people arguing about religion?
Is it just me, or is this board supposed to be dedicated to the likes of Queen and Zeppelin... not people arguing about religion?
You came in at a bad time.

To Badmoon: because it's not my argument, your points are valid. I was just mocking because you made special notice of an innocent typo he made, where as you went on to completely butcher a word that your saying is of world significance.

MalcolmYoungRock 04-17-2005 11:44 AM

Sometimes we get in the subject of drugs also.

Ambidextrous 04-17-2005 11:45 AM

Yeah, but still. Isn't everyone here united by a like of classic rock (or else they shouldn't be on this thread) and so fighting can go elsewhere?

ATM 04-17-2005 11:45 AM

I agree, take your fighting to MSN or AIM and let's talk about music.

MalcolmYoungRock 04-17-2005 11:50 AM

Somethings wrong with my computer, I'm playing my music and it's an octave lower and slower.

It sounds WEIRD.

Walrus Gumboot 04-17-2005 11:50 AM

My little sister had a gig last night where she played bass for two bands (8th grade, naturally)
And then her bass broke and her voice started cracking and the piano player screwed up, so she had to laugh at her and elbow her (Which made poor Julia cry after the show), and that was only the first band. The second one was a 8th grade metalhead nightmare which involved a fat redhead kid screaming into the mic with way too much distortion and ended when the lead guitarist broke a string
After that my science teacher from middle school had a band and played a number of Zeppelin covers.

It was pretty d*mn funny

Badmoon 04-17-2005 11:51 AM
Yeah, but still. Isn't everyone here united by a like of classic rock (or else they shouldn't be on this thread) and so fighting can go elsewhere?
We have been asked if we want to change the title to Community thread or Jam Rock thread. Would you like that? Then you will get no time for Classic Rock. Now, please talk about Led Zeppelin all you want, and we will knod our heads to your comments :)

lunch998 04-17-2005 11:51 AM

That sounds horrible, I'm glad I didn't see that.

Badmoon: Shutup.

No
anyone like rory gallagher? hes an irish blues/rock guitarist. hes awesome.
He's pretty good. I have not heard that much, but I have heard a bunch of his songs covered and a few that he did.

Wrong.
Thank you for disreguarding half of what I said. The significance of the two are incomparable. By saying 4/20 (Do you even know what that date is about, honestly?) they because you don't give a **** is ignorance and out to piss 2 billion people of in the world.
Are you saying World-wide it has a bigger significance? Well no **** but 4/20 is way more significant to me (and that's what matters!). So what if it's Hitler's birthday.
Yes, it is your opinion (I don't know your name, nor do I feel it adds emphasis if I add it). Yes, Hanukkah is more important than your birthday but I know your birthday is WAY more important to YOU than Hanukkah.
The point of that was, that it is silly that he is Catholic and cannot spell the word
I am not fucking Catholic!

lunch998 04-17-2005 11:59 AM

Well it is Hitler's birthday, therefore anyone who likes 4/20 is a Nazi. It's also impossible to have your own valid opinion because I'm Catholic, and we're always right about everything.

Just fucking with you. :p

Badmoon 04-17-2005 12:02 PM
Are you saying World-wide it has a bigger significane? Well no **** but 4/20 is way more significant to me (and that's what matters!). So what if it's Hitler's birthday.
I'm not saying it shouldn't have a greater significance to you, but to compare to the the overall meaning and importance of a holiday that fortells everything about a followers life, and where they will go after they die is a pure insult. I would hope that you are not self centered enough to not put 4/20 on the level of Easter, even if you don't celerebrate it. That's like my birthday compared to Judgement day.
Yes, Hanukkah is more important than your birthday but I know your birthday is WAY more important to YOU than Hanukkah.
I have much more fun on my birthday, and it is more important to me, but I will not go and say that is a worthy opponent in comparison to Hanukkah.
You ALWAYS think everyone else's opinion is "ignorant", "wrong" and "exaggerated". As for my name just add Spencer in front of my username and there it is.
You hardly knew what 4/20 was about - ignorance. It's importance (Though my opinion) is exaggerated. Its a day where one smokes pot...
I am not ****ing Catholic!
I'm sorry, I didn't mean it come out that way. But you were raised as I Catholic, which would allow me to make the assumption that you should be able to spell the word.

ATM 04-17-2005 12:04 PM

Triple post

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 04-17-2005 12:05 PM

I never said it's absoultly the most important holiday of the year. For me I find it the most enjoyable.

*the fighting is over*

magicbus 04-17-2005 12:10 PM

HAY GUYS wats goin on.

Badmoon 04-17-2005 12:10 PM
I never said it's absoultly the most important holiday of the year. For me I find it the most enjoyable.
This whole second part of the conversation is that you have insulted my religion and I by comparing a day to get stoned to the rising of the Messiah. It's your opinion, but it completely offends and pisses me off.

If you want to end it here or whatever, I'll be glad to.

EDIT: Okay, done.

Ambidextrous 04-17-2005 12:11 PM

If we're going to dig into here... Hanukkah isn't pronounced like that, and so it should be spelt Chanukkah.
(I think this demonstrates how flimsy this argument is and why we should get back to discussing Queen...)
If we're going to dig into here... Hanukkah isn't pronounced like that, and so it should be spelt Chanukkah.

Actually both ways are correct.

So, how 'bout that Queen...

Badmoon 04-17-2005 12:13 PM

Brian May was arguably the first to use finger tapping.

magicbus 04-17-2005 12:13 PM

I really like Brian May's tone.

Ambidextrous 04-17-2005 12:13 PM

Do you think if Mr Freddie hadn't died, We Will Rock You would have come true, and the only music allowed would be Queen :)

A few people claim to be the first.

BludgeonySteve 04-17-2005 12:23 PM

to catch up

*hendrix is much better live than in studio

*chanukah can be spelled many ways

*EVH was not the first finger tapper. He just popularized it.

*a day for getting stoned is a pointless idea.

yeah
