i bought jazz 3's and they're really small so im having ahard time keeping my grip but i think they're working better...maybe ill be able to handle some of laiho's stuff now...
|
Ah, yeah, I know.
PERFECTIONIST! :p Nah, I know a lot of songs on that album are quite damn hard. But the title track is just a relaxing break from the bitchy riffs, haha. "Chokehold" is still somewhat of a bitch for me.
True dat.
i bought jazz 3's and they're really small so im having ahard time keeping my grip but i think they're working better...maybe ill be able to handle some of laiho's stuff now...
Having the same picks won't make you able to play Children of Bodom songs... But if you're finding regular Jazz III's too small, do what I did and buy some Jazz III XL's, same as a regular J3, but same size as a regular pick.
I meant the whole album in general. I'm only speaking for myself but there's something in every song that I'd need to practise before being able to play it 100% perfect.
I didn't mean every note of the album is stupid simple. I just meant AYDY & HCDR aren't as difficult as SW/FTR/HB. I doubt I could play Lake Bodom or Kissing The Shadows well. However, when I practice: I can play AYDY with great ease(most of it) and much of Bodom Beach Terror, which is a bit harder. btw. @ Mitch, your Mask Of Sanity GP sounds quick good, except that lead riff. That seems more correct in a tab I learned it with ages ago. |

i saw on youtube an interview with paul gilbert and he said that he is using metal-picks  and Yngwie is playing on 1.5mm, so i went to my guitar shop yesterday i bought Dunlop USA 1.5mm and 2mm.
till now i only played on 1 - 1.14mm
Yeah me too. When I saw the word Ghost, I thought it was you and another account but since you're replying to it, it can't be.
yeah, its the same i thought too... talkin about creating an account called ghost, and then this fag took it away :upset: well, till i won't get banned again i don't need a new account. btw. i think the guy is gone... only one post. who scared whom? lol |
Buying picks cause others use them is missing the point, different people have different fingers and different technique, thats why peoples picks differ.
|
i always changed and tried out different picks. i started with nylon 0.88, then moved to plastic picks (dunlop) 0.7 and 0.88; for the longest time i played on 0.88 and 1.00mm, recently i moved to 1.14 and since yesterday 1.5mm.
tbh i never thought it will be comfortable to play on such thick picks like 1.5, but i like it... you have more control over the strings, can pick faster and more exact. meanwhile its nearly impossible for me to play on 0.88! the lowest i still can play is 1.00. |
try out 3mm
|
3mm? eh... no... i increase the thickness slowly... 1.5mm now.. then 2mm and so on... i will see if i ever will be using 3mm, but i don't think so.
|
I use the Jazz III XL's because I like the stiff feeling of them, but I also think the regulars are a tad too small, so the XL's are fine. And also I use the same picks as Yngwie at times, purple Jim Dunlops.
|
dunlops 1.5 are green with an alligator on it
|
breaking news, thanks for that
|
Aren't they the Gator Grip things? I have a purple one and I can't use it at all. I have to use a sharp tip. |
is it normal that on records you can hear the pick hitting the string?
|
Depends if you mic up. If you use a digital camera or mic up your amp and don't actually have the volume that loud, you'd be able to hear the pick hitting the string yeah but if you're going line in or something then you won't be able to hear the pick hitting the string, but you'll hear pick attack.
|
ah, ok... then its called pick attack. yes... i use line-in, so its normal... hm... well, i think i have to live with this.
btw. 165bpm... 5bpm left :p |
I love the sound of pick attack. Alexi and Paul Gilbert both have loads of it and I love having it too.
If you can't get it to 170, just record it at 165, noone will care tbh. |
what are you recording?
I just found my metronome after a few weeks, so i started learning Silent Night, Bodom Night |
deaths - trapped in a corner (intro) for the riff game in the guitar forum
i wanted to record it now, but now i realized that there is a good movie on tv... i will make it later in the night, or tomorrow. |
Death pwn hard.
Havent listened to them in a while though. |
some songs are good, but most of them are just average or even horrible.
some months ago i listened to them a lot, but now i stopped - i had my death-period, now its over. |
Whatever, they always were and are a brilliant band, i cant help that you like such piss poor music.
|
Yeah, i've never heard a bad or average Death song. Every song = classic.
|
|
How's it going man?
|
Not too bad thanks, bored out of my mind lately though :(
and yourself ? |
I never did care for Death much...music is top notch, but Chuck's vocals irritate me to no end.
|
They're different on most albums.
|
Yeah ^
Favorite ones are on Symbolic. I'm sorry, I havn't been in this thread for ages, and when I finally do,it's not about CoB. |
My fave vocals are on Scream Bloody Gore; i dunno why but the way he screams Eviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiil Deaaaaaaaaaaaad in 'Evil Dead' just gets me everytime.
