thickasabrick 08-29-2005 01:02 PM
Do you have any?

If not, I recommend American Beauty and Workingman's Dead (country), Aoxomoxoa and Live/Dead (psychedelic), and Europe '72 or Skull and Roses for a great live album.
I definitely second these recommendations. Everyone has their personal favourites, but these albums are not only the Grateful Deads finest...Live/Dead and Europe '72 are probably some of the best live albums you'll ever hear. Live Grateful Dead is where it's at...although I've yet to hear anything I didn't like.

magicbus 08-29-2005 01:06 PM

My two favorites are Workingman's Dead and Anthem of the Sun. I don't know much else actually, but I do know that I don't like American Beauty.

Lunch 08-29-2005 01:08 PM

The Closing of Winterland is one of my favorite live Grateful Dead albums, though it wasn't released as an album in their time like Europe '72, Live/Dead, etc.

i am the robots 08-29-2005 01:15 PM

Is true, however think of yourself as being lucky that it's been released in a time where you can get your hands on it...

Don't like American Beauty? Oh well...to each his own.

My favourite is Live/Dead, although it should be longer...at least another two disks worth of songs would be good.

Illmatic 08-29-2005 01:38 PM

/me doesn't like the Grateful Dead

Well, thanks to lepermessiah's post in the CR thread last night I've been in a Sly and the Family Stone kind of mood.

Done.

Haha, Tim Lambesis from As I Lay Dying, is involved with PETA. What a loser. I still love the band though.

superpeer 08-29-2005 03:43 PM

Audioscrobbler won't update their top fans for Therapy?, I bet I'd be in it.

the2stranger 08-29-2005 03:55 PM

Audioscrobbler is acting weird anyways, or it's just me :p

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-29-2005 03:57 PM

Bah. First day of school was the blandest thing since..Well, maybe working during the summer. :-/

I already have AP Chemisty homework, which is lame.

Arrakakaka 08-29-2005 03:58 PM

I'm bored. Bass lessons at 7:00, and it's almost 6:00 here in Michigan. Last day of summer

I hope my teacher burned that Victor Wooten video..

Oh yeah, The life of Brian is brilliant as well.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-29-2005 04:06 PM

Where are you in relation to Jom and Bus, Iron Man?

American Beauty was the first album of there's I bought. You can thank Friend of the Devil for this. IMO, that album is near perfect.
Where are you in relation to Jom and Bus, Iron Man?
I think they told me once, but I can't remember. I just know we're all Michiganders. Gotta love the humid, 100 degree weather in the summer and the 0 degree weather (possibly even lower?) and the lake-effect blizzards in the winter, eh?

Riva 08-29-2005 04:20 PM
Oh yeah, The life of Brian is brilliant as well.
My movie list:

Holy Grail > Life Of Brian > Now For Something Completely Different > Monty Python's Flying Circus series > Meaning Of Life

Roger.

I'm in Troy, which is like 20 minutes north of Detroit, but in January I'm moving to MSU. After spending my weekend up there, I can't wait. It was the coolest thing ever.

And I love the Holy Grail.

i am the robots 08-29-2005 04:40 PM

Holy Grail and Life Of Brian = my favorite movies, I can basically quote both from start to finish :D.

Rothmans 08-29-2005 04:52 PM

I hate Monthy Python I thought his movies were well a bit stupid and immature:/

superpeer 08-29-2005 04:52 PM

*their

TheDMV 08-29-2005 04:54 PM

I've only seen Holy GRail, probably due to both rarity of some of the others, and the ratings.

magicbus 08-29-2005 04:54 PM
*their
omg m0dsp4m laolz

But yea, Monty Python is the name of their group, it's not a single person.

TheDMV 08-29-2005 05:00 PM
Jelle: can you do me a favor and delete the post that doesn't belong in the MNM thread?

I can't finish it with some retard saying "Uh, can I post now?" even though I said in the first fucking sentence not to post until I said so. It'll mess up the order of how I have things.

But nooooooooooo.
It's not there anymore.
I hate Monthy Python I thought his movies were well a bit stupid and immature:/
"stupid and immature"

shame on you sir, the humor of Monty Python's movies is quite mature, and quite witty, the kids in my English class who didn't get Holy Grail were the ignorant Football Players who were barely passing the class and hated everything that wasn't out of their mouths.

Illmatic 08-29-2005 05:21 PM

Monty Python has its moments, but it's a little too absurd and British for me.

Jom 08-29-2005 05:23 PM

I don't get it...how is it a gimmick but not a joke?

i am the robots 08-29-2005 05:29 PM

Wait, Jom, are you in charge of Monday Night Mayhem now?

Jom 08-29-2005 05:35 PM
Wait, Jom, are you in charge of Monday Night Mayhem now?
The poll is to vote whether or not MNM will continue to exist. You need to read Jason's interview answers carefully to see why MNM's status is up in the air.

Is it alright to be slightly upset about missing out on recognition in Ken's thread?

or am I just being an arsehole?
Is it alright to be slightly upset about missing out on recognition in Ken's thread?

No, I don't think so. To be honest, I was originally pissed when Ken handed people stars/rep after I was the first R&M reg to "earn" them the hard way, followed shortly thereafter by Riva. But it wasn't a worst-case scenario, I decided... well, not until it spirals out of control with petty grudges and all that. I'm not even particularly thrilled at some of the people who've been rewarded, but again, chances are they deserve it since I don't post everywhere in R&M. To be truthful, I think most of the people with stars have earned them. But I can't judge. Was I a bit peeved at the new "awards ceremonies?" A bit, but not anymore, really.

On that note, I've repped you a couple times for your help in the death heads and YSI thread. I know 100+ points a pop isn't much, but keep up the good work, and you'll get recognized eventually.

Lord Abortion 08-29-2005 05:50 PM

the point is...if ever it came a point when I got recognised and was awarded stars... I wouldn't care who else got them... at the moment though I am getting a "why did that little wanker get them and I didn't?" sort of feeling
Is it alright to be slightly upset about missing out on recognition in Ken's thread?

I'm not upset about it...actually, it's more inspiration to help me post better.
