Saw 'em play the Dungeon for the last time ever tonight. Beyond that, probably the last time they'll ever play a small bar. Rody sounded outstanding, and who cares if he made a stupid video with Chris, he's probably bored as **** and trying to spend time with his buddy before Warped (they leave tuesday).

Set was great. They even played an encore, which in around 40 shows I've only seen them do a handful of times. Would've killed for something old school but whatever.
You've seen Protest the Hero around 40 times?

Shattered_Future 06-14-2008 11:07 AM

Yeah, he's been over that at least 5 or 6 times. Tyler's name is somewhere in the Kezia booklet too, amirite?

JonG 06-14-2008 11:08 AM

i definitely like fortress more than kezia now

:O
You've seen Protest the Hero around 40 times?
Yeah. Not too often anymore, I see them around outside of the concert atmosphere more than I see them play now. When I started seeing 'em back in '03 they were these kids not much older than me who'd play a bunch of shows a month, never for more than 5 or 10 bucks. So I'd see them whenever possible, eventually getting to know them. So once you get to know them and they're playing what felt like weekly, of course I was gunna go.

Last night was actually the first time I'd seen them since Fortress came out.

ye

Angmar 06-14-2008 02:37 PM

Hmm I didn't know that, why/where do they mention you?

Tyler 06-14-2008 02:44 PM

tyler and jake, right side of the thank yous, because we're awesome.

Anglachel 06-14-2008 03:11 PM

Hah, I remember looking for a Tyler Munro when you mentioned that before but could never find it :(

JonG 06-15-2008 02:47 AM

I think of it as the "Turn the Soonest to the Sea" of Fortress.

metalhead_matt 06-16-2008 06:19 AM

Heard of these a couple of years ago, really like Divinity Within but the rest of Kezia is a bit sucky.

DBlitz 06-16-2008 06:24 AM

She Who Mars and Divine Suicide are my fav songs off Kezia.

publicastration 06-16-2008 07:24 AM

I've been thinking that lately I actually like Kezia a tiny bit more than Fortress.

I was there too. It was awesome... Don't really have much to add - agreed that Rody was really on. I hope it doesn't end up being the last time they play at a small bar but in all likelihood you're right.

My only (minor) gripe is that they still play such short headlining sets. I know they hate playing the really old stuff, but there's enough material on Kezia and Fortress to do more than a 45-50 minute set.

Tyler 06-16-2008 08:45 PM

It was such a ridiculously busy show, holy ****. I've never seen the Dungeon lined so far around the block. Thank god for guestlist and the 19+ section, hah. I busted out one of my super old Protest shirts for good measure, it was a fun time.

They have other songs to throw into their set but really I doubt they wanted to bother. It's a ****in' furnace in that place.

2muchket! 06-16-2008 09:01 PM

Hmmm so when they your this country if they're doing 45-50 minutes for headlining should I expect around say 30 minutes since they're supporting ?

srs wtf is up PTH supporting Parkway Drive. Of all the generic metalcore bands aswell

Tyler 06-16-2008 09:33 PM

It's an excuse to get overseas, which they've been trying to do for months. I'd say 30-35 is probably what you'll get.

2muchket! 06-17-2008 11:12 AM

Yeah I'm not complaining too much

Whitechapel and Architects more than make up for the **** headliners as well as PTH.

Pre-Kezia?

publicastration 06-17-2008 07:49 PM

I'm going to try and see Protest The Hero on Warped tour this summer.

Tyler 06-17-2008 08:57 PM
Pre-Kezia?
Pre-Kezia even being announced. Pre-Soft Targets in fact, hah. It's so big and frumpy, I used to buy Larges even though I'm somewhere in between a small and a medium. That shirt has been to hell and back, I'd say I've worn it to like 40 gigs (not all PTH obviously) and I've worn it in the rain and I've worn it while doing some unmentionable things.

I mean, the thing is brown when it was green when I bought it. It was stretched out and full of holes. And it was totally badass to bring it back for one last huzzaah

As of now i'm the opposite, but I think I'll listen to Kezia again today and it might change, lol. I just like the vocals a lot more on Fortress.
I'm going to try and see Protest The Hero on Warped tour this summer.
Same here...I HATE warped, but it might be worth the price with some of the acts they have this year.

Dimmu Burger 06-18-2008 11:47 AM

I want to go as well, but i have to work and its hard to get off during the summer. Gay!

FreeSmells 06-18-2008 11:48 AM

The crowds at warped are always so lame though...it throws a huge spike into things cuz it's that big of an issue.

publicastration 06-18-2008 12:01 PM

Yeah, there are some good bands this year. Dillinger Escape Plan, Horrorpops, Against Me!, Protest, The Vandals, Rise Against, etc.

FreeSmells 06-18-2008 12:02 PM

The Bronx, ETID, The Human Abstract

Dimmu Burger 06-18-2008 12:22 PM

I remember the Bronx!! I saw them live, it was good.

FreeSmells 06-18-2008 12:23 PM

I just hope they have as much energy on stage as they project through their albums.

Dimmu Burger 06-18-2008 12:33 PM

They did, go see them.

Tyler 06-18-2008 12:49 PM

The Bronx are amazing live. Kinda iffy on record. I saw them a few years back in this dingy dive bar with Dillinger Escape Plan and it was elite.
