Zombies Ate My Neighbours 09-19-2006 10:52 AM

Decent enough; I could tell the song at least :)

Get the harmony in there and it'd pwn.

Ghosts Revenge 09-19-2006 10:53 AM

what do you mean by harmony?

Zombies Ate My Neighbours 09-19-2006 10:54 AM

The other harmonising guitar.

unknownsoldier12 09-19-2006 10:55 AM

damn, i can't get that to work either :/

/tries something else

ah, yeah... well, this guy should have done it...

MRDuCran 09-19-2006 11:22 AM

Ok Ghosts Revenge and Zombies Ate my Neightbours, who the hell are you?

It seems to me like you've both been here before and these are other accounts...

And why are you posting repcaks recording?

Zombies Ate My Neighbours 09-19-2006 11:29 AM

Why are you demanding to know me, what does it matter ?

TheShaneOMac 09-19-2006 11:29 AM

I like COB, they are really catchy. Good melodies and harmonies for sure. Lyrics blow dicks though but I guess that doesn't matter for their style of music.

repcak 09-19-2006 11:52 AM

what the hell is going on here?

repcak 09-19-2006 01:31 PM

hm... my wrist starts hurting recently when practising "wolf and raven" by sonata arctica... would like to know why...

Shadows Within 09-19-2006 01:31 PM

bout to ask the same question...

are you guys doing Vivaldi thing? cause your gonna need a guitar synth for that to work...

Jani is a beast on that song.

repcak 09-19-2006 01:34 PM

vivaldi... jani... keyboards? are you talkin about a different version as the one from young-guitar?

Ghosts Revenge 09-19-2006 01:36 PM

That track is in the wings for me atm. Im having fun with towards dead end atm.

I wouldnt care about not having a synth. It can sound metalish, thats fine with me

repcak 09-19-2006 01:44 PM

@kurrpt: i know i asked you this once, but i once again forgot. how do you mute the string while doing descending legato?
do you mute the upper string with your index, so that you don't use your index-fingertip but your äh... how to say that.. hm... you use your whole finger instead of the fingertip so you still mute the upper string with the end of your finger...

hope, you understand what i try to say...

Shadows Within 09-19-2006 01:50 PM
vivaldi... jani... keyboards? are you talkin about a different version as the one from young-guitar?
No I was refering to the yung guitar, I was talking to you about Jani, I was saying hes a beast in "Wolf & Raven".

where the hell did you get keyboards from?

unknownsoldier12 09-19-2006 01:51 PM

what i do is use my palm (picking hand) to mute strings E A and D (gererally speaking terms here)

I'll use my index to mute G, B, and E

sure, if im doing legato, lets say on the A or D string, i will use my index of my fret hand to mute the E string as well.

I try to get into the habbit of muting every string im not playing at all times, considering i like to play with a considerable amount of gain

ah ... jani from sonata, ok :)

keyboards? i have a keyboard at home, but never used it... or do you mean something else.

ah, ok thanks.

i try to learn now the warm up by alexi and roope from the young guitar video with both techniques... normal + legato.

i now tried some descending legato and i can mute them better as some weeks ago, without using my picking hand... so only the fretting hand... thats soo fukking great :D

right before i move to the next string i release my finger, but for a short moment i touch the string to stop it from "ringing"... like muting while doing sweeps.

btw. i can play 4-strings-arpeggios at the speed of 80bpm, 16th notes :)

unknownsoldier12 09-19-2006 02:12 PM

thats not bad at all. As long as you DONT rush it and take your time, you should be constantly moving that up.

Ive some what hung up on 140 bpm, 16ths. Thats not to say i havent done sweeps faster, but i dont feel the "control" im looking for is there 100% of the time. To me, if its not 100% proficient, im seriously wasting my time

repcak 09-19-2006 02:19 PM

there is only one shape i can do at 80bpm, 16th notes :p and double-triplets at 80bpm (if i do 3-string sweeps) ... double-triplets = sixlets? (6notes each beat)

unknownsoldier12 09-19-2006 02:22 PM

double triplets would be 6 beats a click, where as 16ths is 4 beats a click

ive started working on really weird shapes at the moment. I'm sick of doing the same exercise over and over just to increase the metronome. I figure the more shapes I become proficient at, the better I would be at sweeping in general

Forlorn Hope 09-19-2006 02:27 PM

What exactly did Alexi and Roope use to get the violin type sound from the guitar in Passage To The Reaper?

Also if anyone can recommend good wireless systems for around $200 that would be great :D

repcak 09-19-2006 02:28 PM

^^
have you seen the shapes of jani's demonstration in the young guitar video? the arpeggios he is doing are the most beautifullest arpeggios i've ever heard (melody-wise) (imo)

edit:

i don't know but i would guess: less gain, mids in the midle/low, more treble, bass midle... or something like that....

unknownsoldier12 09-19-2006 02:30 PM

synth apparently...

link me to some tab Repcak. Ill definitely check em out.

Rusty Cooley also had some good shapes I've been working on as well

The Get out of my Yard sweeps are interesting to say the very very least.

Unholy would be another.
