Drugstep 07-19-2005 01:30 AM

It didn't bother me until last time. But that's because my teeth were worse than usual last time and they had to keep their latex gloved hands in my mouth for twice as long before letting me spit. Vile.

Bazarov 07-19-2005 01:31 AM

Flouride doesn't bother me one bit. The dentist is okay, I just hate it when I have a clumbsy dentist assistant who doesn't know how to stick the needle in me, and is hesitant and doesn't know how to use the instruments proper.

Drugstep 07-19-2005 01:47 AM

Last time I went to the dentist, the did the dental X-Rays just fine, and I went with my brother, and the dumb blonde assistants made us do the X-Rays again so the two assistants could compete to see who made better photos.
What kind of job does drug testing?
Yeah many jobs in the states drug test now, which means i need to lay off the whacky tobaccy soon or else nobody is going to hire me at all. Then again, I could always go back to cooking, thats guaranteed to not have a drug test involved because half the employees at any given restaurant arent even legal citizens.
It's better when they gas you. What I like about when I get numbed up on one side of my face is when I drink water (or any liquid) I can only feel half of it go in my mouth, it just trips me out a little.
I prefer novacaine heavily because i can still drive just fine to leave the dentist afterwards and do not have to make special arrangements in order to get home.

Stoic 07-19-2005 04:00 AM
Indeed they do! Four years ago when I first heard them, I jumped out of my seat because of his vocals. They were so different from what I was accustomed to hearing from a death metal band.
I hate the vocals, fortunately they dont appear for too long in the songs :p
=Hrothgar]I can no longer have guitar lessons
this could be good. Besides the internet is your friend :thumb:

blue3 07-19-2005 04:15 AM

Why do you hate guitar lessons?

Stoic 07-19-2005 05:00 AM
Why do you hate guitar lessons?
The teacher I had sucked I suppose. He was ignorant, unorganized and never prepared for the lesson plus he was always 20 min late. He was wasting all the time writing stuff on my notebook (like he couldnt prepare the notes before the lesson) and never bothered to show me songs I cared about (oh yeah, I forgot, next time etc). Pretty bad experience for a guitar newbie but I bet he was just the case.

scared6of6metro 07-19-2005 06:28 AM

that sucks. my guitar teacher sometimes shows up with a hangover but i dont hold it aginst him.the guitar teacher in my school on the other hand jsut doesnt care...anyone can just walk into his class & sit and play for the entire period and he wont care :D

Lord Abortion 07-19-2005 06:29 AM

going through university stuff today, Glasgow looks good...
English literature somewhere I don't know where
Leeds, Edinbrough, york some other places struck me as good, warwick maybe

scared6of6metro 07-19-2005 07:54 AM

are you in a university or are going to one?

slaybial-destructor 07-19-2005 07:59 AM

dentist suck... i cant tell whther orthodontists suck more tho... ? who's ever had that needle injection right in the roof of ur mouth? THAT one is a bitch, haha!

Thor 07-19-2005 08:05 AM

I finially get to leave the USA tomorrow. I'm going to Switzerland for 2 weeks.

Drugstep 07-19-2005 08:35 AM

My guitar teacher was like 80, so he wasn't nearly as cool as your average teacher, whom you could ask to teach you certain things, but he still could have shown me things. I didn't want to listen though. I was like 9, and I wanted to play Limp Bizkit.

Just Playing - Papa Roach - Last Resort
Now Playing - NightWish - Planet Hell

Bartender 07-19-2005 08:41 AM

Leeds is a good university, as far as I can tell so far. It's only real disadvantage is that it's positioned more or less on a large hill. Not a problem if you live on the hill, or above the university on the hill, but it's a bitch if you live at the bottom, as I do.

my cousin (who is an Indie kid, but still cool) says that it's a good Uni for the metal scene, I want to go there but would actually prefer a scottish uni because of the exta subjects you can take, (I would choose Philosophy and History) and the extra year means I can put off real life for another year
I'm off to work now, byes

Bartender 07-19-2005 08:49 AM

Well I'm taking philosophy, so I suppose that bit doesn't apply. You can take electives (subjects outside your primary subject) in your first year of university at most universities anyway, though.

I'm planning on putting real life off for at least an extra year anyway. And Joseph's Well (a pub just across the road from where my accomodation is) has some good gigs, yes.

Cain 07-19-2005 09:33 AM

Yet another terrible day at work, in which I screwed up a room service order. :-/ My boss asked me if I think I'm cut out for restaurant work. Tomorrow I'm probably going to tell her "no," since I wasn't planning on staying anyway due to school.

Steerpike 07-19-2005 09:43 AM
My boss asked me if I think I'm cut out for restaurant work.
That usually means they're getting ready to can you. I did them a favor and just quit before they had the chance to fire me.

Trust me, it looks better when you're applying for new jobs.

I believe it. I think tomorrow I'll do it. I'll ask to stay on for another two weeks and then split. God knows some of the other people they have available need the hours: they've got people working one or two days a week at that place. Not the most lucrative job ever.

I just can't take the atmosphere. It's so much harsher than it was at my old job.

My spotlight threads took weeks before it started to catch on. Don't feel too bad.

I think most of the problem is that guys like you and I write threads that require more than 3 seconds of attention span.

Drugstep 07-19-2005 10:06 AM

My one and only thread was taken well, and was alive for three or more weeks, but, sadly, it has now faded into relative obscurity.

I stopped doing it because my Classical Education threads took too long and I got lazy. I might start up again though, should I?

Given Cain's new threads, it would be well-timed.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-19-2005 10:56 AM

Man! I made that giant list of threads for Ken to put in the rules, but it's not even in there. I included every series I could find on the first 20 pages, and a few other threads, including yours, GO.

What a waste of time. :fistshake:

Cain 07-19-2005 10:58 AM
Given Cain's new threads, it would be well-timed.
Yeah, I think the time is ripe for that. Of course, I would prefer it if my threads ran their course. I have maybe two or three more installments to go. After Randy Rhoads, there's Yngwie Malmsteen, and then an overview of the pressure to theorize music that existed in the '80s, and a discussion of "shred" and the speed vs. emotion argument omnipresent when discussing technical playing.

EDIT: Jake: That's 'cause Ken's NEVER ONLINE. I haven't seen him mod R+M in a long while. Matter of fact, Bartender is still a "surrogate" mod because his name isn't even listed under R+M's mod domain.

Not that I'm hawking for a replacement or anything.

Dr. Jake Destructo 07-19-2005 11:07 AM

He was on last night.

NP: Meshuggah-Corridor of Chameleons

Oh, and also hop onto AIM for a couple of minutes if you want a good laugh, Cain.
