I don't find much worthwhile in The Sword.

Jondur 12-20-2006 04:03 AM

I'm listening to the the new Solitude Aeturnus now. I think it's going to be a grower - at the moment there are only two standout tracks but some of the melody lines from the other songs are starting to get under my skin so who knows? Maybe it'll be my favourite SA album in a couple of months.

The Sword are gayer than Elton John's favourite vase.

Phototropic 12-20-2006 06:46 AM

i just got Surrounded by Thieves in the mail

don't get me wrong i like it alot, just not in that frame of mind atm :( all i've been listening to is Isis recently, GAR

but Hung, Drawn and Quartered is great, what a riffup

AlienEater 12-20-2006 07:16 AM

Yeah it's definitely their worst. I just couldn't get into it.

ATM 12-20-2006 07:36 AM

You got surrounded by thieves in the mall?

magicbus 12-20-2006 09:49 AM

So Cult of Luna's pretty fun to listen to. I also really like Isis' Mosquito Control EP. Much better than their newer stuff, which I wasn't diggin' so much.

RetiredAt21 12-20-2006 11:57 AM

Is Funeral Orchestra a doom metal band? I like them.

Shattered_Future 12-20-2006 01:42 PM

I picked up a 2 CD version of In The Rectory... by Reverend Bizarre.

AA-12 12-20-2006 01:53 PM

That album is awesome.

The Sword is awesome too.

They're funeral doom.
Good stuff.

Funeral Doom is one of my favorite genres. \m/

Ah then good times. Those are highly enjoyable.

This needed a bump, because Doom and Stoner hardly deserves the third page.

So, I finally checked out the Ahab album that 2stranger uploaded for the DU, and they're basically awesome. Some of the best Funeral Doom I've heard in a long time, with the exception of Monolithe and maybe Devil Doll.

pate 12-22-2006 11:48 PM

I've gotten a ton of doom lately. What pissed me off was that the newest Grand Magus album I got doesn't work. And I fucking love them too.

Ahab. \m/
Good to hear you like it.

I've never heard Devil Doll.

So anyone already d/l the Abdullah?
I did, gonna give it a listen soon. :)

Apocalyptic Raids 12-23-2006 05:59 AM

I haven't checked out and Doom in a while actually.

rippa32 12-23-2006 06:21 AM

I just bought Cathedral's In The Garden Of Unearthly Delights today, im ****ing loving it. Particularly North Berwick Witch Trials. And the apple scented CD is really unique.

Phototropic 12-23-2006 06:54 AM

got the Isis DVD yesterday

watched most of it

frickin immense fair play, value for money for sure!

hope you're all good!

AlienEater 12-23-2006 08:44 AM

I have that but I haven't watched it yet.

 Leave it to them to pull that off.

Hah, seriously. Once I get some cash from the impending doom of Christmas Day, I'm buying it. I'm really not a huge Cathedral fan (more inexperience than dislike), but how can I miss out on apple-scented Doom?

Good ****in album.

Anyone a YOB fan? Heaviest **** ive ever heard.I need some more stuff like this and not some mediocre stuff that everyones heard of.

Anyone got some suggestions?

pate 12-23-2006 12:57 PM

Yob is decent.

Recommendations:
Church of Misery
Wall of Sleep
Grand Magus

Bartender 12-23-2006 01:19 PM

Don't think I'd recommend Grand Magus as being in the same vein as Yob. Grand Magus have, you know, songs.

Yob are alright though. I picked up Sleep - Holy Mountain the other day too, but haven't had time to listen to it yet.

Sleepy 12-23-2006 05:47 PM

Dude: What about Metal?

pate: Try Grand Magus.

Dude: Okay, I'm into techno lately, but I need more. Anyone got recs?

pate: Grand Magus might suit your fancy.

rippa32 12-23-2006 06:05 PM

Haha, but from what Ive heard (one or two songs) Grand Magus are pretty damn good.
