I just got Falling into infinity
It's great at first listen, lines in the sand is incredible, anyone have when dream and day unite? I can't find a copy, I have all DT's studio albums bar that one, also would you recommend me a live album? as I have always balked at the price of LATB.
Definitly Live Scenes in New York. The setlist is almost perfect. |
I've got a copy of it, I can send it to you sometime if you like.
Cheers man, I'm going to get all the live albums eventually, I might well get live at the marquee for it's heavily I&W themed set. |
Do we have a bassist in here who can do the solo in Metropolis Pt. 1?
Because if we do, help me out! |

can anyone play instrumedly, i cant memorize the **** thing cuz its so random and everythings different
|
hey Jred250. got your message.
sure we'd love to do an interview via email. it would be best though if we could do it when we get back in late october as we're swamped with europe stuff right now. is that ok? as far as bands, i have a lot of non-metal stuff to recommend: Ben Harper, Lyle Lovett, The Pogues, North Mississippi All-Stars to name a few. i try to be well rounded, you know? I'm writing Mike Portnoy from DT tonite. i'll tell him you say hi! talk soon, jaymz An e-mail I recieved from BTallica a day or so ago. Any questions for Portnoy you need answers to??? I will bring them up in the interview Thanks |
can anyone play instrumedly, i cant memorize the **** thing cuz its so random and everythings different
wow, i find it really easy to memorise the instumedly, i just can't play it. I wouldnt be able to play it in about 10 years more of guitar playing probably. can you actually play all the different sections but not all together. |
Hey I just got introduced to this band and I already love them just from the little bits and pieces that I have heard. I heard Glass Prison and was pretty much blown away and I heard As I Am and I like that one too. The only other band that I have heard that is kind of like them is Symphony X. So I was wondering which should be the first cd I should buy for them. I read reviews on a lot of them and they all sound awesome. If it means anything, I kinda like heavier songs a little more, but it sounds like these guys can do anything well. So ya, didn't know if there is really an album that I should buy first, like with Metallica most people say to buy MoP first.
|
Get Awake, its heavy enough you'll like it but not heavy enough its still good. IMO.
But you'll probably like Train of Thought better. |

You'll easily love Train of Thought. |

like It's a Jam (It's also Majesty backwards, Dream Theater's original name) EDIT: sorry for double post |
Train of thought is my favourite DT album other than I&W
I am going to start posting here again. :) |
I just realized that "Lifting Shadows Off a Dream" sounds way more U2ish than "I Walk Beside You".

I walk beside you is probably my favourite track on octavarium. That and these walls...oh and The answer lies within... |
I just realized that "Lifting Shadows Off a Dream" sounds way more U2ish than "I Walk Beside You".
But LSOAD isn't crappy. |
some parts of I walk Besides You are good too
|
I walk beside you is probably my favourite track on octavarium.
That and these walls...oh and The answer lies within...
huh? what about Octavarium |
huh? what about Octavarium
That track rules supremely too! It's a wonderful album... |

i'll look at it, and then play it, then forget it, i remember the first like 3 minutes of it, and the paradigm shift part |
I like the album Octavarium. Its not my favorite, but I think it is better than everyone gives it credit for.
|
like It's a Jam (It's also Majesty backwards, Dream Theater's original name)
EDIT: sorry for double post
whoa |

wow, i think your avatar is right when it comes to guitar playing. |
I am so loving DT's cover of Gangland right now (just downloaded album). Discuss.
|
I've been told i shouldnt buy Octavarium. That its crap. Is this true?
|
It's half good, half crap. I love Sacrificed Songs, it's really ****ing ace. The Root of All Evil and Panic Attack are also good imo, and Octavarium has its moments. I don't really listen to the other songs much.
EDIT: Not half crap, just half so-so. |
I've been told i shouldnt buy Octavarium. That its crap. Is this true?
I would recommend it. Its a pretty good album and there is only one song I dont like on it. |
I would recommend it. Its a pretty good album and there is only one song I dont like on it.
So would I, the more melodic songs are up there with surrounded and wait for sleep IMO |

Cool I'll probably buy it. I still love I&W though. Take the time Owns. By the way John P's solo stuff kind-of sucks |
Good choice. Its good, but it is not I&W.
Yeah...nothing is... it's simply one of the best albums ever written |
By the way John P's solo stuff kind-of sucks
I wanted to look into his stuff... whats wrong with it? |
Its just like him saying, hey look how good i am. That just pisses me off. There was a big deal about him in last months guitar world.
|
