pretty sweet. would have been nice if it wasn't the same thing over and over again with different animals. the horn arrangements in that are song bit'chin though.
|
uhhhh somebody reupload please??
|
I don't understand what's supposed to be going on in that video. It got a little psychedelic though, in the last two minutes or so. That was kinda cool.
|
I approve of that video. Very cool.
|
That was a sweet video and a sweet song aswell. I'm really excited now.
|
It was pretty cool, not terribly so. Good song though.
|
Better than the cookie cutter videos we see from bands like Big D and the Kids table
|
So the album didn't strike me the first two listens, but I woke up with parts of songs stuck in my head, so now I'm going back and listening to some of them, and it's lyrically and musically starting to get to me like EGN did and does.
|
I'm pretty sure it's going to be a grower
|
The video was interesting and amusing but I think a video's main purpose should be to get people excited about the song more. It didnt do that for me. I do like that song but the video doesnt add anything to it.
|
I don't look for that necessarily when watching a video. But I guess Streetlight are new at making videos. A good start
|
Now this is my kinda' thread.
**** I love Streetlight. |
Is this the first time you've seen this thread?
|
I like that video, but that song is sooooooo good
|
its my least fav of the three i've heard so far but still a solid song. also, i think the last two big D videos were pretty cool in their defense...
|
Is this the first time you've seen this thread?
Yes lmao. Leave me alone, I don't ever bother coming to Punk. I just noticed it from the Main Page. |

It's probably my favorite on the album, although the title track is really starting to get to me. |
album rules. i came.
|
I'm in love with The Receiving End Of It All. It's amazing..
although the line "no one will ever see these cuts, no one will ever know its blood" is uhh... yeah. |
Probably my least favorite song on the album. I find some of it kind of annoying, actually.
Espcially him saying "the receiving end of it all." Dont' really know why but it bothers me. |
That video is terrible and was made for the weakest song on the album.
I don't like the way his art changed from brigth reds and blues with black and white to these muted fall colors. The browns worked really well with BOTAR's art, but even that had bright yellows that contrasted well against the reds. If someone sees this album on the shelves they'll think it's some crap acoustic rock band. The album is great, aside from the pointless solos in half the songs. The title track would be on par with Point Counterpoint if it weren't for the utterly crap solos in the middle. |
it feels like a lot of the songs had tacked on gimmicks unfortunately. watch it crash could have been ended a full 2 minutes earlier, skipping the whole system of a down breakdown thing. if i get bored i may edit all the songs down a lot shorter and see if it makes it better.

Any one else find Forty Days to be absurdly catchy?
|
yeah, i like that song. It is catchy. I actually think the choruses stick a lot stronger in your head than the EGN ones did.
|
yea, and while we're chopping off all the cool solo's we can cut out the intros, the outros and maybe reduce all the songs to one chorus each.
|
Could someone either upload, or link me an upload to wickedtrainofthought@gmail.com?
It'd be mad appreciated, and for whatever it means, I'll Rep++ |
This kind of sucks.
the drums suck. |

I'm not talking instrumentals, I'm talking the obvious, semi-improvised solos. In a band where every note is purposefully placed, they disrupt the whole feel of the song. The solos I'm talking about don't feel like part of the song. Here's to life has a really long solo, but it is essential to the song. Every note is placed purposefully. These solos feel improvised. For the same reason why the only songs they re-recorded for Keasby Nights that aren't better than their Catch 22 counterparts are the songs with solos. It's the difference between high school solos, which people play for fun, and a touring musician's solo, who feels he might have something to prove. My guess is Thomas got nice and let his band mates write a few lines. And they tried too hard to impress. And also, yes, there are a few intros and closures that could benefit from a trim. Half the songs are a minute too long. Mercy Me starts building to a great ending then repeats the intro. It's not that the intro doesn't work an ending, but the song builds toward an ending twice. And the album intro (we will fall together) is pointlessly long, which is why it doesn't work for a video. Compare it to the first track on A Call to Arms, which is a much longer intro. ACtA's intro builds and builds to the start of the second track. WWFT, on the other hand, is aimless. It builds, then falls, then builds again, then goes into a solo, then a duet then a solo and finally into the start of the song. By the time it starts it's lost all the momentum from the intro. In many ways this album is better than EWN. It's production is better. The drums sound better, which is partly because the production is better, but also because the songs are more rhythmic. Somewhere in the Between and Would You Be Impressed don't sound at all like SM or Catch 22. Their surface is the same, because Thomas has a distinctive voice, all songs are in the same basic range, the instruments and guitars have the same tone from song to song. There are fewer repeated choruses, fewer anthems and more call and response. But it's less consistent. We'll see how it feels after 50 or 60 listens. |
this is called a hook if i'm not mistaken. but i've only heard down down down, watch it crash and the song with th video so i can't really speak for the album in general. but from what i've heard i tend to disagree. |
This kind of sucks.

New album is a grower, unlike EGN which was awesome on first listen.
|
WTF!!! I'm gone for like a week and then the new Streetlight leaks!!!!
Anyways, I won't download it anyway so it doesn't matter too much. What really matters for me is that they've announced the new dates for the upcoming world tour: http://www.streetlightmanifesto.com And this time they are going to come to my town, which they have never been before. That is absolutely awesome even though RBF is going to headline. They are going to play at one of the greatest venues in a really cool place called Christiania. |
thats a really intense tour schedule. no canadian dates though :(
Any one else find Forty Days to be absurdly catchy?
I absolutely do. In fact it became my instant favorite the first time I heard the album. I don't know what my favorite is right now. All I know is the album is awesome. My only "complain" about it is the lack of some kind of "A better place, a better time" song. You know the perfection through simplicity and absolutely astonishing build up through the song. It is just so amazing. If there was that kind of track in this album it would be just as good as EGN. |
Fucking Ticketmaster.
Well, I guess I have to go to lancaster to get tickets, rather than pay twice the ticket price... |
i really like the trumpet in one foot on the gas, one foot in the grave but that's just me...
oh screw off tom and come to canada again! |
Mm... didn't like the video that much, the song's good though.
I really dig the title track at the moment, but why the hell wasn't that the album closer. |
streetlight were just in canada...
|
streetlight were just in canada...
Ya they were, like 2 months ago. |
i know that, but they were also just in the usa. it wouldn't hurt to make a quick stop off in toronto again
