Couldnt find em at best buy :(
Coudln't find them at cd plus. :(

Dr. Jake Destructo 12-20-2005 09:27 PM

What the hell? I would have figured that at least a handful of people would already have the DVDs.

Wierd. Maybe we've been dooped.

Darkness 12-20-2005 09:31 PM

I'm getting them for christmas, I just wanted to check them out at the store... only time will tell...

mudvayne420 12-21-2005 12:24 PM

i got it yesterday And to say most of you will be dissapointed with the way its presented in which to me seems HALF-***. The commentary, is doubled, its trippy to hear, its pretty hard to understand what he's saying, but its pretty funny. It comes with pics of the vid, and some behind the scenes pics. It's alright but, it seems they HAD to release a DVD, but they didn't want to. I'm just glad i got the videos.

Kage 12-21-2005 12:43 PM

I didn't expect any more or less than pure dissapointment.

Why do I want funny commentary about the videos? Christ, this pisses me off. What a lackluster and sub-par product.

paganman7 12-21-2005 01:14 PM

Despite my best intentions, I bought them yesterday. The commentaries are absolutely worthless. Even if they were understandable, they had little, if anything, to do with the videos or the music. I appreciate that two has-beens should not be telling us what they think of Tool music, but their commentary was worthless; it was like having your dumbest, least eduacated friend over, getting him stoned, and then listening to him talk about a music video.

These things are crap.

omgwtfboogie 12-21-2005 03:23 PM

I'm so tired of everyone trashing the singles, so before I review:

First of all, they are DVD SINGLES. This means that they are one song with a few extra things thrown in. I'm tired of hearing, "OMGZ WHERE R DA NU SONGZ LAWL?!!`1" coming out of every damn Tool fan's mouth. It's a single, you get what you get. If you expected more, you're retarded. If you wanted both to be released on the same disc, once again...it's a single. (Although that is a more valid argument than the previous, and I see where you're coming from.)

Second...Lustmord is an AMBIENT artist. If you don't know what ambient music is, look it up and you'll see why the remixes turned out the way they did. I mean honestly. If you bitch about that you're missing pieces of information.. B. Lustmord remixed the songs using his style to manipulate them.

Okay, so now that I got that out of the way, I must say I love both of the videos. Now instead of turning on my computer to watch them, I can put them on the TV! Woot.

The commentaries are not what I expected them to be. Jello Biafra is a damn smart guy, but the relationship between Tool and him doesn't make much sense. I'd rather have a band member or someone like Alex Grey commentate. But hey...I can always turn the commentary off.

The remixes might just be something I personally like. I'm a fan of Lustmord's work, so him remixing Tool is pretty special to me. Good stuff.

The menus...well let's see another band put something together like that. Granted, they are just menus and all, but still. Artistic++

Of course, another thing about the DVD singles: the copies I have had a sticker on them claiming the release of the next Tool album will be in Spring 2006. We all know that, but it's always nice to hear.

All in all, worth the money. They're eight bucks, they have the videos, art, Lustmord Remixes, and commentary. Even if they only contained the videos, they would be well worth it.

:chug:

denboy 12-21-2005 03:29 PM

^^ was that post directed at anyone on these forums?

omgwtfboogie 12-21-2005 03:30 PM

I do not know. Has anyone here complained about that stuff? I know on other boards they sure have. People just can't grasp the concept of a single..

One Groovin Clown 12-21-2005 06:50 PM

i know what i'm getting for Christmas form my sister. Shes getting me the toolology dvd. I'm actually quite interested to see it. I had teh choice between: Toology, parabola single, or the schism single. I chose the dvd because i though that i might never have another chance to get it.

Darkness 12-21-2005 07:34 PM

I heard that DVD was complete crap... I would have gotten one of the singles. :p

The reviews for Toology on amazon.com says that it's easily one of the worst things ever released on DVD, laughably awful. The band had nothing to do with the making of it.

Dried Muffin Remnants 12-21-2005 08:19 PM

I am proud to say that I have not/will not purchase this... A live DVD on the other hand...

paganman7 12-21-2005 08:36 PM

Get off your soap box and take it easy with the condescension! These DVDs were crap.

Moses 12-21-2005 08:43 PM

Seriously that's really dissappointing. All this time and all they could do was give us these overpriced DVD singles? WTF MATE!!!

Darkness 12-21-2005 09:33 PM

8 bucks is overpriced? I think not, personally.

ThePatient 12-21-2005 09:41 PM

Why pay $8 when I can sit and watch the video on my computer, and commentate them myself. I care more about what I have to say then the guys they got to do them.

BlindWriting 12-21-2005 09:45 PM

I agree. I'm planning on borrowing both from a friend of mine who got each one already, so I'm definitely not wasting a dime.

Moses 12-21-2005 10:12 PM

My friend said they were like 10 bucks so, yeah.

Darkness 12-21-2005 10:13 PM

^That dude up there said 8. I'd probably still buy it for 10 though, I'd really like to have the DVD quality version of the Parabola video... <3

But thats just me.

Aaron_Of_Oz 12-22-2005 01:17 AM

tool are a very good band. maynard is a very good vocalist. i am looking foward to the new album too!

ShadowMan 12-22-2005 02:00 AM

Saw "DVD" and got excited the live one may finally be out.....
Is now disappointed.

paganman7 12-22-2005 03:34 PM

At Best Buy, Schism is $7.99 and Parabola is $9.99.
