Good stuff, Amit - thanks :). It's really my second last year, but some of my subjects are at a last year standard meaning I have to work hard anyway.
Yeah it'd be great to have a chat with you. 10th: What Chris says about work in the IT industry is quite true - a lot of people don't want to take on a new kid. Having some sort of degree or diploma really helps, and experience is just, if not more, important. Try to get some work experience in while you're at school (/hopes you're still at school), and go for any IT based opportunities you can get as well (for instance, when you were in year ten, you could've gone for a Fellowship - getting one of those gets you a grant, great experience, and seeing only 36 people get them, looks great on your resume). Designing sites for people - even for free - is a great asset too. But as a lot of people will tell you, make yourself interesting and don't get bogged down soley by computers. Like, be good at IT, but don't make it the only thing in your life that you can put on a CV, you know? Showing that you're a good person in a range of aspects will get you a job that some nerd with the same qualifications (or maybe even some slightly better ones) as you won't... depends on the employer of course, but this tends to be the case. Got a lot happening there, Chris - sounds great! And that's awesome news about your mate Tom (other Chris). I hope he's alright in the end. |
Ugh, this is depressing.
Sitting here on the computer on a Saturday night. I feel like crap for not doing something. The problem was by the time I got back from gym it was like 8pm so it was too late to organise anything. FFS. Sup all? |
I'm going to go play guitar soon. :)
How's things with you Gav? |
Yeah not bad.
I've pulled a muscle near my ribs. Like around where the serratus anterior is. Not fair . You? |
Yeah, I'm good. Looking forward to getting my Nightwish concert video in the mail next week and my CFH DVD's came too. :)
I'm also saving money, I got $400 so far. Pulling a muscle sucks man, I hope you're feeling better soon. |
It ruined my gym session :'(.
|
Aww dood, that's no fun :(
I'd been out partying all day so I didn't really feel too bad about being home last night. Man, so many gigs happening these holidays because of the Games. We might also be playing on the very last leg of the baton relay - pretty high-profile stuff . You doin' much for the holidays you other Viccy's? |
sup thread?
Anyone ever herd Gustav Mahler's Symphony No.1 in D Major? Cal State Long Beach performed it last night. It was alright.. THe Marimba Concertino by Paul Creston was much more entertaining. I think that anyone in an string orchestra would give an excellent handjob. DOes anyone else think so? wow. you all must hate me. gnight. |
Lol, drunk, amirite?
|
Sup Trea?
|
sup fred? again
|
sup fred? again
Let us not have this thread degenerate into something like the 'Lod did please. |
That would be tragic.
Sup fr- oh, wait... Ah man, weather says he/she/it'll be raining for Moomba and possibly for the opening ceremony of the Games. And I'll be gigging in it. /hopes weather is wrong Anyone else got many gigs coming up? |
It is usually.
Anyway I can't believe it. I finally had an epiphany regarding homework - a negative one. The cliche'd stereotypical teenage view on homework and I can't believe it. |
Oh, my, god! That is like, so, totally un-cool man.
What homework was it? http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=449592 Musical psychology - join me  |
Nah just homework in general, haha.
|
Lol, fair enough.
Hmm, I should probably go study for my physics SAC... Holidays next week! |
Eh.. I never did my homework.
*shrugs* I just realised something. This girl I work with. She's about my age, quite pretty, a very nice girl (her sister is an absolute stunner as well). But I was sure that the first I had ever met her was when I started working where I am. But just now it has suddenly clicked..I know this girl, i went to college with her, she was in my year. I even think we had a physics class together. Small world. Nice post Trea. If I could rep you again i would. |
Awesome. It's crazy how things happen like that eh?
I just realised the other day that the girl working at the chicken shop we go to a lot (my sis likes their 'slaw) was in my class at primary school. How's it going Chris? Looked at any theory yet? |
Things are good Trea.
I'm still active at work. We had a bit of a crisis today... Someone (not me - honest) accidentally overwrote a csv file with about two months (several thousand entries) of data in it, with another one that was blank. So that's gone now... Some IT people are seeing if they can restore from last nights tape backup, so here's hoping it's not a full write off. Kinda funny tho. I haven't been playing much guitar recently. To be honest. I just havent had much spare time. So I haven't even looked into any theory. I'm still scared of it. But I did pick up the acoustic for a few moments last night and tried to have a go at learning this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2246852135843298436 I got most of the way through the chorus section. And that version of it actually makes an otherwise horrible song actually worth learning. How are you? |
I always do me homework
Aes, that video is awesome! such a great take on that song. |
I'm awful at studying and homework. I'm in class right now, even.
Hello Jam Session posters! |
hello.
I'vre never seen you around ebfore. Tell us about yourself. |
Hey moaner, are you still doing your A-levels? If so, could you tell me what subjects you are taking and that you took at AS?
If you've finished them, could you tell me what result you got and what you're doing now? I'd appreciate it if you could, it'd help me decide my subjects for next year. Thanks man.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2246852135843298436
Amazing. Are you transcribing it or do you have the music? What's that chord he plays at 1:12? Its on teh second syllable of Who-oa! Living on a prayer |

I'm getting some module results on friday, i'll be sure to share. I took 5 (no frees for me); Physics, Electronics, Chemistry, AMths, further maths. I can't wait to be shot of chemistry at the end of this year, it's not my kinda subject at all. fun at GCSE but no fun at A level. |

I take Maths, Physics, Chemistry, computing and French. I wanted to take Futher Maths but I couldn't get in the class, so now I have to drop two subjects next year to take up further maths AS so I have a hope in hells chance of being accepted by Cambridge. |

But he still amazes me with his playing. I was reallly just learning it off sight and off what I hear. I play the chord that I think the chord you're talking about just as a Cmaj Barre |
Man I'm so emo.
|
I'm good thanks :). You sound like you're going alright there
Owch about the overwrite. Speaking of overwriting, let me tell you about what happened in Tutorial last week... Our school uses up one of our study periods with a year 11 assembly each week where they present a range of information, workshops, etc. So this particular week we had nothing else so the teachers put on a rather lame video on risk-taking. /shnores. It went on for about 40 minutes and then at the end, the guy was summing up "So go on... Take a risk.... Go apply for a job, try a new sport, ask someone out on a date -" "- knit socks for soldiers" Someone had taped over the end with a war time documentry, and there was practically no delay between the words of the speakers on the two different shows. T'was classic. Good ol' Tommy - he's a great guy. Sweet rendition there - should be fun to play :). Lol why are you emo, Gav? My mate Derek had a plastic, unserrated knife (one of those ones from McDonald's) at school and was jokingly pretending to cut his wrist with it because someone laughed at him over something trivial. It actually ended up giving him a scratch... somehow... Then Em screamed so we got kicked out of the hallway. Beauty. |

In other news me and a couple of physics buddies "won" a competition today (2 teams got through out of 5 and we were one) the competition was about explainin science to a non-scientist, we did E=mc^2 It was good fun, we have to do it again for a regional final on 21st |
