jimi hendrix the third 02-06-2005 10:58 PM

relics is a bunch of studio stuff that hadn't been realased yet. the first, two songs or so are from when syd barret was in the band. personally i dont like it that much. but then again was listining to it on record i didnt fell like getting up to change songs so i turned it off.

what are some peoples thought's on any thing pre dsom? me personally i heard meddle and atom heart mother and thought they were really boring. seems like i heard echos was a good song but it took to long for me to get into go i cut off the record player again.

Ok guys/girls if there are any, there's a Floyd Tribute show coming to Aus in March and I'm thinking about seeing it. It's call "Beyond the Darkside". Has anyone ever heard anything about this show, or seen it? If you know anything can you let me know whether it's worth the AU$80 it's going to cost.

Wish I lived there...
^ Yeah I have similar issues with them.

When I compare Animals to The Division Bell, there is no contest, Animals just completley destroys it.
The Division Bell > Animals, in my opinion. I love The Division Bell. Never could really get into Animals too much.

weatherman123 02-07-2005 06:15 PM

theres a show in toronto next month called 'Comfortably Numb', or something to that effect
they put on all of The Wall, then all of Darkside
im gonna go see it, im very excited
there are a lot of floyd cover bands around here, my band included, but i would never have the balls to cover a full album...
has anyone done this?
also, i saw a band cover all of WYWH, and as much as they were amazing at it, i didnt think it should be covered, i guess i sort of consider it 'sacred'
thoughts?

DeusExMachina 02-07-2005 06:26 PM

I saw the Australian Pink Floyd do a show where they did all of DSOTM, then various other tracks. I thought it was great. I really have no problem with the idea of a cover band.

Otherside 02-07-2005 06:27 PM

Pink Floyd has alot more cover bands than any other band, which isn't really a bad thing.

hum, You have lead me to give The Division Bell another listening, as I must say I only played it from start to finish 4 or 5 times, and never got a good feel for it. Maybe it's a grower.

The only Pink Floyd Tribute band I know of is Think Floyd, never seen them, but they play a lot of gigs near to me, may go sometime.

And most are really good, which isn't a bad thing either.

pigonthewing82 02-07-2005 07:24 PM

well its in my opinion that every pink floyd concert to come out after they broke up is a cover band

You may have seen the band I'm thinking about seeing. Apparently they play 90mins of various Floyd songs, and then play DSOTM in it's entirity. I think I might go. :)

Dr. Jake Destructo 02-07-2005 08:13 PM

I would do it if I were you. It would definitely make my year if I got to see a Pink Floyd cover band. Hey Deus, did you see the Australian Pink Floyd in Seattle?

Can someone help me with the eq settings for the Comfortably Numb solo, plzthxbrb.

That would be awesome .

I don't know if it would feel right though. It wouldn't be the real thing.

dUSK 02-08-2005 07:14 AM

UPDATE: I'm going to go see this tribute show, HeavyRiva apparently saw it last night and thought it was really good.

Dannyboy15 02-08-2005 07:22 AM

c'mon floyd fans support your band

It is a favourite album poll, not a favourite band poll. Don't vote an album just because you love the band *cough, Metallica*

Six Foot Revolver 02-08-2005 07:29 AM

I really don't want Metallica winning

Rashka 02-08-2005 07:31 AM

i love the floyd.

sleeping with headphones and "dark side of the moon" studio or live is so great.
i once went downstairs for breakfast and felt like on an island after a night of pink floyd.

also, shine on you crazy diamond is great.

*dad's got the original wish you were here lp*

Wintermute 02-08-2005 07:49 AM

Nonetheless, I think we should all go vote Dark Side. Simply because it has a better chance of winning than the Wall. Floyd cannont be beaten by Metallica. I will not allow it!

Six Foot Revolver 02-08-2005 08:32 AM

Predicitons on the winner?

dUSK 02-08-2005 08:35 AM
Predicitons on the winner?
Like I said in the Tool thread, I think DSOTM will take out the number 1 spot, although I voted Lateralus :p

Kingofdudes 02-08-2005 10:21 AM

DSotM will get my vote, only two tracks on the wall would make me consider voting for it

lukins69 02-08-2005 11:54 AM

I like Pink Floyd.

that's the spirit!!

guitarded_chuck 02-08-2005 01:58 PM

I voted DSotM, because The Wall won't win, and I'm not a big fan of it really.
I like Pink Floyd.
Don't we all

hypocracy hater 02-08-2005 02:33 PM

I voted 'The Wall'.
