blizzard 10-29-2004 01:16 AM

i broke both the school's basses today

ocdrumandbass 10-29-2004 01:22 AM

intentionally or accidentally?

more points if you did it on purpose

blizzard 10-29-2004 01:30 AM

accidently i twisted the volume knobs on both too far and the wire came off but i think they should be thanking me because they can have an excuse to get them serviced now. THey haven't been serviced in ages

ocdrumandbass 10-29-2004 01:36 AM

ive always wanted to smash an instrument... does it feel good to do so?

surely someone here has tried it.

gaslight 10-29-2004 01:38 AM

Never smashed an instrument myself.

I've been tempted to smash my electric guitar a few times, because I sound like crap on it :upset:.

blizzard 10-29-2004 01:53 AM

you can throw a bass with a bolt on neck and only the neck should get too damaged and then you can replace it if it can't be fixed

Jaco Weckl 10-29-2004 02:03 AM

man I saw a cool video of Yngwie Malmsteen bashing his strat, he snapped off the neck first and then broke the body in half and messed around with a whammy, really annoying after a while but the breaking of instruments is just cool.

ocdrumandbass 10-29-2004 02:38 AM

if i ever become famous i am going to bring 15 squires to every major gig AND FUCKING SMASH ALL OF THEM!!

man i hate fender.

p.s. i think this was a pretty good 800th post. 200 more and i will make it to the members list!! :thumb:

blizzard 10-29-2004 02:44 AM

^^^

i agree with the smashing squire part but i do like fenders

popinfresh 10-29-2004 03:59 AM

I'm getting a SWR Goliath II.. Yes.. II. I liked it better than the III, more punch. So, i'l get that then build a 4x12 or 2x12 for under it next year.

gaslight 10-29-2004 04:02 AM

I love my new bass.

*Licks it.*

Rollo47 10-29-2004 05:15 AM

G'day All.

Well, things (bass wise) are looking good for me. By the end of next year, I should have another two basses, a real nice electric four string, and an accoustic four string. Also a cheap-ish multi fx pedal, too, which is cool.

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 05:34 AM

Hey everyone.

gaslight 10-29-2004 05:49 AM

Hey guys, anyone know where I can get a video of someone doing a backflip while playing a bass?

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 05:51 AM

No sorry. Getting any ideas Gas. I know of a Vid of Jaco doing this awsome twirling thing with his bass, just look for the video of him at Montruex in 84.

ITs well worth it, its an awsome vid.

popinfresh 10-29-2004 06:38 AM

How does a goliath and 4x12 sound? Or would a 6x8 be better choice than a 4x12 for punch?

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 06:39 AM
...Holy crap. When is FUNKNBASS not on!?
I have nothing to do, I did my all my work on wednesday so I could relax yesterday and today, Im just at the site playing games on my laptop.

I'd go for the 412 but you should try them out if you can. I like 412 alot.

popinfresh 10-29-2004 06:45 AM

This is for woodwork next year.. Building it myself.. I doubt anyone would order in my a henry 8x8 or jnr. I can try a SVT 4x12HE..

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 06:47 AM

Cool, what are you building it out of, I suggest Birch ply if possible. What speakers you plan on using?

popinfresh 10-29-2004 06:47 AM

Oh and by the way.. I like slapping alot.. Plus I play in a heavy/hard rock band, so i'd like to cut through.

FUNKNBASS 10-29-2004 06:49 AM

Then definetly go 4x12 opossed to 8x8. The 412 will give you far better response across the spectrum. The 8x8 might be a little too punchy, the 4x12 will be much better for rock and good for slap.

popinfresh 10-29-2004 06:49 AM

Yup, birch ply. And i think it was eminence? that people said were good. I want something really punchy, i'l have a goliath for good hi-fi top end, I want something with big, shaking lows, and really knock-down punch/low mids i spose.

gaslight 10-29-2004 06:51 AM

The PA system I play through in one of my bands uses Eminence speakers.

Very nice sound and tone, and I cut through just fine.
