Tyler 11-14-2008 12:06 PM

I'm very anti-Sound Academy so I won't be there.

alytee123 11-14-2008 12:08 PM

Seeing them tomorrow with Whitechapel and Architects

Sex

Jev 11-14-2008 12:09 PM

Wow there will be a few wanking off when lights play.

Whitechapel447 11-14-2008 12:33 PM
Lights is her: http://www.myspace.com/lights

I know Protest doesn't like the typical "every band sounds the same" tours... I generally agree - it's cool to go to a show and see bands that sound different from each other. Doesn't mean I enjoy seeing Machete Avenue all the time. I'm guessing Lights won't be much better.

Meh, if that DKE Mansion show happens then they're here twice in December! woooo.
when i saw them they played with whitechapel, acacia, unearth and gwen stacy. that's like a big tour of "everybody sounds generally the same EXCEPT pth"

Tyler 11-14-2008 12:48 PM

Doesn't mean that's their preference. In the US market they don't have as much say.

Whitechapel447 11-14-2008 12:49 PM

naw i wasn't saying that, i was just mentioning how out of place they were. it was the brutality of whitechapel and acacia strain then shredding and pth cleans. i don't dislike them i've actually taken a liking to them in the last few weeks.

Dimmu Burger 11-14-2008 01:19 PM
Doesn't mean that's their preference. In the US market they don't have as much say.
This is true for prettymuch anywhere. They are so unique that they will stand out on any tour. Sikth is the only band that they remotely fit with and they broke up. Maybe I Am Abomination as well, but that's about it.

Benzilla 11-15-2008 12:46 AM

Look what I found:

If Rody heard this again he'd probably want to go back in time and kill himself.

Holycrap, this too:

rofllllll

James46n2 11-15-2008 12:07 PM

Ugh, that video was too cringe-inducing for me. I got through about 10 seconds.

About the Sound Academy - yeah, I never liked that venue either. Haven't been there since it was called The Docks, I've heard it's changed. Anyway, it's been far too long since that Dungeon show so I don't really care about the venue.

Jev 11-15-2008 12:32 PM
Becuase my computers microphone only picks up the high notes, and it makes my voice sound bad.
Oh cool

Grindchoke 11-15-2008 12:56 PM

Ok check it out, it's like 2 in the ****in morning

Jev 11-15-2008 01:02 PM

What an ignorant cunt, people are sleeping!

Grindchoke 11-15-2008 01:42 PM

Haha I don't know if I've seen anyone do a vocal cover of Protest well.

Benzilla 11-15-2008 03:42 PM

I'd be willing to bet that the people who would be able to do one well aren't the type to record themselves doing vocal covers in the first place.

DBlitz 11-15-2008 08:40 PM

Yea, but I think in related videos there was a decent one, but you couldn't really tell because the music's volume was quite loud.

Dimmu Burger 11-16-2008 08:36 AM
I'd be willing to bet that the people who would be able to do one well aren't the type to record themselves doing vocal covers in the first place.
Exactly. I'm not recording myself doing that. Too gay.

alytee123 11-16-2008 10:37 AM

PtH were beyond tight last night. I was surprised at just precise they nail everything, musically and vocally. And Rody has some funny in between song banter.

'If you want a circle pit do not come and see us, don't you dare circle pit to this next song'

xD

awia 11-16-2008 10:52 AM

a decent cover of no stars
PtH were beyond tight last night. I was surprised at just precise they nail everything
Apparently they've only been doing that recently. Pre and early Kezia era I hear they were more into jumping off amps and bitch tossing their guitars than playing their own songs correctly.

Dimmu Burger 12-12-2008 10:51 AM

Ok so I see they are touring Europe/UK with The Chariot and The Human Abstract. I would go if this tour were in the US, but I would probably not enjoy tHA. Any of you Europeans going?

quite hilarious

Benzilla 12-13-2008 03:16 PM

Arif and Rody talk about farts, fu**king cartoon characters:

0m3ga0n3 12-13-2008 05:53 PM

Old Protest's vocals sucked balls, Kezia rapes the masses, and Fortress is ehhh.

RiceMonster 12-13-2008 05:54 PM

I hated Protest back when I first heard them, which was when they were still a highschool band. It was mainly because the vocals were so bad.

Tyler 12-13-2008 05:59 PM

I loved ACUOS but I do remember thinking Rody kind of really sucked when I got it.

0m3ga0n3 12-13-2008 05:59 PM

Yeah. I heard Kezia and then started to look up their old stuff and was extremely disappointed. Besides that EP and crap, PTH is one of my favorite bands by far. Extremely talented, accurate, and just plain awesome.

Tyler 12-13-2008 06:02 PM

The EP still rules and "I Am Dmitri..." is still the best thing they've ever done.

0m3ga0n3 12-13-2008 06:11 PM

Yeahhh! "I Am Dmitri Karamazov And the World Is My Father" is their tightest older song.

Tyler 12-13-2008 06:57 PM

it's the tighest ever song

0m3ga0n3 12-13-2008 10:42 PM

Dewd. I'm gunna go with Turn Soonest to the Seas. And Sequoia Throne's introduction is simply a masterpiece.

Tyler 12-13-2008 11:09 PM

I Am Dmitri

Chriblan 12-14-2008 03:15 PM

Protest the Hero is by far one of my favourite hardcore/metal bands... AND they're Canadian.

Everyone in that band is "oh, so talented" and I'm pumped to go see them this Saturday!

Rody's vocals are crazy! He can sing soft and falsetto and then scream like a mad man!

Timba's guitar playing is undeniably amazing!

Luke Hoskin's lead guitar shredding is astounding!

Moe plays those drums like there's no tomorrow

and

Arif is one mad mofo on bass!

PTH is amazing and I will never lose my love for them. lol

Rock on.

Dimmu Burger 12-14-2008 04:07 PM

True dat.

I'm rocking I am Dimitri... right now. Not bad for their older stuff.

Chriblan 12-15-2008 08:24 PM

Their old stuff is hit and miss with me. I like some of it and the other ones just make my think, "Wow, they've certainly matured musically!"

---

Kezia is great, don't get me wrong, but Fortress is just as good, if not better!

Bloodmeat?
Wretch?
Limb From Limb?
Sequoia Throne!?!?

Those are amazing!

shortz 12-15-2008 09:50 PM

Yeah, it's nice to see just how much they've matured throughout their three (well I guess technically four?) releases.

ACUOS is great for old school listenin' and I Am Dmitri is a classic by far. Wasn't it taken from a book or something? I have to agree with Coke, nothing will top the awesomeness that is Dmitri

Tyler 12-15-2008 09:56 PM

Brothers Karamazov/Karamazov Brothers. One of the best books (if not the best) ever written. The fact rf wrote such ridiculous lyrics about such a ridiculous book at that age is...ridiculous.

Chriblan 12-15-2008 10:17 PM

rf?

Rody?

Maybe he just felt like writing about them... ? lol, nothing wrong with that.

Static 12-15-2008 10:37 PM

rf = arif

willfellmarsy 12-15-2008 10:48 PM

i go to A Calculated Use of Sound more than Fortress when i want some protest, such as im doing right now...what up with that?
