So guys, favorite Slayer song to play on guitar?

Bazarov 05-06-2006 05:46 PM

Die by the Sword is pretty fun to play...

Apocalyptic Raids 05-06-2006 06:38 PM

Yeah, Die By The Sword or Black Magic.

Bazarov 05-06-2006 07:01 PM

I've never tried to learn that song, Black Magic. I'm pretty bored as of now too. I guess that's what I'll do.

victim of changes 05-06-2006 09:46 PM
Slayer should join the Celebrity Fit Club show on VH1.

Oh man, can't say that with a straight face.

So guys, favorite Slayer song to play on guitar?
Seasons in the Abyss. Slayer songs hurt my hands. :)

AA-12 05-06-2006 10:47 PM

Nice avatar. It's my favorite movie and book.

superflyjojo 05-06-2006 10:49 PM

My favorite to play would probably be either War Ensemble, or The Antichrist.

Nostalgia 05-06-2006 10:52 PM

Yeah, V for vendetta was an outstanding movie. The book was amazing too.

The best movie I've seen in 10 years.

That's pretty big, man. I have confidence that it will be the best movie of the year.

So, can anyone send me Show No Mercy? I really want to hear it.

Bazarov 05-07-2006 10:54 AM

Show no Mercy, the song?

so I was up really late last night and saw Vh1's top 40 Metal Songs... it was rather dissapointing, Slayer was in the teens with Raining Blood which was rather cool, but GnR's Welcome to the Jungle was placed at number 2. WTF?

Thor 05-07-2006 12:12 PM

Actually I'd like to get the entire album, if that's at all possible.

...and GnR isn't metal, wtf?

Bazarov 05-07-2006 01:56 PM

Yeah, I guess I can send you the album. Just post your email.

Nostalgia 05-07-2006 02:09 PM

VH1 Is garbage for Metal. They think the heaviest metal band is like Poison or Alice Cooper.

Bazarov 05-07-2006 02:18 PM

True.. hahaha Eddie Trunk came on and said something along the lines of we're continuing our countdown of brutal metal, and the next song was Rock You Like A Hurricane.

There was a healthy mix of thrash and heavy metal in there, but man when Korn, and System of A Down songs are placed at like 12 and 23 and stuff, it just ruins it. Sepultura was placed in there, it was surprising.

Nostalgia 05-07-2006 02:21 PM

Yeah, VH1 focuses more on like...The 80's metal. I don't know why they choose to, but they do.

They have some heavy bands; nothing too big though.

Bazarov 05-07-2006 02:26 PM

One thing I thought was odd, is that I remember once while watching Metal Mania, Eddie and Dee Snyder (I think it was Dee) were basically talking about how they don't like nu-metal bands.... but then Eddie owns VH1 so why would he even allow SOAD, Marylin Manson, and Korn to be on that list?

NP: Slayer - DDAMM

Thor 05-07-2006 02:33 PM
VH1 Is garbage for Metal. They think the heaviest metal band is like Poison or Alice Cooper.
Well they actually said that Slayer was the heaviest band out there.

FatalEnergy 05-07-2006 08:39 PM

The completely ignore Death metal, but they seemed to acknowledge that mallcore/nu-metal bullcrap. I didn't understand it. It's way too commercial, but entertaining nonetheless

Bazarov 05-07-2006 08:42 PM

It's odd yeah. I have this jaegertour magazine, and in there both Tom and Kerry are promoting Hatebreed and Killswitch... ew. And Kerry needs to stop his obsession with Slipknot.

For some reason, I think this new album is going to be better than GHUA, but still not really a good album.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-07-2006 08:44 PM
For some reason, I think this new album is going to be better than GHUA, but still not really a good album.
Yeah, that's what I think.

I think now Tom has said it's fast, everyone expects it to be really good.

AA-12 05-07-2006 08:45 PM

From the new Guitar World article, it looks to be good. If anyone wants i'll scan it tomorrow.

Bazarov 05-07-2006 08:46 PM

Yeah, that'd be cool.

Nostalgia 05-07-2006 11:35 PM

Butcher: Do you listen to Morbid Angel?

I don't mean to derail the thread; I just have a question.

Bazarov 05-07-2006 11:44 PM

Yup, I sure do.

I read a post on VH1.com of someone that said "Raining Blood" should have been replaced by "South of Heaven". Do you agree with this or not? I personally can't decide, as they both happen to be my two favorite Slayer songs.

Slapping Penguin 05-08-2006 06:14 AM

Sometimes, there comes a time in my life when I feel the need to come in here and say a few words.

That was the first Slayer song that I heard, and as you can see, it got me into the band. The riffing right after the quick drum solo is some of Slayer's best ever.

congrats thread! we now have 3000 replies! :chug:
WTF, indeed. I love that song though. What was number 1?
Number 1 was Iron Man.

I like Raining Blood more than the song South of Heaven. So I don't really agree.

I'm going to check out those videos later. I've gotta go to school.
