Do you have an intercom system so the principal can be heard in every class? :)
Yep. Definetly.

About Lunch at school:

Does it suck as badly as on tv?

Sometimes, other times they have awesome turkey/ham sandwiches

Do food fights occur regularly?

I've never ever seen one IRL

Why is that either everyone buys their lunch or everyone brings their own lunch?

I don't see any other option, except off campus lunch, which was banned a few years ago at my school.

If you bring it is it in a brown paper bag?

When I used to bring lunch in elementary school, yes it was in a brown paper bag.
By the way; Great album, I have a review of it on sputnik.

EDIT:

Do you have an intercom system so the principal can be heard in every class? :)
Yes they do but usually it isnt the principal, but one of his secerataries. In my high school it was essentially only used to give the daily announcements in the morning and say the pledge of allegence.

superpeer 08-28-2005 04:58 PM
Yep. Definetly.
Wow, I think not a single school has that here, I only know it from on TV. Do they call people to the principal's office at once?

No, its usually worse

Never experienced a single one

Its fairly cheap and most parents arent even awake early enough to make the lunch for their children. (for example, I had to leave to catch the bus in high school at 6:15 AM)

Yes, because brown paper bags are cheap
Wow, I think not a single school has that here, I only know it from on TV. Do they call people to the principal's office at once?
It's not as forceful like that. They normally use it for announcements and to call staff meetings. We have office aids that walk around handing slips to different classes when they need some kid to come to the office. That way they can use that slip as a pass and not get detention for ditching.

Do all american students look like pricks (and the girls that slutty)? No, they look the same as British people.

Do school sport teams matter so much? At some schools. Mostly big ones, but if the teams are good, they are a big deal.

Do you really give THAT much attention to who's gone out with whom? I dont buy there are people who live for getting that kind of information.

Do all americans care about their dogs THAT much/ do you all have dogs? Not all, but some obviously do, its mostly the snobby people who care about there little dogs, or people who love thier hunting dogs.

Do you all live in these typical too floor houses and have a garden? In suburban America, yes.

Do you know where Greece is? Isnt it in the Meditteranean Sea, across from Turkey in southern Europe?

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-28-2005 05:11 PM

Do all american students look like pricks (and the girls that slutty)?Nope

Do school sport teams matter so much?To some people yes. Most people attend the sporting events to hang out with their friends. It's what I do.

Do you really give THAT much attention to who's gone out with whom? Some people do. It goes like this- If your friends dated her, she's out of bounds.

Do all americans care about their dogs THAT much/ do you all have dogs?I like my dogs. And my cats. :-D

Do you all live in these typical too floor houses and have a garden?2 stories and a loft for me, some landscaping, no garden.

Do you know where Greece is? I couldn't get there on a boat, but I could point it out on a map.

Endless Obsession 08-28-2005 05:14 PM

About Lunch at school:

Does it suck as badly as on tv? No, I actually find it enjoyable, but I go to a suburban rich school so IDK about inner-city.

Do food fights occur regularly? No, but the last day of 8th grade leaving Middle school we decided to be the first grade to ever actually have one like that, and my friend stood up and yelled food fight, and one broke out like the ones you see in movies, it lasted for like 45 seconds before everyone ran out of stuff to throw. I shook up a pepsi and chucked it at the table and it bounced off and hit a teacher in the neck, she had to go to the hospital it was hilarious.

Why is that either everyone buys their lunch or everyone brings their own lunch? Because those are the only two options...

If you bring it is it in a brown paper bag? Yes.

Ok here's the truth about Belgium:

We don't have yellow school buses. I take a normal bus to school, just public transportation.

We don't have proms and I don't think I've ever drank punch. Maybe once.

We have lockers, but they don't look like on tv and you have to request to use one and pay warranty, not many people use them.

We had school lunch at one point, but not enough kids bought it, so they stopped (this was just my high school though, other school still have it)

I always brought my lunch, but, I've never used or even seen, I think, a brown paper bag. We carry our groceries in plastic bags, there's not a single store who uses paper bags.

We don't have an intercom system. We don't talk to our flag either. :p

We don't have cheerleaders, at least I don't think we do.

We do beat up nerds. :)

I like hamburgers, but I'm not overweight.

That's it? ... :\

EDIT: € stands for Euro. :p

We have yellow school busses for elementry here, but I take public transit for highschool too.
We have lockers, but they don't look like on tv and you have to request to use one and pay warranty, not many people use them.
Really? Everyone gets there own locker (in high school) here, for free.

My elementry school didn't even have a cafeteria.

I've only seen a few people do that here, which was maybe about three times. Actually, the ones who have done so have gotten laughed at here. :-/

Same for Canada.
It's amazing that none of you wondered what it stood for, when you see it every day.
In america everything is pushed on us. We basically have to believe one way (not always there are goverment exceptions, but those dont last very long) they push religion on us, how we are to learn, what we are to do with our lives ETC. its gotten worse over the years cause parents arnet strict.

Take 30 years ago for example, a little kid tells his mom he wants to be a rock star. Back then the kid would get smacked for being stupid (Even if the kid was a prodigy guitar player, his parents would want him working on his education) Now a days you take the same thing, and the mom will say "you can do whatever you want sweety pie". The kid ends up failing school cause he thinks he will be a rockstar, he starts selling drugs, gets arrested, and becomes someones bitch in prison.

this does relate to the whole (S $) thing as well, why? Because its not the kids fault growing upthat we dont know shit, its the government, parents and how they choose what is right and wrong for the kid.

Im sure there is somekid nowadays that is asking mommy.

we have a 6th form ball at the end of the year...same sort of thing I think

my 7 year old nephew said to me today- "You're a bit of a wierd 17 year old...all you do is play on your computer or go on the internet, or work, but that doesn't count"
I said, "well I go to band practice, that's cool right?"
I have no life and even a 7 year old realises this...that sucks arse

Can anyone locate Belgium for me? No cheating.

Jom 08-28-2005 05:59 PM

Meh, I see I missed out on a cool Q&A session.

I was at this church thing, but it was more like a rock concert. The first thirty minutes were these four dudes rocking out for Jesus while everyone sang along on a Titantron, and the rest was a half-hour long "extended homily." Raised as a Catholic, that's all I can describe it as. It was interesting, but I'm sure my parents wouldn't be too thrilled about it. My one friend was super excited about going and said he waited all summer to go. I guess there are these different speakers who talk to the congregation (?) and each one is supposedly awesome in their own way. I would like to go again, I guess, but it was just a bit weird considering how "church" is defined for me. But then again, I'm sure that it's reasonable to say I went to something on Sundays.

I dunno.
