No. Where at?
Also!: haha, I just got a free ticket for that Unearth tour tonight. I was originally not going to go as I only really wanted to see BDM and Terror, so I have to work. Luckily, I work 5 minutes from the venue so as soon as I get off (around 9:45) I'm going to go down there, hopefully catch a couple Unearth songs and m0sh it up, then go home.
it's at the Glasshouse. |
Hoods at the Glasshouse?! What the? Are they opening for somebody?
|
The scene near me is a joke. Sure, the bands are good, but the people there are really starting to make me angry. First off, punk is supposed to be about originality right? Well, when I go to these shows, all I see is people wearing the same goddamn Hot Topic shirts, tight pants, studs, etc. I know this argument is a tough one and has been made before, but I'd just thought I'd say that's it become increasingly sad around my area. Also, lately I've seen an increase in 14 year old teenage sluts, who stand their giggling, making sure they are at least 10 feet away from the pit at all times. And lest they be rammed by a kid from the pit. The kid then receives a stare from about 7 girls, usually accompanied by whispering and giggling. This leads me to me next point. Punk is also supposed to be about individuality. I go to a show to escape the little popular kid cliques of school. But of course, what am I greeted by? Little girls, sporting mini skirts and Von Dutch. I hear some of them talking about someone who looks ugly, which really gets me angry. These kids come to the fucking shows to escape, and they get made fun of? What the hell is that? The Trenton scene is becoming more of a joke with every band and new Hot Topic item.
That's my rant.
Welcome to every backyard show in the oc. |
Welcome to every backyard show in the oc.
My friend tells me that south OC is full of fashion kids and north OC is full of genuine kids. It seems to be true.
Welcome to every backyard show in the oc.
That sucks. I thought the Cali scene was cooler. At least you have some cool bands. But it looks like it's the same everywhere. |
This is why you head walk these motherfuckers. Seriously. It happens all the time here.
You guys in NorCal?
haha, no. It's okay though because other than the scene, NorCal sucks. |
Ok, who has some By the Grace of God mp3s? I've been listening to the same 5 over and over again for too long.
SoCal then?
You have cool shows every week man...
I live in OC, by Newport Beach :rich:. Yeah, we do get a lot of awesome shows, but we don't have much of a scene to call home. |

No one good around here 'cept for Marigold. Though PsyOpus are stopping by next month...
|
When I saw Death By Stereo/Bleeding Through my friend bought a pair of Himsa underwear and was moshing in that and only that.
|
Where'd they play?
|
SoCal scene = poop
NorCal scene = good
By NorCal, do you mean Northern California, or Central California? Because I live in Northern California, and there is no scene that I know of. |
By NorCal, do you mean Northern California, or Central California? Because I live in Northern California, and there is no scene that I know of.
NorCal = Bay Area + Sacramento.

The scene here is full of fashioncore kids that have black hair with the front dyed pink. I was talking to a guy the other day who just started a 'hardcore' band, so I asked him what they sounded like and he said "Kind of Underoath-ish". :upset:
NorCal = Bay Area + Sacramento.
That's what I was assuming. You live in Irvine right? |

Luckier than me. My "scene" is myself. There are some kids that are pop-punk emo (Taking Back Sunday, Matchbook Romance etc), some harder mainstream (Green Day, Billy Talent, The Vines) and some metalheads. |

what chu talkin bout, the jersey scene is good. We may not have as many shows as Buddy does, but we do have a fair amount. |
We have a million shows here in Jersey. There is probably 5 or more shows in just the month of October I want to go to.
|
philly needs more straight-up hardcore bands. most of the stuff i know is all metalcore.
|
That's what I was assuming. You live in Irvine right?
Irvine represent!
|
Irvine represent!
Do you like it? Is it nice there? I just got accepted to UC Irvine and although it isn't at the top of my list, I figured I might as well find out about the area. |
The NYC scene isn't much. I know two kids that like hardcore but there is no "scene" I know of. I have a bunch of friends that I go see pop punk bands with (Fall Out Boy, Punchline, TBS, etc. etc.), but they are almost all girls. Most of the kids that go to NYC shows live in CT, LI, and NJ.
|
Thats cause NJ rules. You going to the Souls/Avail/SA/D4 show tomorrow at BB Kings?
|
aw, that show is going to own. i have from ashes rise, paint it black, and breather resist on sunday. i hope i end up going.

I just moved here from Dallas, TX. and UC Irvine is like 5-10 minutes from the beach (Newport). It's a really good school too, they just added new dorms.
I don't feel like typing out a definition of screamo, because I know someone's going to ask it in here eventually, so if you want one:
Go to the pop-punk forum. Search for a thread titeld "REAL screamo" Voila.
that would never happen because screamo sucks it's just a bunch of whinny pussys |
