no, New Beats are like God.

jusiefroot 02-05-2006 12:15 AM

i'm trying to find a set of hats that'll work for anything between funk and metal. i was thinking A Custom Mastersound 14" or Paiste Signature Sound Edge 14". And I'm also looking for kind of a funky ride with a nice ping and a solid bell... i was thinking HH Raw bell dry ride or the HH Leapord Ride... thanks!

stage hats

Big_Bret 02-05-2006 09:37 AM

Hi, I'm looking to buy my first Crash cymbal...

I need a Crash that can be used as a "beater" (Keep a beat on it, just like on the hi-hats) and that can be used in most "hard" music, like from Slow Rock to Hardcore...

If you guys could help me, it would be really appreciated :)

P.S. I'm kinda new to drumming, so I'm not really familiar with the terms used... If you need more info, just tell me...

HeLLmO 02-05-2006 11:27 AM

check out sabian, AAX stage and AAX/HHXplosion crashes are great. as are AA Metal X, from Paiste if u have the cash u can look at 2oo2, and zildjian look at stuff like A Customs, but don't get Z customs. meinl has some good ones too, Amun, Raker, Soundcaster, and byzance are great

full collapse 02-05-2006 11:51 AM

AAX/HHXplosion crashes are great but, not if you are going to want to be riding on them because, the length of sustain. The AAX stage would work nice, though. Maybe try an AA Medium...

the_pure_drummer 02-05-2006 02:44 PM

hey ive got a good set of new b8's and i find the crash isnt trashy enough theres too much of a ping and help on a nice trashy but not too much crash any help appreciated!!! asap:smash:

18" Zildjian Crash of Doom. The trashiest crash around.

If its too trashy (I'm presuming it is) just test around.

chewaz 02-06-2006 02:41 AM

the crash of doom (and the orietals) are one of they few things i like about zildjian, but! buy the HHXtreme it's freakin awesome :O

TTTSNB 02-06-2006 08:42 AM

I'm looking to get a bell to complement my 12" Sabian Ice Bell, I'm looking for a smaller one preferably, can be any brand.

what about the stagg black metal bells? or the zil-bels? Stagg ones would most likely be harder to get here though in the states.

Drum Phil 02-06-2006 10:53 AM

6" Zilbel?

Canadian_Drummer 02-06-2006 11:11 AM

21" Zildjian A Sweet ride

saars 02-06-2006 09:55 PM

I'm looking for a splash that sounds well with my a zildjian 10" splash. I'm open to any company along the lines of zildjian, paiste, and sabian cause like i said before, GC only carries these. Then again, you can do whatever cause I'm most likely going to order it from massmusic or something.

good versatile splash=10inch sabian AA splash. GC doesnt carry AA but they will order it for you. I would jsut order it from massmusic if i was you if youre going sabians.

I'm guessing I'll order myself a new set of cymbals tonight. It will be a 20" a-custom ping ride. now i have a problem. I want to buy either a 17 and 18" a zlidjian medium crashes, or 17 and 18" a zildjian rock crashes.. which sound better? I'm guessing the mediums would be more versatile cymbals.. whta do you think i should go for? mediums or rock's?

yeah, I don't dig the zil-bells much, I'll check out the black metal ones though.

Doubt its your only one but I'd HIGHLY recomend it. I've got one myself and it sounds fantastic.

I'm looking for a really glassy splash with a good sustain that would go well on a set up with A's and A customs. Considering saibains portnoy splash's as i've heard there quite glassy. Anyone got any suggestions?

chewaz 02-08-2006 01:00 PM

K heavy = HH heavy???
and the AA raw bell dry ride is like the AA dry ride but with a bigger and raw bell? cause i like the dry ride :O

Tim 02-08-2006 05:13 PM

AA raw bell=my next cymbal, or the AA medium. not sure yet.

taman4life 02-08-2006 05:34 PM

for company, probably zildjian or sabian, but im open to more then just those, also i play mainly rock or stuff like that, but id like to have a ride that is pretty versatile for like jazz and rock and some metal.. for splashes probably the same thing thanks for any help

Tim 02-09-2006 03:41 PM

the sabian AA rock ride is a good ride for what youre looking for. as far as jazz goes though it probably wont fit that well in that playing situation. the A ping ride from zildjian would be similar to the AA rock ride as well. I would look into some medium heavy rides if i was you. They would be pretty good for the rock setting and ok for jazz as well.

taman4life 02-09-2006 04:27 PM

^^ alright thanks ill check out those cymbals

punkrocker2o1 02-09-2006 04:57 PM

I basically play every type of music and I was looking at the 13" K/Z Dyno Beats or New Beats..Anyone know which hi-hats are very versatile and can be used for most types of music?

3000th response in Cymbal Finder :chug: :p

HeLLmO 02-09-2006 05:02 PM

both hats would be good i think. which ever one u urself prefer would be the best to go with

ludvista29 02-09-2006 05:05 PM

in the future im thinking of adding these cymbals
20 k hybrid ride
17 k hybrid crash
19 k hybrid crash
11 K hybrid splash
9 K hybrid splash
13 K mastersound hats
10 A splash
12 A splash
Paiste Flanger bell
What do you think of these cymbals?

aznriceball 02-09-2006 05:48 PM

iv not had a chance to try out the hybrids yet (they're out already?), but the 10 and 12 a splashes work reallllly well, less uniqueness than maybe a 6" a custom or a 8" wuhan. they're on the level of new beats, good for anything :)
