i haven't been on in a while, just wondering if there has been a song selected yet, last i heard it was seek and destroy, but it seems like there is still a little decideing going on, so if you can let me know, and this voting thing sounds like a good idea, One has my vote
|
Well now that the new cover band thread is up someone needs to officially tell me who is doing what in that thread.
|
ok so we're doing Seek and Destroy. i can go downstairs and record it on audacity if you guys want. i'd just need settings. i have a boss Metal Zone pedal and a Line 6 Spider 212
edit: well i can do most, i just need to learn the chords behind the solo (not the part that's the chorus) |
ok so it's been 4 hrs since i've posted here and i was the last post. come on guys, what's the deal? how's the song coming?
|
I'll do rhythm if Creeping Death gets the vote
|
Right... I can do Seek and Destroy on bass, no problem. Only problem is, when I record, it always records it as slightly distorted. I know this isn't a problem for you distortion laden guitarists, but how can I solve it? I've tried running at the lowest volume I can, and I'm running through the Line Out on my amp, so the quality shouln't be suffering.
Anyway, I'm happy to do Seek and Destroy, but in the 'Deth thread, they're planning Take No Prisoners, and if they pull that off, they will pwn us *so* badly. I still think we may need something more complex... My vote...? Maybe Battery or One? I'll check back in her soonish. I have a little time before I go to my exam. EDIT: Hmm. I just saw the rules thread. Seems some other threads are doing setlists (Maiden, Rage, ToT, maybe more...) If you guys want to put together 5 or so songs, go for it. If not, I still think we should change the song from Seek and Destroy? My 5 suggestions would probably be... Battery Call of Ktulu Sanitarium No Leaf Clover (OMG, seckz...) Seek and Destroy? I can record any of them when I find a solution to recording well. I would have to learn about half of Ktulu, Sanitarium and No Leaf Clover from that list. I'm sure, however, that we'll have disagreement over songs, so... Discuss. |
my five would be:
1. one(hehe) 2. harvester of sorrow 3. leper messiah 4. welcome home(sanitarium) 5. Fade to black |
Hmm. Shocking recording. Loads of wrong things, inconsistent volume etc. I need to get the hang of recording. Anyway. Here's something for you. Comment on tone and quality of recording (ie, is it good enough for you guys).
http://s4.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=33T2XX4CTAKOQ2QDRJYW5MMEV3 I've come to the conclusion that Seek and Destroy on the album is too slow :( :smash: |
FlyingPaul_83-- my five would be:
1. one(hehe) - could do rhythm and/or lead 2. harvester of sorrow -need to learn 3. leper messiah - need to learn 4. welcome home(sanitarium) -could do rhythm and/or lead 5. Fade to black -could do rhythm and/or lead ok i suggest nothing off of AJFA, the stuff is way too long and too many places to mess up (unless we did one). i'd rather not do fade to black because it would ruin it for me and probably other fans if we messed it up. sanitarium i've already recorded and can play the whole thing i just recorded most of the S&D rhythm |
Gocaps, have a listen to my rough recording, see how it goes. Might be an idea to see how well it lines up with yours, too.
|
it's a good recording, mine was just for the heck of it. i haven't listened to the song in a while. is yours timed with the album version?
|
its good
|
any news about a new metallica album?
|
Look out for LarsAgi's review of The World Needs a Hero, I asked him to post it here, I think it's a good album and it will cure alot of the Anti-Mustaine **** that's floating around this topic(?).
I don't think anyone here really is anti-Mutsaine (I love him), only metalli-noobs who come in here thinking he's a nasty guy without hearing any 'Deth songs. |
Metallica / Megadeth = best bands in the world.
|
Metallica / Megadeth = best bands in the world.
I agree with this statement. But yeah, alot of the people in this thread were/are anti-Megadeth, I guess most of them actually gave Megadeth a listen though, which is a very good thing in my opinion. Everyone should be listenning to Megadeth. |
*Looks at my user title.*
I agree with RustedPieces. |
If you were doing a 5 song set:
Puppets Clover One Battery Orion :x |
If you were doing a 5 song set:
Puppets Clover One Battery Orion :x
it would be good, but there's too much puppets |

You guys serious? :amaze:
I thought it was pretty sloppy. Might go again another time. I need to add a second distortion/wah track though, for the fills. I decided against doing it at the same time as the main track. Gocaps: Yeh, mine's timed with the studio version (which is what made me realise I hate the tempo). Santana: Thanks! I use fingers normally, but I recorded that with a pick. It seemed more consistent for some reason. Its not my normal EQ, which is why I asked about it. It had to have a lot of bass scooped out of it, and my EQ is pretty much flat across the board on that recording. I can do more recordings soon though. Maybe one or two a day, if people know what songs they want me to do. Do we want to go for... One off of KEA (Seek and Destory), one off of RTL, one off of MoP, one off of AJFA, and one off Black Album/S&M? |
I just listenned to your recording of Seek & Destroy, pwnage :)
|
Do For Whom The Bell Tolls guys, it's fairly easy for guitar (And drums!), easy to pull off ;)
It would work really well in my opinion. Edit: In my opinion, fatbandit could *easily* pull it off on bass too. :P |

If other bands do songs that are really hard and pull it off, For Whom The Bell Tolls might not do you guys any good. |
But there's a difference between pulling it off, and pulling it off well.
I really think it's possible to do For Whom The Bell Tolls really well. Edit: What about Fight Fire With Fire? |
Hmm... Possibly. Would require more planning on my part to organise my effects, but its easily possible. I dunno. I'd look at the options on RTL first. If its possible, I'd be happy doing Call of Ktulu, for a start :p Or Creeping Death? I think those three are the competitors? Am I right?
I'm off for the night anyway, I'll catch up on the choices later guys. :smash: |

why not ride the lightning?
|
why not ride the lightning?
I don't believe anyone here could play that. Maybe parts of it, but as an entire song I don't think so. *I could be wrong. |
I heard you guys were having some problems with the covers... whats wrong?
