hey im lernign phantom of the opra on bass wish me luck i can play it jus not quite full speed surprise surprise.
plz wish me luck i need it
good luck have fun

Holyed 09-22-2004 12:34 PM

That seems like a good fun song to play bass. I learnt the guitar parts for that, and that interlude in the middle sounds sweet when the bass stars.

ashman 09-22-2004 02:47 PM
for instance, today i learn that you live near hull
WITCH!!...Now wheres my pitchfork and torch.

POTO great song to play on guitar...not that hard, but IMO so much harder on bass.

All I have to add is:

HARRIS FOR GOD!!! :thumb:

good luck, hard song to play

GurS 09-22-2004 03:00 PM

actually, ash, i just saw in the uk classified you had replied to one of the threads asking for hull people (as your name was in the most recent post dealy)

another life sounds pretty hard to play, the intro at least.

ed hunter 09-22-2004 03:40 PM

i can play the intro jsut not fast enough i need to double the speed how the hell am igonan get that i need to pic quicker harris uses 3 fingers i cant use 2. **** im gonna need my teachers help

YDload 09-22-2004 03:55 PM

^ I usually use three fingers for speed, but the rhythm of Phantom of the Opera makes it impossible for me to do it with anything but two. I can't even get it all the time, but if I build up enough speed I can usually get it right sometimes.

I wasnt talkin to you 09-22-2004 05:46 PM

Does Maiden ever go to Ausralia? never seen them coming

Shady Ultima 09-22-2004 08:15 PM

Phantom is definately fast. The intro is crazy, but if you can nail it, it sounds amazing. Kinda like all maiden songs!

STEVE HARRIS FOR GOD
^ Never thought anyone would actually copy that!

GurS 09-23-2004 09:48 AM

Nicko McBrain for god

ed hunter 09-23-2004 09:52 AM

hey im a bass player and a huge maiden fan. what else am i gonna sa i hate cristian beleife geting em rammed down my throat at school harris shoud go kick gods *** and take his place

Thunder Fingers 09-23-2004 09:57 AM
i can play the intro jsut not fast enough i need to double the speed how the hell am igonan get that i need to pic quicker harris uses 3 fingers i cant use 2. **** im gonna need my teachers help
Steve only use 2 fingers(me too :p i cant play with three for ****..)... and i schooled my teacher with that song(not to brag but he went like "um.. yeah... let me get my pick" :p) its not that hard realy... how long have you been playing?

HondoII 09-23-2004 11:59 AM

Cool song to learn.

Lord Abortion 09-23-2004 12:27 PM

on this subject, for all players what is the most difficult maiden song to play you find... on any instrument
I play drums and Hallowed be thy name is very hard
HARRIS FOR GOD!!!

HondoII 09-23-2004 12:31 PM

the hallowed be thy name solo is ....

Thunder Fingers 09-23-2004 12:36 PM

I would say phantom of the opera.. but then, many of maidens instrumentals are probbaly harder than that, but i have never realy tried any of them yet...

deaconmicuk 09-23-2004 12:37 PM

Phantom of The Opera is hard to play, but I can manage it now, I've been playing 9 months now though, so that could explain it.

paddy_unsatisfied 09-23-2004 12:40 PM

judas be my guide baffles me. but i havent been playing that long. i think im going to get my teacher to help me with it. (Ive been playing long enough to be able to "play" it, i just cant work it out, i aint no novice  )

The Mercenary 09-23-2004 02:12 PM

judas be my guide is a fantastic song, i found it relatively easy to play, but i guess i have been playing a little longer.

off the subject, have maiden ever released a live version of 'seventh son of a seventh son' (the track!) with a single or anything, i'd love to hear it live!

ed hunter 09-23-2004 02:13 PM

on bass the intro the che clairvoyant is awkward because of the dead notes involved which i hate

GurS 09-23-2004 02:14 PM

judas is one of my favourite songs of FOTD

and, mercenary, check out Maiden England - the live video/cd of the seventh tour of the seventh tour

ashman 09-23-2004 02:44 PM

IMO Judas is one of the best songs on FOTD as well :D

Actually the Hallowed be thy name solo isn't that bad, it was the second solo I could play (after trooper).

The hardest riffs/songs that I have tried to learn are: Intro to Afraid to shoot strangers, getting the the harmonic gallop in killers right, the intro to aces high, the futureal riff and NOTB it is kinda tricky...

GurS 09-23-2004 02:54 PM

<3 the harmonic slide in killers. tis amazing live on Maiden England
