It wears off after a bit

Brew 04-17-2005 09:38 AM

My postcount went from 2,500 to about 6000 in 3months or so.

PaulRawNerve 04-17-2005 09:45 AM

i think i will be sticking around though to be honest, along with my own forum (which in 2 usernames i've got around 22,000 posts) and ultimate metal forums (although that's sometimes too big with its 250 forums), this looks like the neatest and is pretty friendly as well too..

plus there is the opportunity to ramble, talk about music AND learn stuff in the bassists forums, so all good..

ChodaBoy 04-17-2005 09:49 AM

Its an nice place, until you visit the pit. Which is the online version of hell

Brew 04-17-2005 09:49 AM

The Pit used to be good fun, its not too bad these days.

Just make sure to read the rules for each forum and you'll be fine.

IAJP 04-17-2005 09:59 AM

Paul looks like a cool guy.
Word of warning, don't go into the pit and post some stupid thread, it's a really bad idea.
Other than that, it's cool.

ChodaBoy 04-17-2005 10:03 AM

You can always tell a noobs thread in the pit. Its usually "Best live band"

PaulRawNerve 04-17-2005 10:07 AM

yeah, am used to that kinda thing, i have frequented the kerrang and metal hammer forums in my time too.. kerrang is better than a lot of people would probably give it credit for to be honest, quite diverse, but there isn't enough people using it these days, was great for the separate genre sections.

i have been taking time generally with each forum, trying to suss out the rules and stuff, seems there is different atmospheres in all the sections, which is quite weird, but cool as well. that's why i posted how i did in here, just thought it was an anything goes type thread..

i think more of the new threads i will start will be actually discussions about music and theory/playing/etc.. rather than 'what's the weather like where you are?' or 'my mum makes food' or some other such nonsense! heh..

although, (sorry about the ramble here), we do have stuff like that going on on our own forum but it's fun on there, some forums are too uptight to have stuff like that happening.

duffroxmysox 04-17-2005 10:07 AM

We have another bassist in the thread.......woah thats rather a few now:p

PaulRawNerve 04-17-2005 10:08 AM

absolutely mate
:thumb:
that's how i came to find these forums as i was looking up about 8 string unpaired basses (advertised in classifieds), couldn't believe how big the forum was.. ours is pretty big at 1800 members, but this is ridiculous!! heh

ChodaBoy 04-17-2005 10:10 AM

The only problem i can think of with MX, is the swearing blocker. Everyone knows how to get around it, and even the kids swear, so i dont think its necessary.

IAJP 04-17-2005 10:13 AM

Fuck yes.

PaulRawNerve 04-17-2005 10:19 AM

don't know what the f u c k you mean!! i've can't say i've fucking noticed that at all!!

does seem a bit odd, and lazy as well, since the word d a m n is a default swear filter word, it was on our forum when we started which was quite confusing!!

Brew 04-17-2005 10:20 AM

Not everyone can beat the swear filter.
One of you lives near or in Manchester, we're getting a gig set up there courtesy of War Face, know any decent screamo bands we could invite to play with us?
If you ever play as gig in the East Midlands, there are loads of Sceamo bands I could hook you up with. One im close friends with (cough 'Moonlight and Valentino at purevolume' cough).

And jess, why do you always sound sound negative when describing any music i send you? (and the recorded Third eye one has Bill Hicks at the beginning instead.)

Brew 04-18-2005 10:02 AM

Brum is the West Midlands.

Derby is the East Midlands.

Choda - Your avatar is scarey yet highly amusing.

Amount of screamo in my music collection is very minimal.

Now metal genres on the other hand, those and post rock are in a constant battle for supremacy

ChodaBoy 04-18-2005 12:44 PM

Brum, did you know that Roddy Piper was on MTV before, and he is on Paul O'Grady show on Friday...should be interesting

That, dear e-bro, would be due to the fact that its not reaaaally my kind of stuff but I'm actually trying to be possitive, belive it or not :p

And I thought I was being positive about 2 of the tracks especially, though only semi-positive, cos as I said, not completely my cup of tea

King_Karl 04-18-2005 01:56 PM
