you think the tracks would become boring, if they stretched them out further?
I dont know.Black Rose Immortal takes alot out of me once Im through with it.But I still enjoy every minute of it.I dont really care how long they are, as long as they are done well. The Moor is 11 and a half minutes long, but to me it feels likes its only 5 minutes. It finishes, and Im like "Fuck, I want more!!!"

10-13 minutes would be good.

Kaiwaz 05-01-2005 06:42 PM

Exactly...The Moor is tight

Agreed. My Player count over 120 times I've listened to that song. :thumb:

''Granted you, a hollow stare
Another soul within the divine herd...''

Grey Incision 05-01-2005 08:31 PM

Blackrose immortal rules!

My playcount isn't as high as yours Flynn:p but still, 98 isn't too bad! it's just an allround class song which contains one of the greatest opeth solo's (16:34 i think) along with the twilight is my robe solo

Kaiwaz 05-01-2005 09:40 PM

yeah, not only that...but the acoustic guitars beginning at 9:43. And the climax. :thumb:

Rothmans 05-01-2005 09:56 PM

We weren't aloud to play 20 minutes at school, so our band played from that section until the next heavy part :thumb: classic stuff.

Deth 05-02-2005 07:45 AM

From about 10:00 to 14:00, BRI is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard.

Darkness 05-02-2005 06:58 PM

I think The Moor is an amazing song... up there with my other fav Opeth tracks. Whenever it ends I'm like "I WANT MORE!!".

Which is why I'm glad that Godhead's Lament kicks in as it does. IMO there's not another song on the planet that could follow the Moor. :thumb: I actually like Godhead's a little better than the Moor.....the whole "Searching My Way to Perplexion" bit is amazing. The Moor probably has one of the top 5 greatest intros of all time, though.

I like the intro to ''To Bid You Farewell'' the best. Sets the mood for the entire song. Absolutely mournful and uplifting at the same time.

omg please tell me I'm dreaming.

Opeth......Roadrunner......
I have to be dreaming..... :upset: Someone pinch me till I bleed.

Deth 05-04-2005 07:06 PM

Well, lets just hope that Mikael is stronger than Roadrunner.

Det_Nosnip 05-04-2005 08:39 PM

Really, now...I think that people are overreacting about the Roadrunner thing. Sure, they have some pretty dumb bands on their label, but they also are very good at getting the **** albums into American stores. Opeth is not the kind of band to bow before mass appeal; they've been around for a really long time, and have a devoted fanbase. They have no reason to sell out, nor are they the type of musicians who would. All that this means is that us Americans will have a better time getting ahold of Opeth merchandise, and we may even see the band touring around the US more often.

Cain 05-04-2005 08:57 PM

Opeth are one of the few bands that have truly earned a 1,000,000+ fanbase. I'm confident they will not sell out.

Det Nosnip, on a related issue, have you seen either of the posts I've made in response to your posts about Nightwish's use of orchestra in "Once" as argument against them selling out?

Is he the keyboard player?

Cain 05-04-2005 09:54 PM
Is he the keyboard player?
Yeah. If they're going in a black metal direction, the Mellotrons, etc. would be neccesary, yes? Doesn't black metal have symphonic elements and keyboards/synths? This could be a sign that this is indeed a direction they're pursuing.

ElectricalStorm 05-04-2005 09:57 PM
Is he the keyboard player?
Yes, although I'm pretty sure that at this point he's had no musical input and has only toured with the band. Steven Wilson has played the keys/mellotron for opeth albums since blackwater park.

Edit: Cain beat me to it :thumb:

ElectricalStorm 05-04-2005 10:06 PM

just finished reading the article. Apparently he's done the keys for the upcoming album.

I also looked up his other band on metal archives, I'm not sure how influential he is in their songwriting but for anyone wondering here's the link: http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=13
