Yeah, Kerry King is just a wanker...

man I can't miss an opportunity to say that.
Yeah. I like him though. I think Slayer writes some good, memorable riffs. As for the solos, I think you can guess, but other than that, I like him.

IheartSP 07-20-2005 11:19 PM

Wow the greatest thing just happend to me...

I listened to the Hatebreeder album, and it sounded like the first time I've ever listened to it. That happens every once in a while with something for me, and it is just the most amazing feeling in the world. It was like a completely new thing. And I still whole heartedly agree that it is the best Bodom album, I'm listening to FTR now and it's not living up to Hatebreeder. Black Widow is a severely underrated track btw.

Yeah, I didn't mean it really. He may have pointless feuds and he just can't say sorry it seems, but I've heard from others he's a really cool guy, and he's in an awesome band.

IheartSP 07-20-2005 11:37 PM

The beggining of Taste of my Scythe sounds really japanese, I wonder if they did that purposely for their japanese crowd.

I love the intro in black widow..
Here you go:

http://www.musicianalliance.net/tabs/Leah's%20Lesson.ptb

NOTES:

The positions of the arpeggios are just examples made to help develop your technique, you can move them up or down to wherever you want. I'd suggest trying them all over the fretboard.

Make sure you mute the note right before you play the next one.

Don't forget to keep your picking very smooth and fluent. Don't force yourself to pick hard, just let it glide over the strings.

I'll make more lessons whenever you feel comfortable doing these.
in the last few bars it would be simpler to hammer from the D# to the G, rather than picking the G and pulling off to the D#.

Also the way youve written it makes the sweep harder, and in the 3 note pattern kinda destroys the movement. I can explain further if you want.

I love it when that happens. That happened to me a little while ago when I was only listening to Hatebreeder and Hate Crew Deathroll, and I put on Follow the Reaper. It was great. I'd forgotten how much I loved that album.

I think I know what you mean, but could you go on a bit more?

Shattered_Future 07-21-2005 09:35 AM

Sweep picking i could never get the hang of...

I learned how to do a variation on tapping, though, from my Dream Evil DVD. :D

Awesome!
I can sorta do the little sweep picking riff on Bed of Razors. It needs some work though.

flamesofbodom 07-21-2005 09:38 AM

There's sweep picking in that song? I dont recall

Mr. Squiggles 07-21-2005 09:39 AM

I suck at sweep picking

Maybe it isn't, but I do use the technique.

John - did Metallica work?!

zymurgy 07-21-2005 09:47 AM

Those are good songs, and welcome to the forums.

Shadows 07-21-2005 09:53 AM

I can never remember...is Hellion a cover, or an original song? It's the only song on FtR I really don't like.

Assuming we all live in the same time zone, you guys all wake up too early.

Taste_My_Scythe 07-21-2005 09:54 AM

Hey Ben.
Woke up at 9:30. :p

John - file sent!

Shattered_Future 07-21-2005 09:55 AM

I got woken up at 10:30 today...

Too early...usually wake up at 11:00 earliest.

Shadows 07-21-2005 09:56 AM

It's almost noon here, and I'm tired as hell. Way too early - probably because I had to work last night. But I'm looking at the last page and it says people were posting here since 7:00 this morning. That's just uncalled for.

*yawn*

Mr. Squiggles 07-21-2005 09:58 AM

I woke up at 6:00 am, had to go to Drivers Ed to take my final and I got home at 9:30 am

AA-12 07-21-2005 09:58 AM

I woke up at 5 a.m. :p

Using a legato technique to hammer then pull from the D# to the G to the D# again would be simpler than what youve typed up.

The way youve typed it out requires a sweep, then an un-necessary upward pick to start the pull off. Also, if this is the first part of the upward sweep there is a massive chance of the e string ringing after the pull off has been done.

Also, youve do the upward sweep kinda wrong, you shouldnt stop at the b, then start a down sweep on the G# - you should sweep up all 3 strings, then start the downward sweep on the b note.

It all adds up to un-necessary movements and bad economics.

Shadows 07-21-2005 09:59 AM

I hate you guys. Really.

(Dad want to know if you guys can please bring a package of Pita bread tonight.)
I hate you guys. Really.
 Why? Because we're perky by noon?

The entire point of me doing it like I did is to practice muting and picking up on the e string. On the last part i'm still not sure what you mean.

I wouldn't use the word "perky" since it's so demasculating, but yes that's exactly why I hate you.
