Symbolic acts...
So Vivid... /// Empty...WOOOOOOOOOOOOOORDDDS Yeah. /leaves |
i will record death tomorrow. the movie was beautiful and now i listen to my dying bride so i'm not in the mood of playing guitar now...
|
Death suck, gtfo.
|
Yeah ^
Favorite ones are on Symbolic. I'm sorry, I havn't been in this thread for ages, and when I finally do,it's not about CoB.
Really? Those are my least favourite.. he sounded way better in the early days to me. On Symbolic it sounds like he's pinching one or something. |
yeah, lets stop the death discussion... this is a BODOM thread :p
/ i said my two cents about death (some great songs i love, but not more than 10songs maybe - the other ones can be forget) |
Okay, guys I'm really sorry. Move you're answer to the Death thread Toaster :p...if you have any.
I'll bump the Death thread...and repost there. |
btw. who is this in your avatar? hansi hinterseer an austrian singer
|
Nah, Hansi Kursh from Blind Guardian. I decided to put the 'this is Hansi" as my usertitle, because some people thought it was Corey Talor...and this other guy which I don't remember.
|
^^
i meant his one: http://www.tourismuspresse.at/sixcms/media.php/2499/hansi_hinterseer.jpg he's an austrian folk singer... horrible... just HORRIBLE  |
Speaking of that Jani dude from Sonata Arctica, I downloaded his Young Guitar video. I wasn't interested in any of the licks but he's a good player, good legato skills.
|
i thought you already have seen this video? legato and his sweepings are amazing. he plays so fluently without mistakes... only watching the video makes me
|
His bending and vibrato technique are awful.
|
Yeah, pretty much.
i thought you already have seen this video? legato and his sweepings are amazing. he plays so fluently without mistakes... only watching the video makes me
I'd seen the demonstration at the beginning before but never the full thing. One of Roope's old guitars... |

Yeah one pickup. I've realised I never use the neck pickup either and it's not because of Bodom, I never have been a neck pickup whore when soloing, I like the sharp attack sound of bridge. I might get one of those V's just as a stage guitar, metal on a pink Ibanez isn't metal. (unless I was in Racer X or Cacophony but sadly, my fingers tell me that that would only happen in my dreams).
I just realised it only has 22 frets too.
Sexy guitar...as well as the ones in the Passage To The Reaper vid :naughty:
Indeed, not forgetting the green pinstriped one in Reap N Roll Licks. *drools* |
Roope is playing 10yrs longer than alexi so he IS better than alexi... both are my guitar heros.
and i too only use the bridge... at my old ibanez when i had two single-coils i sometimes used it, but when you have two humbuckers the difference is not that big, so i stay at my bridge-pickup. to my record: yesterday my recording software or hardware or windows, whatever crashed... maybe its the soundcard, maybe not... i couldn't record. meanwhile i can, but i still have problems, so i still haven't recorded it. yesterday i played it at 180 (cause when you can play something fast, its easier when you record it slower) - so that was the plan... but when i tried to record it at 170 it sounded horrible, too sloppy. whatever, i have to start at 160 again. and today i was the whole day outside... make a practical experience at the clean clothes campagne in austria, and if you're interested, on one of our radio stations website there is a little article about it - its quite interesting: http://fm4.orf.at/chris/215014/main |
i prefer the bridge pup personally, but theres NOTHING like switching the neck for taps + sweeps
sweeps especially. I really can't stand the bridge pup for sweeps most of the time |
Playing longer =/= better. |
but in this case its true... roope is so much bettern than alexi.
|
@mitch: you mentioned several times that you have small hands and therefor its impossible to play things like cacophony.
hm... can you stretch/play this one (a legato-melody i wrote yesterday) e b g--4h7h4h8 repeat 4x | 4h5h4h5 repeat 4x and try to play it as fast as possible... |
dude mrducran what if a mod deleted this thread, then you would have like 1k posts lol.
|
but in this case its true... roope is so much bettern than alexi.
I would agree but I haven't actually heard Roope play anything more impressive than Alexi tbh. I've seen Passage to the Reaper, I have 3 Stone albums, 3 Sinergy albums and 3 live Sinergy videos. Although, I DO really love his solo in Passage to the Fourth World. "etc, I meant I can't play stuff like Racer X/Cacophony. I can play your legato lick easily. Actually, I can play the main theme in Concerto by Cacophony. :smoke: Try playing the intro to Colorado Bulldog by Mr. Big if you want a challange (speed, stretching, string skipping)
dude mrducran what if a mod deleted this thread, then you would have like 1k posts lol.
 So true. :p On a Children of Bodom related note, I figured out the CORRECT way to play the sweeping interlude in Silent Night, Bodom Night so I've been working on that and I can play it near perfect, except the picking bits at the end of each phrase. |
Hey I have a question. I wanted to get into this band a bit more and I was wondering what would be a good cd of theirs to get as my first Bodom cd?
I've heard stuff off of Are you dead yet, was moderately impressed, but a friend says their older stuff is much better. Any suggestions? |
well, then you should check out exactly what solo parts are played by alexi and which ones by roope... passage to the fourth world is not the only one. i don't know why, but on Sinergy (Suicide by my side) and AYDY i know exactly if the solos is being played by roope or alexi and roope's playing is much better. he sounds better...
Follow the Reaper and/or Hatebreeder for sure. :thumb:
Yeah man, thanks. I'm thinking Follow the Reaper. Hey, wtf was up with the Britney Spears cover on Are You Dead Yet? |
don't you know that Alexi is a big Andrew W.K. and Britney Spears fan?!
|

I know exactly which ones are played by both guys too, I guess we just have different opinions because I prefer Alexi's.
do you mean that the tab-version was wrong?
Yep.
Yeah man, thanks. I'm thinking Follow the Reaper. Hey, wtf was up with the Britney Spears cover on Are You Dead Yet?
For fun. They just think it funny that "tr00 and grim" people that listen to metal have gone and smashed their Bodom CD's and ripped up their shirts because they covered a pop song. Music is supposed to be about having fun and playing music, not how badass you look etc. People doing that ^^ was when they expected and get a kick out of. |
hell my favorite cover is Sombodys Watching Me, and thats pop :p
