He's absolutely amazing.

I mean...AMAZING.

Actually, AMAZING!!!

I've got some old audio bootlegs of clinics etc and he plays faster and cleaner there than he does on the Racer X albums. Same with live guitar solos back in '87, he was playing YRO faster live while jogging backwards than he did sitting down on the Street Lethal album. :upset::upset::upset::upset:

What does being 18 have to do with him kicking major ***?

MRDuCran 09-09-2006 06:45 PM

Well I know age has nothing to do with skill but it's RARE that you find a guitarist that good at 18.

Not to mention when Bruce Bouillet would pick and Paul would play the left hand part on just one guitar and play a solo, fukking incredible.

I'm having trouble deciding which COB album to purchase first. I've heard all of FTR and loved, but since I've already heard all of that album I'd like to get something else. Suggestions.

I was thinking that would be a good way to go. Hatebreeder is the one with Deadnight Warrior right? I love that song.

Deadnight Warrior is on Something Wild

Hmm..I thought someone had told me it was one Hatebreeder. Oh well, regardless of not having Deadnight Warrior I will still probably go with Hatebreeder, I've heard great things about it.

Go for Something Wild after if you have enough cash.

That's the one with Deadnight Warrior on, AND Lake Bodom. :naughty: :naughty: :naughty: :naughty:

Unfortunately at my young age money is hard to come by. I'll see if I can manage to scrownge up some more before tomorrow afternoon so I can get both. I don't think COB's CDs are very expensive 'round my parts so this could be an accomplishable goal.

I just watched a video of it on youtube. Stupendous stuff.

Crickets On A Plane 09-09-2006 08:29 PM

You should get Follow The Reaper, then SW, then Hatebreeder. They're all excellent but that's the order of greatness.

repcak 09-10-2006 03:29 AM

Something wild is great!! Red light in my eyes pt.1 and pt.2 are just

tbh. recently i started to prefer the newer CoB instead of the old albums, so my suggestion goes with Hate Crew Deathroll.

btw. check out this website for album-information:

ps.: i woke up right now, and took a first listen to racer x - technical difficulties (the album); it blew me totally away!! Phallic Tractor... my fukking god!! PG is amazing

Perhaps Locusts 09-10-2006 03:53 AM

I say newer CoB for guitar playing. Older for listening.

There's nothing that can beat FTR. SW owns Hatebreeder.

Lets compare!
Hatebreeder Vs Something Wild- Children Of Bodom

Track: 1
Warheart > Deadnight Warrior
Track 2
Silent Night, Bodom Night > > > In The Shadows
Track 3
Red Light In My Eyes prt 1 > Hatebreeder
Track 4
Red Light In My Eyes prt 2 > Bed Of Razors(aka a total dissection ripoff, but both songs slay, but ripping Dissection off takes away many points of this track since Alexi didn't write the lead)
Track 5
Lake Bodom > > > Towards Dead End
Track 6
The Nail < Black Widow
Track 7
TLAoD > Wraith Within
Track 8
Silent Scream Cover > CoB (maybe their worst song)
Track 9
Downfall is alright. It's never done anything for me and it's ehh live.

It appears a 3 song edge for SW.

And I'm about to watch a full Yngwie Malmsteen live gig with Jen Johhanson on keys.
