A decent bootleg of the 10-06 show in NJ is floating around on torrent sites now. If you don't feel like using those I'll be uploading it while I'm at class today for a friend so if you want it just post your e-mail amd I'll send the link along tonight when I get home.

Good quality video, but the guy doesn't hold steady the whole time (he actually just apologized for it as I'm watching it).

Sounds good to me: magicbus587 (at) gmail.com

Thanks man.

WOW

i definitely want to try to get a bootlegged show this time around

ThePatient 10-18-2006 09:53 AM

Well, I tried to get it going before I left for class, but it was an exam so I didn't want to be late. I have to find a way to upload 850MB or so, and then I'll upload, so hopefully it'll be tonight. If anyone knows of anything let me know and I'll get it up.

Does that bootleg contain the live extended Opiate by any chance? If so, do you know how to make the track into an mp3? If so, then I would greatly appreciate it if you could send me an mp3 of that track..If that's too much to ask or anything, then that's fine, but I've just been dying to hear it again and no one seems to have it.

Darkness 10-18-2006 10:23 PM

Have you checked Soulseek for that Jake?

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-18-2006 10:25 PM

I don't use slsk any more, actually, so no.

Darkness 10-18-2006 10:27 PM

Want me to take a quick look? I got some time right now.

Actually I'm looking for a reason to stay on the computer and listen to Wintersun...

Yeah, I couldn't find anything.

ThePatient 10-18-2006 10:50 PM

It doesn't have Opiate on it. I don't think they've played it since they added 10000 Days to the setlist. Anyway I got it uploading so I'll send out the link in the morning.

Seeing the video is so great its like I'm there again. I'm giddy like a schoolgirl. :)

P.S - My comma button is broken so my sentences kind of run on.

Question: What kind of program would one want to employ to come up with the electronic sounds similar to Intension or other songs?

Stoo 10-24-2006 03:50 PM
Ænima has my favorite fillers. I think Die Eier Von Satan and Intermission are far better than any other Tool fillers.
All Tool fillers suck.

Except Intermission. When I take the CD into work it's really REALLY loud on that CD player. It's fun watching peoples reaction when they walk in and hear it.

Centrum - If you mean the intro/outro sounds, you can do that with some simple effects manipulation. If you mean the electronic drumming in the second half of the song, then thta's a combination of things; Danny used a "Mandala pad" and did some electronic overdubs. There are samples similar to what was used in the program Fruity Loops. Lots of little electronic hics and blips and such. I'll do some more research on this as I'm pretty curious myself, but that should get you steered in the right direction.

Does anyone have any really good quality AUDIO bootlegs of Tool shows?

Yeah, I can get many of these sounds with my guitar, but I'm talking more of the electronic sounds in general. Not just on 10,000 Days I guess. Some of the stuff from The Grudge or The Patient, just general electronic spacey effects in general. Not necessarily electronic drums. Though, I wouldn't mind being able to try my hands at some electronic drums like in Intension or Radiohead, Aphex Twin, etc.

Dr. Jake Destructo 10-25-2006 12:00 AM

Yeah, the sounds that you're probably talking about with your guitar are done with a guitar synth that Adam has. Damn nifty little processors those are. The ending of Lateralus contains a subtle little synthwork as well that I only noticed recently. It follows the melody of the whammied bass guitar.

This news has further reaffirmed my hatred of Staind - they should fvck with Tool's music, they should stick to their own sh1t.
